We really had a great time in the Monticello lakehouse. Even if we went there during winter time, the view and ambiance was serene. It was the perfect place and environment to relax. The house is very spacious. We were a party of 6 when we rented the house for President's Day weekend. It was well-maintained and very clean. Beds were clean and comfortable, not too soft nor too firm. The hot tub was a very nice bonus for the house. We have been recommending it to our friends and I'm sure it would be nice too for a summer getaway. Surely, we will go back there in the coming future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for staying and I look forward to your return.

Two families went up for a long weekend in January. The house is huge and was great for a gathering of friends. Things I liked about the house: the flat panel TV in the great room, dining and kitchen right there so even the person cooking was part of the conversation, the private bedrooms off to either side of the great room - my wife, kids and I shared one 2-bedroom wing with a bathroom and our friends shared the other wing on the other side with their own bathroom. The full basement was perfect for the kids and that's where they spent most of their time. Hot tub was great and the winter scenery was great.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed your stay! You and your family are always welcome.

Wonderful Winter Wonderland!
Wonderful Winter Wonderland!

This is a wonderful home with a wonderful view in a wonderful location! We could not have picked a better spot. The home has a huge great room with a kitchen and dining area that flows into the living area. This is a clean and uncluttered home with a soaring ceiling and modern kitchen. With four bedrooms on the main level, it is large enough and perfect for a friends or family getaway. The great room's glass wall provides unobstructed views. We went in January and our winter view was a picturesque winter wonderland. We looked out to a huge multilevel deck, a huge lake beyond that, and woods across the lake that were glistening with snow! On the deck just outside the sliding glass door is a roomy hot tub where we enjoyed a stimulating water massage while relaxing in this winter wonderland. I almost forgot to mention the downstairs level. There is another huge rec room that walks out to a patio beneath the deck. For winter fun in the snow, it provides easy access to the outdoors on ground level. The bedrooms also have glass walls (with privacy curtains) so from your bed you can look out onto the scenery. With all the glass in this house you might wonder if it's drafty. Not at all! It's a warm and cozy house that you have to experience for yourself. This was a great winter retreat. I would love to come back in the summertime!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for choosing my vacation home. Please come back during the warm months as it it great to experience the Catskills during all seasons!

We had a great weekend at this home in the Catskills, there was plenty of room for all eight of our group. The hottub was just what the doctor ordered and the BBQ grill was great, we played fools ball and watched the Alabama and Georgia game on the 60 inch Flatscreen. Just a great get away less then two hour from the city... Can't wait to return again in the summer. Thanks You!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad you enjoyed the foosball! :)

My wife & I (and Ace our cat) enjoyed a week at this beautiful house, which was very clean, well stocked and maintained. My wife picked this house based on the west-facing lake view, as we really enjoy sunsets and cocktail hour :) We were not disappointed, as we saw some beautiful sunsets from the large deck and dock! We brought our kayaks and enjoyed paddling around this large reservoir (tip: paddle the southern half for really pristine views and lots of tranquility). There's a good mix of things to do nearby, including the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (site of Woodstock) which has an excellent museum depicting Woodstock). The owner provided good information about the area and promptly refunded our security deposit. Highly recommend this rental house!Owner response: Mike, I am glad you and your family enjoyed the home and lake. Swinging Bridge Reservoir is one of my favorite as the sunset mountain views are awesome!

The House: Great, only complaints is hard mattresses, and worn out pillows / comforters. No real master bedroom either. The Property: Good, only complaint is the dock is a floating dock so it gets very shaky if more than two people are standing on it fishing. TIPS / Advice for property renters: "I expect all of the partying that went on, denoted the excess garbage?" 1. Be careful of having excess trash, as the owner will assume it was because you were partying. 2. Be sure to check what is / isn't at the property. We were blamed for loosing a random metal chair floating away (untrue) - and oars to a canoe (that we never touched or used bc there was a dead catfish in it) 3. Plan to pay the hot tub fee. We had to refill ourselves with a hose in order to heat properly bc it was low. We left it very clean even put my own towel as a foot mat to wipe feet, and no one went from lake to hot tub (or in lake at all bc of temp) as in instructions, but I guess the pool guy and owner decided it was a win win for them since pool guy gets more $$ and owner gets a clean tub. "It appears your party enjoyed the house at the expense of my neighbors?" 4. Be warned about quiet hour, even if you abide by it you may be accused otherwise. 5. Be warned - over 6 cars apparently means you are having a rowdy party. Owner made assumptions once again that we were 'partying' since we had 6 vehicles, which shouldn't be a concern since the max capacity is 10. (Not everyone caravans together in 1 car) 6. Non-english speaking strangers may hang around the property. Although the owner seemed not to believe me or care, there were strangers on the property all weekend walking 10ft away from us and not speaking english when we tried to talk to them to find out why there were there. 7. Be prepared for finger pointing. Make sure owner has done inspection of property BEFORE your stay to note what is missing or you will be responsible for it. There was a lot happening after the fact that overshadowed the fun part of it. I feel a proper inspection of the house wasn't done prior to our stay so a lot fell on our laps. I was going to be above it and not review but owner just sent me this email to review, so ask and you shall receive...Owner response: Three of my neighbors complained about the wild party, loud music past midnight and fights in the yard at 1:30AM. There was excessive garbage left in the house, the patio lawn chairs were left floating in the water, rowboat paddles were left in the water and lost. Lastly the hot tub was filthy and had to be drained and cleaned. I am looking for responsible adults to rent and enjoy this peaceful and well kept vacation home vs. the party crowd. I have been renting this house since 2004 with many repeat clients that are on their fourth consecutive annual vacation.

We had a very good weekend at this house. The house is spacious, well appointed and has an amazing view. All bedrooms are on the same level making things easier if you are traveling with small children. The closets are stocked with linen. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for making a bar-b-q or any other meal. The Swinging Bridge Reservoir is very good for fishing. I was able to fish right off the dock. I caught small mouth bass, largemouth bass, pickerel, crappies, sunfish and rock bass using mostly crank bait. The hot tub is a nice way to relax after the kids are asleep. There is also a front yard and long driveway for the kids to play and ride bikes.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Paul, I am glad you enjoyed the Monticello Vacation home. Sounds like your family had a great vacation and took advantage of the many great amenities!
