This huge, old ex-hacienda midway between San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato, is situated outside Dolores Hidalgo in a small, safe, friendly village. Once a presidio, or fort, used to guard the caravans laden with silver along the Camino Real in 1567, it became a hacienda in the 1700's. Walls are meter-thick adobe. The haciendas were the castles of Mexico. This hacienda at one time owned nearly a million acres. It has housed the likes of Padre Hidalgo and Pancho Villa. Now the entire hacienda is available as a vacation rental, and it can house your special group.
Beautiful, rustic elegance, furnished with colonial antiques and local artisan pieces. Private, full-time staff of 18, including cooks, maids, gardeners, bilingual manager, massage therapists with spa services on site, and stable/pool personnel. There are 11 suites with private bath, with satellite TV and high-speed wireless internet, propane fireplaces, hot-and-cold water dispensers, sitting area, private terraces, and beautiful views of the Sierra Madres.
The pool is heated with a dozen solar panels to assure year-round comfort, and features a pool-side jacuzzi. The hacienda is approximately 50 rooms, including dining room, chapel, exercise room, library, etc., with more than 40,000 square feet under roof, and ten walled-in private acres. There are gardens and enormous porches. We have beds for up to 30 people, and are a perfect location for family reunions, special birthday celebrations, workshops, and weddings. All meals are included, and use of horses, exercise facility, and mountain bikes are complimentary, and included with your rental.

Most ex-haciendas are carefully guarded by their owners. It is difficult even to see them, let alone rent them. This is definitely not your average vacation rental. Please inquire early to avoid disappointment. We fill up very quickly.
