"We were delighted to have deer surprise us from the woods".
Surrounded by an oak forest, the coastal hills and a private lake, this two and a half-acre property offers the ultimate in privacy.
Wonderfully located in the middle of Sonoma County wine country ... Russian River, Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley are at your doorstep. Calistoga is only a 20 minute drive where they are famous for their mud baths and spa treatments.
Begin your day with breakfast in the atrium while the gentle trickle of the fountain refreshes your senses. Later, watch from a cozy viewing area as blue herons, white egrets, wood ducks and other wild water birds enjoy the lake.
"There is a spiritual quality that we loved from being close to nature and seeing the majestic views".
BOCCE is a favorite wine country game because you always have one hand free for your glass! Easy-to-understand rules are posted on the professional Bocce court. You're on your way to learning another way to enjoy good times. There's a picnic table at the end of the court so you can enjoy an outdoor meal with the peaceful hills beyond. Spectular sunsets often put on a show.
"The house has beautifully warm colors and we enjoyed all the different venues for eating. Next time we'll stay for a week."
This four bedroom home has three queen beds in three bedrooms and twin beds in the fourth. The open floor plan has vaulted and exposed beamed ceilings throughout. There is a completely equipped kitchen with dining table for eight. The lounge features leather sofas and a 50 inch satellite TV and is open to the dining room and kitchen. There is a VCR and several current movie videos. The living room features a wood-burning fireplace, game table and view of the lake - for those quieter moments.
HERON HILL is less than five minutes from shopping and restaurants in Windsor, and 10 minutes from historic Healdsburg where you'll find world class restaurants, art galaries, antiques, and shopping.
After a full day, enjoy the sparkling night sky from the heated spa. It accommodates seven people comfortably and will gently massage away your cares.
COME AND ENJOY THE GOOD LIFE!

Wonderful long weekend

We enjoyed a highly successful family reunion here at Heron Hill. The location worked so well as all our favorite activites were within walking distance. The Bocce Ball court was such fun and the continuous tournament brought hours of joy. The house was very accomodating with beautiful views, good cooking equipment and was exactly as portrayed in the listing description. The owners were delightful in all our dealings. We will return and highly recommend this property.

We came to relax and got so much more, but the privacy made the visit! We shared the weekend with Mama Deer and Bambi, not to mention the bird population. Wineries and restaurants are all close by - Willie's Restaurant and Coppola Winery were our favorites. There are 3 bedrooms with queen sized beds, and one with twins. My only criticism is that the room with twin beds is isolated from the rest of the house, and not appropriate for children. The owner was very accomodating, the house was clean, and the property will be more than you expect!

Our group of 5 had a great time here. The property is in a beautiful, relaxing setting and we had a blast playing bocce and just hanging out. Would definitely recommend it. A little bit outside of town but very easy to get to town and wineries.
Owner response:A very nice review - thanks!

Five of us stayed at Heron Hill during Passport Weekend. I was the hero of the weekend for finding this place! In an area known for over-priced accommodations, this was truly an unbelievable find. The place is close enough to the main road to be convenient, yet far enough back to be quiet and secluded. The house itself was lovely, well-appointed and clean; the 5 of us had more than enough room. It sits on well-landscaped property set against a wooded area on one side and a small lake on the other. The views of the countryside are stunning- the VRBO pictures truly don't do the property justice. The first morning we awoke to a pair of deer outside the back door and later spotted a blue heron at the water's edge while having coffee on the deck. A great indoor breakfast spot was the card table in the living room. Big windows, stunning views! After a long day of wineries, we spent evenings at the far end of the bocce court sipping our wine and watching the wildlife and the beautiful view. The spa was clean and inviting but we didn't get a chance to use it. John, the owner, was most gracious and accommodating. We certainly recommend Heron Hill and will choose it again for our next wine country visit!

We reserved the house because we were in town for a wedding and there was 8 of us. Not only was Heron Hill an exceptional value, it was simply a delight. It is close to the highway which makes it easy and convenient to visit all that Sonoma / Napa have to offer. The house itself was very comfortable...we especially loved the heated mattress pads. The Bocce Ball court was unique and we enjoyed it while drinking a bottle of wine from one of our earlier winery visits. I would like to thank the owners for everything and will definitely stay here on our next Sonoma visit!! Jason

It was clean, open layout in kitchen. Nice fireplace. Great view of small lake as well as far off Sonoma coast mountains. Near supermarket as well as wineries. Easy to work with managers. We would stay there again.
