Piazza Verzani 4 is a beautifully restored seventeenth century house, with all modern amenities and two terraces- one with stunning views over the mountains. It looks out on a little piazzetta and there is no traffic. The 'new' (19th century ) town below old Barga has all necessary services. The house is on four floors. Above the basement area with washing machine etc., on the first floor the large main double bedroom has a magnificent fireplace with wood-burning stove, with a huge antique chestnut wardrobe. The main bathroom is across the tiled floor at mezzanine level. On the floor above is a shower room serving another double bedroom with its own terrace and a twin-bedded room with an additional cot for a young child. On the top floor the extensive dining/living/kitchen area beneath the roof with its exposed beams has its own fireplace and a terrace looking onto the two mountain ranges.

From the opposite window over the tiled roofs of old Barga you can see the Pania, the highest mountain in this area.

We stayed in Villa Verzani 4 for two weeks in early April and what a delightful experience! Kitchen/dining area was our home - when we weren't on the terrace enjoying the lovely view. Wonderful nearby restaurants and charming village. Having car (make sure very small) was nice, but easy to get access to nearby areas by bus and train. Thanks for sharing your charming home!

Piazza Verzani is a fabulous house within the walls of an enchanting hilltop village. The views from the deck are breathtaking, the kitchen and baths well appointed, and the combination of church bells and comfy beds put us to sleep at night. From the minute we walked in the door, we were smitted with the authenic decor and admiring of the effort put into renovating this home. It is truly a lovely and relaxing place to stay. We would highly recommend it.
Owner response:It is always heartening to read people's comments over the years we have been renting, since the end of the 'nineties. Those posted on the VRBO website by us are from the 'Friends Book' which is left on the long table for people to add their stories--it's quite a narrative now! What people really seem to like is that while the 'busy-ness' of the 19th century town is only a few minutes' walk away, the house itself is in a peaceful & tranquil spot, and with views over two mountain ranges, sunsets are indeed a revelation, as one family said. (More than one marriage proposal has taken place on the top terrace..) People also like the blend of the beautiful old architecture, the 'Tuscan' decoration, and the attention to detail of the 'mod cons' in our family home. One visitor summed up our own intuition about the happy experiences people leave behind by saying 'this house has heard a lot of laughter'. It's also a great base for exploring the whole area, whether you are into the urban treats which are too numerous to mention, or walking; gentle hills or strenuous mountain walks, you can take your pick, and there's also swimming localy, trail bike and horse riding. The highest mountain in the area, the Pania, can be seen in full view from the kitchen window & is an awesome sight. So there's a range of experiences available, and as one person wrote 'after we've been out, my wife & my son say "'let's go back home"'- they mean our house, which is a huge compliment for us, and also is a surety for anyone understandably concerned about finding 'the right place' , that our house hits the spot for many people. Finally the neighbours are very friendly, and the key-holder is an old lady who speaks no English but gets on very well with all our guests as the Friends Book describes... people have visited several times from as far away as Australia, and take back with them happy memories of the house, the people, and the beautiful countryside which surrounds the property. We hope this gives people a flavour of what they can expect--and if they wish to experience this kind of holiday, then do please get in touch!

'Our stay in Barga was the highlight of our 5 week trip through France and Italy. Your home was so comfortable, we loved the village and Maria (the keyholder) was delightful. We would recommend staying at your place to anyone looking for a nice vacation home-thanks again!'
