Accommodations:  Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Keywords:  Cabin

The Alpine Treehaus is a charming Mountain Cabin nestled on a secluded hillside just outside Helen, Georgia. Enjoy your morning coffee from the rockers on the screened porch overlooking a hillside bursting with color in the fall and a cool shady green forest in the summer, and seasonal mountain vistas.

Solid wood paneling and cathedral ceilings, a charmingly carved stairway, and Dutch stencil on hand-made shutters make this cabin a part of the local Alpine culture.

A wood-burning fireplace warms a spacious living room with all the amenities of home. A comfortable bedroom downstairs hosts a Queen bed. There is a full kitchen, dining area and full bathroom downstairs.

The upstairs loft sleeps 2 more in a pair of twin beds. A sitting area with a sofa and chair, and a full bathroom upstairs make the loft a comfortable separate living area when a larger group is staying (or a terrific get-away for the kids in your family!). The downstairs sofa folds out to sleep 2 more guests.

2 miles from Lake Unicoi and Anna Ruby Falls, 5 miles from Helen, 3 miles from the Old Sautee Store, and just down the road from Moccasin Creek State Park and Lake Burton, the Alpine Treehaus is quiet and remote, but a short drive to where all the action is: fishing, hiking, tubing the Chattahoochee, horseback riding, Oktoberfesting, Alpine strolling, shopping, dining, and so much more.

Although the cabin is very private, at the foot of the hill is Ain't B's Bakery and more. A wonderful bakery and kitchen featuring homemade omelets, country ham, Georgia BBQ, deli delights, delectable homemade pies, desserts, and pastries. She also carries some necessary camping staples for your convenience.

After you’ve done it all, come home and kick back for a soak in the 4-person jacuzzi on the screened porch by moonlight. Once you stay in this charming cabin, you'll want to come back with your family (or your Sweetheart!) year after year.

Ideal Idyllic Place!

Guest: Jim and Gina (Spring Hill, Florida)
Date of Stay: 07/13/08 Review Submitted: 07/16/08

Our experience began with kind, courteous dealings with owners Bill and Lisa. Their friendliness is as super as their rustic cabin! The amenities include a hot tub located on a screened-in porch, a working fireplace, DirectTV and DVD player. Sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch at night, listening to the 'katydid concert', brings one back to nature. The "Alpine Treehaus" is neat, clean and well-supplied with appliances, linens, towels, cookware and dishes, etc. Just bring your toothbrush and a change of clothing! Nearby amenities are plentiful! Unicoi State Park, Anna Ruby Falls in the Chattahoochie National Forest, and, in the Alpine village of Helen, there are German restaurants, tubing down a stream and lots of arts & culture. And...if you ever get a hankering to pan for gold, a 15 minute drive from the Treehaus location will put you in the area where more gold was discovered than the California gold rush of 1849. And there's more gold to be found "in them thar hills"; at a working mine, we found a few gold nuggets weighing .12 ounce. For rustic surroundings, in the heart of the Georgia mountains, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city-living, THIS is the place!

Great place to stay!!!

GREAT place to stay in Helen. It is about 7 min outside of Helen, but for us that was perfect. We stayed this past week on a Monday and Tuesday night, so Helen was very slow, but still great. The cabin was perfect for us. It is a little older and very rustic, but when staying in a cabin in the mountains that is just what we wanted. The down stairs bedroom is very comfortable and upstairs is perfect for kids. The kitchen is small, but for a party of two or four, it has all the space you need. To tell you the truth, don't cook, go out the eat and enjoy relaxing when at the cabin. The hot tub on the porch was a perfect touch to a long day. One place you must eat is Nacoochee Grill, best food in Helen I think. The last thing I must say is that the owner Lisa was great. So helpful with every little thing. My checks did not make it in time and she was so helpful in addressing the issue. Thank you again Lisa for being so nice and you truly blessed us this trip.

Could Have Been Better

Guest: Van (Ellerslie)
Date of Stay: 09/15/11 Review Submitted: 09/20/11

My experience with this cabin could have been better. When my guest and I arrived at the cabin, It was full of spider webs and looked as though it had not been used for months although the owner swears that it had just been used. The towels smelled rank and the jacuzzi smelled of mildew. We thought that someone would have cleaned and prepared for the next guest. I was very disappointed by that. The owner's personality left something to be desired as well. The cabin, after we cleaned it, turned out to be a nice stay and very convenient to everything in Helen. I love the cabins in Helen but would not make a return trip to this one.

Owner response:It's important to note that this renter cost us $563 in damages and lost her $150 deposit. One of the rare deposits that we have ever kept in over six years of renting on VRBO.

First Family Vacation 2011

Guest: Shay (Watkinsville, Ga.)

My husband and I took our kids to stay at Lisa and Bills cabin for the labor day weekend. We thought that they would not enjoy it but they did. This was the first vacation that we have taken together and we all really enjoyed it. The cabin was cozy and very homey. We look forward to going again.

Great Weekend in a Great Cabin

Guest: Linda A.
Date of Stay: 05/28/11 Review Submitted: 07/11/11

We had a quick weekend stay at Bill & Lisa's cabin. The cabin was quaint, quiet, clean and a much needed rest for us working folks. I would reccomend this for family getaway or a romantic getaway for a couple. We also love visiting Helen and having a cozy cabin to return to at the end of the day was wonderful. Thanks again.

Great Getaway!

Guest: Jason and Tara (Atlanta)
Date of Stay: 11/19/10 Review Submitted: 11/27/10

We would recommend this cabin to anyone. My wife and I stayed two nights at the Alpine Treehaus and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The owners were helpful and a pleasure to deal with. There are many things to do in and around the Helen area and we highly recommend Anna Ruby Falls. The cabin was comfortable and has everything you need for a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle. (We especially loved the relaxing hotub after a day of hiking, and then winding down in front of the fireplace!)

Cozy and Comfortable!

Guest: Christine (Evans, GA)
Date of Stay: 10/09/10 Review Submitted: 10/11/10

The Alpine Treehaus was a perfect home away from home for our family of four this weekend. This was our first visit to Helen and we were very thankful to be able to leave the hustle and bustle (and traffic!) of Helen's Oktoberfest behind and go just a short distance to our cozy and quiet cabin in the woods. The cabin was the perfect size, very comfortable and nice and clean. The owners were a pleasure to work with and we were very appreciative of the local information they sent our way. Make sure you stop at Ain't B's bakery and cafe, which we were able to walk to for breakfast, when you visit. What a treat! We also enjoyed being so close to Unicoi State Park, where we hiked up to Anna Ruby Falls and enjoyed fresh trout and all the fixin's for dinner in the lodge. We hope to visit the area again soon. Thanks for a great weekend!

We absolutely loved our stay at the treehaus. It is exactly the way you see it in the pictures. The location is beautiful and quiet. The owners are a pleasure and Ain't B's at the bottom of the hill has good food and friendly service as well. I would definitly stay there during a future visit.

Relaxing Getaway

Date of Stay: 08/20/10 Review Submitted: 08/23/10

Our family spent a very relaxing getaway in this wonderful cabin over the weekend. Our only regret was that the weekend wasn't longer ........I could have stayed there forever. The owner (Lisa) was very helpful in getting us taken care of with very short notice and the cabin was all we had hoped it would be. I loved that we were away from all the hustle & bustle of the city yet it was only a very short drive when we decided to go into town. The Unicoi State Park is beautiful and serene and the tubing in Helen was very relaxing. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends & family and would definitely stay there again. Thanks, Lisa, for sharing your hideway with us!
