I own my business and work from home. I'm a sales engineer for machine tool components. My wife is a Project Manager at VW of America in Auburn Hills, MI. Our youngest son, Ed is in college, just turned 21. We have a 27 year old son, Christopher finishing college and works for Verizon. Our daughter, Julie is 26 and has a master's degree, currently working toward her teaching degree. We have been staying in the Boyne Highlands Resort for almost 20 years and find the area to be one of the most beautiful places in the world!!!
Why the Owner Chose Boyne Highlands
We built this vacation rental in 2005 with the intention of it being our retirement home. We worked with our builder to provide a home that will meet our requirements to comfortably and privately house multiple families. The second story is a separate suite w/ 2 queen beds and 3/4 bath. The master suite has shower plus whirlpool tub. The other 2 bedrooms have a full bath between them with doors to each room, and a door between this suite and the living room.
CANCELLATIONS: If it becomes necessary to cancel your reservation, the rental portion of any monies paid will be refunded only if your property is re-rented for the same time period and at the same amount.If we are unable to re-rent the property, the rental portion of any monies paid shall be forfeited. Re-rental is not guaranteed.

We are vacation rental owners ourselves so I have to admit we're very picky about where we stay, and we can't think of anything negative about this stay or our experience renting the house. We had 3 families staying for the week of Thanksgiving and everyone had a great time. The house was clean, roomy and comfortable for the 9 adults and 3 children we had in our party. The house was so homey we ended up staying more at the rental than at our parents house (who we came to visit) a mile away. There were many well thought extras, like hair dryers in every bathroom and plenty of nice quality towels. The master bathroom is gorgeous with a huge walk in shower and a spa tub the kids loved to take their bath in. There was even a drawer full of sample soaps and such in case you forgot something. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were even frosted beer mugs which pleased the beer drinkers in our group. We enjoyed visiting around the roaring fire in the fireplace and the kids loved the large dining room table for all their drawings and projects. We had snow twice while we were there and luckily there were snow shovels in the garage. The owners have thought of everything! We didn't eat out much since we had such a large group, but we did enjoy Randy's pizza our first night, and we had a lovely meal at The Pier. We also had a great lunch at City Park Grill in Petoskey. After lunch we strolled through the cute shops and picked up some Christmas gifts. Diane was great to work with in renting the house, and responded immediately to all of our quires. Many rentals I inquired about renting never bothered to respond, but Diane was spot on. We received our deposit back so quickly, I hardly had time to think about it. I would highly recommend this house for any season and for any combination of family or friends looking for a great retreat. Thanks Diane for sharing your home with us and thanks for catering to our special request. We'll be sure to check your home first when renting in Harbor Springs again!

This is truly a very nice home and well stocked. It was very clean. The stay was pleasant. We had lots of fun activities nearby. However, we had difficult time to get into the house when we arrived. We were told the door would be unlocked for us to get in. The door was tightly locked and we were not provided the combination lock number for the key box. The owner could not be reached. We left numerous messages. Most of the times the reception for cell phone was poor and we could not call successfully. Finally we had to knock on neighbor's door. The neighbor was very helpful and located the owner. They helped us to get the key from the box. It was an agonizing hour. We almost ended up going to hotel that night. We would be much happier if the owner could apologize to us. This certainly could be a perfect getaway if there was no such incident.
Owner response:To our future guests: As the owners of this property, we truly want our guests to have a wonderful stay with zero problems. We live over 200 miles from the home, therefore, we have a caretaker that is supposed to verify the door is unlocked. Unfortunately, in this case, the caretaker failed to do this. To rectify this situation, we now provide all confirmed renters the code to a lock box that we have installed. Additionally, the mobile phone service is spotty through out northern Michigan. To facilitate communication for our guests, we now offer unlimited, toll-free, US & Canadian calls on our land line, as well as high speed internet access. Diane & Jim
