Big Canoe is a resort community located just 1 hour north of Atlanta. Big Canoe offers 27 holes of golf, 3 lakes, and a 5 mile paved trail for walking or biking. It also has many natural outside hiking trails and a white sandy beach along an outdoor pool complex that adjoins a lake for swimming, canoes, and paddle boats! The resort has indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a racket ball court, and indoor Olympic swimming pool with a sauna and a huge fitness facility.
Furnishings in our 5 bedroom home are comfortable and include rich leather furniture in great rooms, two televisions, a DVD player, three queen beds in separate bedrooms. Wireless internet connection available.
One full size and one twin size "bunk" bed in children's room. Three baths, a fully equipped Kitchen, and two dining tables that will seat 12 people total. Each bedroom on the main floor, as well as the Great Room, have a sliding glass door that leads out to the private deck.
The guest house is a detached unit with a king sized bed, full bathroom, living room with a sofa that converts into queen-sized bed, kitchen, and dining area. The guest house is attached to the main house by the shared deck.
Our home is located in the Lake Side community of Big Canoe. The house sits on a one acre private wooded lot that backs up to protected green space. There is a hiking trail that connects to the property that will take you to a very pretty bubbling creek, which leads into the lake. You and your family can rent a pontoon boat, or take a canoe on the lake.
The house has a private office/bedroom with wireless high speed internet access.
The location of our home is a six minute drive to the amenities. If you are looking for a comfortable home in the woods and with all of the resort amenities this home is a great value especially for family gatherings and group.

2 nights or less= winter rate/$250 per night/ summer rate/$299 per night
Thanksgiving: Wed - Sunday of Thanksgiving week, $299/night
Christmas: December 21st - January 2nd, $299/night

Year Purchased: 2005
Ron and Kim Schindler along with their four great kids love to go to the house at Big Canoe and hang out on the weekends. The kids particularly enjoy the rock slide, pool/beach area and hiking in the woods. Kim and Ron also enjoy an occasional golf outing.
Why the Owner Chose Big Canoe
We bought in this location since it is close enough to visit easily on the weekends, but in the mountains and far away enough to feel like we are truly getting away. We really love all of the outdoor activities which include swimming, boating, fishing, hiking and golf. During the winter we can take the kids to the indoor pool to hang out.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We often sit on our deck overlooking the woods and watch the deer come right up to the deck. Our home has a lot of privacy so we don't feel like we are sitting in a subdivision home with lots of other houses right out our front door. It's a truly peaceful get away.

My stay in Big Canoe was wonderful!!! My family and I had one of the best vacations ever. The home was clean and it had plenty of room for the 16 members of the family. The only problem we experienced was that we could not get the internet to work. After my tries and many phone calls we finally just gave up and enjoyed the surroundings and each other. I would highly recommend this property. Big Canoe was beautiful!!! Thanks Kim!!!
