My husband and stayed at one of these apartments in March 2013 for 8 nights. It was our first trip to Japan and we could not have picked a better place to stay. Others have mentioned how convenient the apartments are and I can only echo their sentiments. We loved the fact that we could pop over to Seiyu any time of the day or night to pick up whatever we might need -- from snacks to socks. Since you walk through the store on the way from the rail station, it's so easy to stop and get things when you return for the day. There are lots of restaurants in the immediate area too. The furnishings and appliances in the apartment looked brand new, and having a washing machine was a godsend for a long trip. I am a real stickler for cleanliness and everything was immaculate. The photos on their website are a good representation of the apartments. Thanks to the double windows (and each window had a double pane) there was no noise at night, even though we were right beside the rail station -- and there was no noise from neighbors either. I was expecting a very hard mattress like at a lot of Asian hotels, but the bed was really comfortable. My back thanks you for that! Their staff could not have been kinder or more helpful to us in planning our stay in Tokyo, even going the extra mile by sending us detailed instructions on taking the train from Kyoto to Tokyo (including the track numbers for the trains) -- then meeting us at the Nishi-Ogikubo Station! You just don't see personal service like that any more. Thanks for all you did for us!

This cozy apartment may have been small, but it was very clean and came equipped with everything one could possibly look for in an apartment. My cousin and I were very impressed with the way an apartment so small could fit so much. For the two of us, it was comfortable and affordable as well as so very convenient. The convenience store (which is open 24 hours a day) was literally 30 seconds away and the train station was a minute away by foot. Makoto-san was very helpful with getting us acquainted into the area and was more than willing to answer any of our questions. An added bonus was that it was located in a safe and quiet neighbourhood that left us women feeling very at ease no matter what time of the day we checked back in. There are also some great places to eat right around the station. It's a place we definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to stay in Tokyo for a short period of time and most definitely a place we will come back to during our stays in the future.

I spent six days with my 15-year-old son in this apartment. It was very pleasant and I highly recommend it. All the convenniences are nearby and the Nishiogikubo station is very near and very convenient to reach all places of interest in Tokyo. Makoto has been very helpful to us--even offering assistance to buy Shinkansen tickets !

This was the best value of our trip compared to the cost of hotels. Our family of 4, including 14 and 10 year old boys stayed here for 10 days along with another family. It was perfect because they own the building and rent out several of the apartments for vacation rentals. Makoto-san was extremely helpful and very funny. We also rented our cell phones from him which was convenient. We took advantage of the luggage service to and from the airport. I loved that the 24 hour Seiyu market was literally right around the corner from the apartment and when we first arrived - we woke up at 4:30am and was able to go to Seiyu and get breakfast. The train station was a walk through Seiyu. It was nice to come home to a quiet neighborhood after a day of being in the crowded city. My kids were happy that there was a McDonalds and 7-11 within walking distance. Overall - I would absolutely stay here again!

The perfect place to stay for our two week family vacation! The apartments (our group rented 3 rooms) are extremely clean, equipped with all you need (even a small furo tub to soak & relax in after a long day out), so close to the train station, surrounded by numerous places to eat (ramen, yakitori, yakiniku, tendon, kaiten sushi, izakaya, takoyaki, even a McDonalds!), and is one train stop away from my new favorite place to shop - Kichijoji! The huge 24 hour Seiyu market, that you'll walk through every day, will provide you with all your needs. The quiet residential area is clean and very safe, even near midnight as we walked back from the train station. About a 20 minute train ride to Shinjuku station and 40 minutes to Tokyo station. We used the luggage service to & from the airport, purchased Suica cards to ease our travel by train, rented cell phones directly through the apartment service, and was personally greeted by Makoto-san at the Nishi-Ogikubo station. With his cheerful personality and great English, he introduced us to the area, pointed out places of interest and places to eat, and graciously handled all our needs! I would stay here again, and am definitely recommending it to friends and family visiting the Tokyo area! Thank you, Makoto-san and Yuya-san!

This is my second stay at the Nishi-Ogikubo apartments. While I only stayed for 10 days this time, my last trip in 2008 I "lived" in the apartment for 5 weeks, it felt like I was home. Makoto-san is a gracious and knowledgeable host who will make certain that you have everything you need to enjoy your stay and that you know your way around the neighbourhood. The Seiyu supermarket was just finished being renovated during my stay and is now even bigger with more selections for groceries, bakery goods, and hot ready to serve meals. You cannot go wrong staying in one of the Nishi-Ogikubo apartments from LiveInAsia.

We stayed at nishi-ogikubo apartment for 6 nights and the place was absolutely convenient! we were surprised because the place was actually bigger than it looks on pictures. everything you need are provided there, the bathroom was super clean and nice, and the JR rail tracks behind the apartment doesn't bother us at all(when the windows are closed you wont hear a thing). the location is superb since its very close to the JR station by foot. and Mr.Makoto is very very helpful! he provide all the informations we needed regarding the apartment, transportations, locations, etc. we are very grateful! we'll definitely stay there again!

Tokyo is an expensive city and when you look at the prices of hotels, and even hostels, you realise what great value this apartment is. Every room we stayed in in Japan was tiny and although this apartment isn't huge (for more than 2 people it'd be a bit cramped) it felt really spacious to us. We loved the bright colours, comfy bed, couch, small but well equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom (by Japanese standards) and having a washing machine in the apartment. It was all very clean and modern. Makoto met us at Nishi-Ogikubo station and showed us to the apartment (a few minutes walk away). He was very helpful and gave us lots of information about the apartment, the area and things to do in Tokyo. He also provided maps and other information. Nishi-Ogikubo is 15 minutes on the train to Shinjuku, a major station in Tokyo. We liked the area as it's not at all touristy and much quieter than hectic central Tokyo. As the apartment is so near to the train station though the trains passing are quite loud. We would definitely recommend a stay at this apartment rather than spending a lot of money on a tiny hotel room.

My two daughters and I stayed in this apartment and I must admit it was the best thing to do. Much better than a hotel. It was clean, well equipt and although small, offered us much more of a homey feel. Nishi-Ogikubo is such a great little town, with plenty of places to eat and everything within walking distance, including a grocery store and a trainstation which took us everywhere without problems, it was fantastic. Makoto, you were brilliant, you were a great and we appreciated your help greatly - especially going out of your way to help us with even the smallest of matters. I'll also leave a note we went to Japan a week after the tragic disaster happened, and although worried on what to except, we have no regrets going. Tokyo wasn't affected and there was nothing to be worried about with the radiation. Please DO NOT let the western media scare you into going! Apart from a few after-shocks, everything was running smoothly. Japanese people are so helpful and friendly and are so strong through the disaster, and they were very happy to have us come and enjoy their lovely country and they went the extra mile to impress us. We'd definitely be coming back to stay again! And I reccomend this apartment! Dawne, Chelsea and Rhiannah.

We had a good stay at the apartment in Nishi.Ogikubo, in spite of being 4 grown-ups. It is very well communicated and the neighborhood is very nice and quite. The information provided by the staff was useful -and used! The proximitiy to the station and the 24hrs Supermarket are a plus. The only drawback is the sofa-bed, a bit to small even for a loving couple.

My husband, two teenage children (16 & 14) and I stayed in the Nishi-Ogikubo apartment for three nights in late June 2010. The apartment is small by Western standards (when the sofa bed and extra mattress are laid out there is no room to walk around), however it is very clean, comfortable and well located. It is also well priced, considering we would have needed two hotel rooms for our family. As others have said, just around the corner there is a 24-hour supermarket, good bakeries, take-away shops and the train station. The neighbourhood is just lovely - it was terrific to come home to quiet streets after tiring days of sightseeing. Our arrival in Tokyo was made so much easier thanks to the travel instructions Makoto sent us beforehand, and he was there to meet us at Nishi-Ogikubo Station, as promised. His advice was invaluable.

We stayed at this apartment in June. I went with my husband and sister, the apartment was a good size and very clean. We loved the apartment and Nishi Ogikubo! Everyone in the town was so nice! We enjoyed the restarants and shopping too! The train was right next to the apartment so it was easy to catch and get places, they were always on time too. Makoto was great and was very helpful!! We loved the apartment and loved Japan! We recommend this apartment to anyone, not only is the apartment great, but the town is too. You are only minutes away from a busy city, it is nice to visit Tokyo and then return to more quiet area. We will definately come back!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this apartment for 5 days... it was a good size for a studio and it has lots to offer a couple. The area is also a good area, but quite far away from the centre, the rapid train doesn't run at the weekends so it takes much longer to get to and from Tokyo a taxi costs 4,500 yen, before midnight, maybe more after. We think that guests should know before they arrive that the apartment is right next to the railway tracks and both windows face onto the tracks, so you can not open the windows and it is very difficult to sleep later than 5:30am as it's very noisy. This was not explained fully in the apartment information. The rest of the apartment is how it's described on the website.

5 of us stayed at the 2 bedroom apt in Nishi-Ogikubo. What a great little place it was!! First, it was big enough for 5 grown men, free high speed internet, washing machine, fully equipped kitchen (although we never used it), nice quite location right next to the train station, clean rooms with "real" soap and shampoo, great price compare to equivalent hotels etc. But we were most impressed with the customer service provided by Mr. Makoto. He not only commuincated with us weeks before our arrival but also during out stay he gave us a lot of tips and suggestions to help plan our stay better. He is REALLY funny guy and speaks good English. I would highly recommend staying in this apartment.

We received a lot of information not only regarding the apartment but also on Tokyo (Thanks to Mr. Makoto). It was a really pleasant stay, the apartment is perfect for 2, nicely furnished, in good location not really central but well connected. Just around the corner there is a supermarket open 24 hours. We will recommend it to our friends and we hope to come back soon. Glenda & Simone

Stayed here for 5 days May/09. Train station is attached to the 24 hour supermarket (which was great) which is 30 seconds to apartment. Place was very nice and clean and roomy enough for 2 adults. Nishi-ogikubo was cool little place, about 30 min train to Tokyo station. Makoto was super friendly, met us at the train station and walked us in, gave us instructions and travel tips Check out was even easier, just left the keys there. Would definitely recommend this place, had a GREAT stay, although myself, i might stay in a busier area next time where i can step out of my place into the bustle.

Our stay in the nishi- ogikubo apartment couldn't have been better. The accomodation itself was clean, stylish and well equipped. We thought the train tracks outside might have been annoying but it was a great view watching tokyo life from the balcony and wasn't noisy. Seiyu was within 2 mins walking distance and is the best supermarket we've ever been to! It's selection of yakitori and tonkatsu at the deli counters were a great alternative to expensive eating out. Tokyo is so full on it was great to escape from the centre on the 15 min train ride back to the apartment to chill out. Makoto (our host) is a star, so sweet, friendly and helpful and gave us a warm welcome in what is quite a daunting city on first impressions. Would love to come back to Tokyo and would definately book the apartment again. We were in tokyo for 6 nights and crammed so much in, be warned, it is VAST! Better to pre plan to make sure you get what you want to experience in. The shopping is immense and could have spent the whole time distracted by the millions of boutiques and malls! Tokyoites are the most stylish and fashionable people I've ever seen...the fashion scene (Best seen in Shibuya and Ayonama) is miles better that London and New York. We used the lonely planet tokyo uncovered book as a guide, good book but the maps aren't all correct so make sure you have a back up! I've never been so lost in a place but it was half the fun :)

The apartment is exactly what you see in the pictures (minus the carpet). Everything is clean, internet is fast, the shower is awesome after a long flight, and the ac works. The sliding doors add an extra sense of privacy as well. However, if you are from America the apartment is a bit on a small side, but four of us slept comfortably. Just be sure to order a futon if you are more than a party of three. One last thing, is the whole recycling disbursement. It is a bit tricky, so be sure to follow instructions (you will know what I mean once you get to Japan). Location is equally great. The apartment is nestled in a quiet neighborhood, conveniently close to Nishi Ogikubo station, 24 supermarket, 24hr McDonald, and best ramen noodle house in town. Overall my friends and I were satisfied with the apartment and we would highly recommend it to any of our friends.

Four of us stayed at the Nishi-Ogikubo two-bedroom apartment during mid-March. Makoto-san was nice enough to meet us late on a weekend night to show us to the apartment and spent time explaining the apartment and other useful information. The apartment itself was really nice, with big comfortable beds and free internet, and even a washing machine if we needed to wash some clothes! The 24-hour supermarket near the apartment was also very convenient to us, and the station location was very close as well. In all, this was a very comfortable stay that saved us a lot of money if we were to have stayed at hotels!

Me and my mother stayed here a few months back and we loved it! The apartment was comfortable and spacious. It was also very clean and had many things already included such as shampoo, soap, and conditioner. The location was great, only a two minute walk to the station and within walking distance to lots of shops and places to eat. We loved having everything so close and were actually very sad when we had to leave to our next destination. We would recommend this place to anyone planning to stay in Tokyo and would definitely stay here again.

We (family of four) stayed in this apartment on Thanksgiving week (November, 2008). I cannot say enough good things about the apartment, access to the city and the neighborhood. Above all the hospitality and welcome by Mr. Makoto is unbelievably great. He gave all useful information a tourist need and always answered any question during our stay. It is very neat/clean and compact apartment with all necessary supplies. The area is very very easy to navigate has a great 24hr market, and internet cafe, and McDonald's, all within walking distance. If I am back in Tokyo in future, I am going to stay same place without any doubt. Thanks Mr. Makoto for making our trip a pleasant and memorable one. I

My wife and I stayed in this apartment in July 2008. I made the reservation in January and, as the date approached for us to leave for Tokyo, Makoto would periodically email me. He provided weather updates, thorough instructions on how to get to the unit, and a phone number I could use to reach him should we get lost on the way. We did get lost but Makoto was very patient, giving us instructions over the phone on how to navigate the trains and waiting at the station for us to arrive. The apartment itself was wonderful. Compared to many of the VRBO units that we have rented in Europe, the unit was quite spacious and clean. Especially the bathroom, which has a very deep tub -- a fantastic way to top off a day of sight-seeing and sooth aching muscles. The apartment is also air conditioned, which really is a necessary accommodation — summer in Tokyo is very, very hot and humid. The kitchen is adequate, equipped with all the basic tools required to prepare a meal. And the bed is very comfortable. I also appreciated the high-speed internet.Makoto made a point to explain the apartment to us and show us how everything worked. He had maps and brochures of local attractions to share with us and gave us a little gift, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we returned to Tokyo.

Great location due to its close proximity to 24hrs Seiyu supermarket and residential area.We could get snacks anytime of the day when we were hungry. My family and I did not fear going back late since the area was well-lit and there were a couple of neighbourhood shops to venture abt.Only thing we were not so keen was the strict guideline of recycling the rubbish. We were ok with recyling but there were too many things to take note of when we were throwing rubbish.Since we utilized the kitchen, it was kind of exasperating to sort out the rubbish after cooking. There should also be hooks in the toilet to hang dirty clothes or towel. All in all, everything was perfect for the 4 of us and Makoto has presented us with helpful information about the city which helped us during our trip. Will definitely stay here again if we were to come to Tokyo.Highly Recommended.

He had maps and brochures of local attractions to share with us and gave us a little gift, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we returned to Tokyo.

We just returned for a 9 night stay at this apartment. I will agree with what everyone else has said about the apartment. It is a very nice place, clean and comfortable. Location is great...a little suburb just 15 minutes from Shinjuku station. The people in the neighborhood are very friendly. We are 2 adults and 2 boys age 15 and 11. Although it is ideal for 2 adults, it is workable for a family of 4. My wife and I shared the large double bed, my 15 year-old slept on the futon and we brought a blow-up bed that we placed at the foot of our bed for the 11 year-old. The trains do come by often, but it did not affect our sleep and I am a pretty light sleeper. Makoto is great, very friendly, helpful and available to answer questions you may have. This is a very quaint and affordable place to stay in Tokyo and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to sleep while visiting this wonderful city!

We stayed at this apartment for 3 days and loved every minute of it. We were first greeted at the Nishi-Ogikubo station by Makoto, our wonderfully happy and friendly host, who showed us all the local conveniences before taking us to the apartment. We were initially worried about being away from inner Tokyo, but this was a blessing, and Nishi-Ogikubo actually has everything you could need without the chaos of downtown Tokyo and is still close to everything. There is a large supermarket next door to the apartment with a huge range of cheap ready to go meals (sushi, ton katsu, yakitori, fried chicken, rice etc), as well as a lots of fresh produce if you want to cook for yourself (but there is so much variety in the take-out supermarket food and its so cheap that its not really worth it). There is also a very nice Onsen only a few stations away that Makoto gave us information about. We loved the onsen so much we want to make one in Australia. The apartment itself was great. It is located almost over the train station, making it very convenient but the double glazed windows means you can barely hear the trains pass. It was very tastefully furnished and relatively spacious, with high speed internet and all the mod cons. Perfect for two people. We bought a JR rail pass in Australia which was worthwhile to travel on the shinkansen from Kyoto, but the NIshi-Okikubo line is a JR station, so you can travel for free within Tokyo on the JR lines for free with your pass (just flash it at the gate). Makoto gave us maps and we just made sure we stuck to the JR lines to get around. Only once did we pay for a subway ticket. We had such a great time we would love to come back, and we would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to our friends. We would much rather stay in an apartment than in a hotel so we experience a more genuine Japan. We only wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you Makoto!!!

We've rented the appt for a week, while staying there with our 5 months old son. The appt is small (at least to what we are used to), and has an avg bedroom with a comfy bed+TV+cupboard+DVD, and a very small dining room (not so effective for a family dinner), a nice bathroom and a kitchen (gas+stove+laundry machine). Mr. Makato - the host - was very helpful in giving the general info and supplying us with plenty of useful maps. The area is very nice and relatively quite, with nice restaurants and cool shops. Nice to stroll around. The 24 hrs supermarket is 1 min walk - and has everything you might need. It is approx. 20 mins by train from Shinjuku station - the center of Tokyo. The only - and profound drawback - was the closeness to the train tracks. The appt is literly situated on the tracks (approx. 20 m), and 100m from the train station. Though the windows are keeping the noise out, the trains passing by (every minute or two) are noticed. My spouse also calimed she could feel them....But, as I've noticed, half of Tokyo is situated near these tracks, so you just have to learn how to live with this... In general, nice appt, well located, wouldn't recommend it for families (the appt is not suitable for more than 2 grown-ups), not too cheap, comfy and efficient. Thanks ;-)

Despite waiting until the last minute to try and find a place to stay in Tokyo, Mr. Makoto was more than accommodating to my brother and I. He arranged to pick us up at the train station and walked us to the apartment which was only a few minutes away. He took the time to explain the recycling system and everything else in the apartment. We had a great experience and would definitely stay at one of Mr. Makoto apartment the next time I am Tokyo. Having the super market and the train station around the corner from the apartment was extremely convenient. While there try the Sushi place with the conveyor belt, the Izakaya next to it and the other pub with the ping pong table(can't remember the names of these places)but great time were had all three places. Gracias Makoto for our introduction to Tokyo and also the CD, it was a nice gesture. The music in it it's pretty good too.

We rented two separate apartments for our group of 5. We enjoyed our stay very much. Makoto was superb! He dealt with everything in a very friendly professional manner. And with a great sense of humour! He was very informative which helped especially when it came to getting around Tokyo. The apartments suited our every need. They where clean and well equipped. If we ever find ourselves in Tokyo again.... with out a doubt we would stay at the same apt's. Thanks again Makoto for your time and patience in dealing with us crazy canadians . And we will think of you on Aug.20! Thanks again for the CD. Cherlyn, Delaine, Mathew,Tony& Kristin

Very nice appartment. We were 4 linving there so it was a bit small but we were there only to sleep, so that was perfect! There's a nice grocery store at 1 minute by walk and the train at 5 minutes walking distance. The neighborhood is really safe (as the rest of Japan!) and the apartment responsable, Makoto, is really kind and helpfull! I recommend it for the price, the service and the facility around the apartment.

We stayed here for about seven nights with our 10 year old son while on our recent trip to Japan. We found it comfortable and spacious enough to suit our needs. We especially liked having Seiyu Market, a large grocery store, practically downstairs where we bought a lot of bentos and pastries. The apartment is very close to Nishi-Ogikubo Station. However, we found the Green Window at Nishiogkubu Station to be a little frustrating compared to the other offices we used at the larger stations-- the people at the JR Nishiogikubo Station did not seem as if they had encountered many tourists. As the other comments reflect, checking in and out is very easy, although you essentially have to make an appointment with Makoto in order to do so. However, Makoto is easy to reach, cheerful, and very service oriented. Now that we know the lay of the land a little better in Tokyo, Nishi-Ogikubo will definitely be one place we would definitely stay at again and we appreciate and enjoyed our stay there.

We stayed in this apartment from 12-20 Jul 08. There were 3 of us, including our baby and the apartment was spacious for us. The apartment was just a stone throw away from the seiyu supermarket which was opened 24hrs. So, there is no chance one will get hungry. The apartment was well equipped with all the necessities, especially the washing machine which we made use of everyday, thus allowing us to bring less set of clothes there. All the bathing essential was also provided. The kitchenette was also well equipped with all cooking utensils and cutlery. Makoto even provided us with some rice to cook. We spent some time in the neighbourhood and you can find many food outlets there which offered good food at a reasonable price. On our arrival day, Makoto picked us up at the train station and even on the air-conditioner in the apartment to cool down the apartment before picking us up. He was friendly, always packed a smile and was quick to answer any queries we had. He even gave a music CD as a gift. It was a small gesture but a very personal touch from him. We hope to go back to Japan one day and will certainly pick the same apartment to stay in again. Thank you Makoto-san

Our comment to this Nishi-Ogikubo apartment is long over due. But we still have fond memories of our Japan trip and this lovely apartment since summer, 2007.We traveled with our two kids, age 7 and 10. We were in Japan for two weeks and stayed in the Nishi-Ogikubo apartment for 4 nights and 5 days. The size of the apartment was perfect for our family, although one person had to sleep on the couch, the space is still sufficient. There was a fully equipped small kitchenette, but with the Seiyu Supermarket next door we never cooked once. You walked through the supermarket to get to the train station and there are more restaurants in the train station and beyond. You can’t go hungry in this location.Mr. Makoto was extremely polite and helpful. He met us at the train station and walked us to the apartment. He patiently explained the recycling system in Japan (we just finished a trip from Taiwan and it was just like Taiwan’s recycling system), all appliances in the apartment (there were clothes washer and dryer), made sure we know where we are going and made more suggestions before he left us. He even gave each of us a folding fan, which we found extremely helpful in Tokyo’s summer.Mr. Makoto made arrangements to meet us in the train station to pick up the key when we checked out. He gave us a bakery box and told us to open it on the train, which of course our kids ate the delicious baked goods as soon as Mr. Makoto left.We just think Mr. Makoto added that personal touch to our trip and he was a God sent to us in this foreign land when we spoke minimum Japanese.Great place! Great owner! Next time we will rent his two bedroom apartment since my kids will be bigger.

The Nishi-Ogikubo apartment was fantastic, so much better than a hotel, and the location could not have been better with the station and supermarket literally next door. The personal attention received from Makoto made our experience even more special. Thankyou Makoto. Just make sure if arriving in Tokyo on the weekend that you are given Makoto's cell phone number, as without it you may end up like us and have to find a hotel until the office opens on Monday morning. It was a very stressful time after arriving at the airport and waiting at the Nishi-Ogikubo station with no contact number, but all was forgotten when we saw Makoto's smile on Monday morning (and a refund was given).

We stayed for 4 days in early June 2008 We arrived at this cosy unit and Makoto met us at the train station. The 25 hr supermarket was extremely close. Unit is on the 5th floor and very glad for the sound proofing as it is right above the train station. Very Very cosy for 4 adults - the fold out couch is like a king single so you would really need to be 'close' friends to make this work for 4 people. The bathroom is fantastic. The location is the best thing about this unit - Nishi-Ogikubo train station was easy to get to everything - Shinjuku, Disneyland, Mt Fuji etc. The recycling was difficult - in the end we took our trash with us to the shopping centre and used their bins for general as we didnt want to spend the time sorting trash. The only complaint I would have is the unit does not have a dryer and getting you washing dry took some doing. Great space in the bedroom but the fold out tabel and fold out couch was in a very tiny space (pictures on here don't appear to be the same as the unit we stayed in). Kitchen great for meals. Definately value for money and well worth it. Would recommend this for 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Thanks Dee and Team Australia

The apartment was just enough. There were 3 of us and it never felt cramped! The apartment was well equipped with household products, appliances, etc...amenities that you would not be able to find in any hotel. The only con was that there was no housekeeping service, and you really have to be conscious of what you are throwing away since they recycle practically everything in Japan. That was certainly something to get use to since we only recycle bottles and cans in America. The area of Nishi-Ogikubo was great for eating and late night activities. We sampled really great Thai and Japanese cuisine from the local retaurants, and you could practically find everything you needed at the Seiyu supermarket!! I recommend the Doutor for breakfast sandwiches and the Yakiniku place by the station! Although most of the locals did not speak english, it was still a great experience! We just pointed to the menu and hoped it was good, and were not let down! Makoto was extremely nice and knowledgeable. Our flight was delayed and I felt bad that we were running behind schedule but Makoto was very understanding about the situation, and although we were late, he was able to meet with us. He even gave us a great welcome gift, much appreciated! He even took the time to show us how everything in the apartment worked and gave us some great information on what to do and see in Tokyo. The convenience of the apartment to the JR lines made it very easy to get around Tokyo. We invested in the JR Pass, which came in handy since it is good for Shinkansen (we took a 2-day trip to Kyoto), Narita Express, and all local JR lines!! It was well worth the 280.00 since we made good use of it daily! Just be warned, rush hour gets very packed on all the JR lines, especially the orange Chuo-line!! My only regret is that we didn't get to stop at Nakano, it looked like a really fun place, but there was just too much to do at Nishi-Ogikubo!! I look forward to visiting Tokyo again and staying at one of the apartments!! Thanks so much Makoto for helping to make this trip memorable
