Our custom-built home, with a view of and access to Sleepy Creek, sits on four plus acres of land, providing privacy and quiet that is truly rare. Located in Gloucester, North Carolina, (it's 'down east,' 13 miles past Beaufort) we are 10 minutes from Harker's Island, gateway to Cape Lookout National Seashore, and 25 miles from the Cedar Island Ferry to Ocracoke. Sleepy Creek itself opens into the Intercoastal Waterway, and we can see Brown Island from our deck.
There is plenty of turn-around space on our property for boats/trailers. There are public put-ins at Harker's Island Causeway (8 miles away); Marshallburg (2 miles away); and Davis (12 miles away).
This house has several unusual inside designs: The entrance hallway is 'offset' from the usual 90 degree house and floor designs; the 'great room' has a vaulted ceiling and several very different wall configurations; all rooms in the house (except the bathrooms) have a water view; both bathrooms, the kitchen, and entryway have been recently tiled by an artist. A 'pass through' from the kitchen into the great room makes serving meals easy. Sometimes we grateful for rainy days so we can stay in and appreciate the beauty of the house!
The newly remodeled kitchen has every convenience a cook requires, including a side bar, professional appliances, and good sharp knives. We provide staples such as sugar, spices, toilet paper and paper towels, cleaning supplies, laundry bags and garbage bags. You'll need to bring your own specific foods and beverages, including coffee. You also need to bring your own towels for going to the beach.
Keywords: Unique house design - 3 rooms with Water View. Access to dock and floating pier.

This house is absolutely perfect for a peaceful retreat from reality. For us, it was just what the doctor ordered. The photos cannot do it justice -- the house is beautiful and the attention to detail is incredible. We saw wildlife, the Blue Moon and more butterflies than we could count over the long weekend. The resident cats made the stay perfect. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return. Thank you for your hospitality!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners.

House and surrounding property were spectacular. The perennials were in full bloom and gave the feel of botanical gardens. Everything was presented in a warm, aesthetic, ambiance. The owners definitely make their vacation rental feel like home. The property manager was extremely helpful and pleasant. We especially appreciated the ability to bring our four-legged kids along on our vacation and they definitely enjoyed their vacation as much as we did.Recommended for: Pet owners, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

The house was lovely, so much larger than the pictures conveyed. Making arrangements with the owners was a breeze.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
