A week with 10 of us enjoying northern Michigan. The house was perfect for us and would be perfect even if our group was bigger. We enjoyed: - Swimming at the beach on Spider Lake - Pontoon Rides to all the islands on the lake including swimming island (this is a must do) - Seeing the Loons on Spider Lake - Playing on the floating raft - Rowing the boat on Bass Lake - Relaxing in the hot tub - Smores at the fire pit - Making family meals in the well stocked kitchen - Hiking at the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (a must visit) - Sampling the fresh cherries (I've never tasted cherries with that much flavor) - Geocaching on the trails around the lakes - kayaking around spider lake and exploring the island right in front of the property The house was as described in the descriptions and pictures and provided more than adequate space to relax and not feel like we were on top of each other. Renting the Pontoon boat was well worth it as we enjoyed many trips around the lake. The internet was blazing fast and handled all of our laptops and mobile devices. The house is clean and the air conditioning kept up with the hot temperatures (95+) outside. Peegio's was a neat place to eat and they have a good pizza selection with many specialty pizzas. They will deliver to the house. We were there over the fourth of July. The neighbors on Spider Lake put together a fireworks show that would rival many towns and cities firework shows. They launched them all from the small island directly in front of the house. It was amazing. The owner Ray met us when we arrived and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. He really made us feel welcome. We made many wonderful memories. If you are planning a trip to northern Michigan, I recommend staying at this house. It met or exceeded all of our expectations.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Our mission is to take care of our guests! I will hang out a day or two in the area to ensure they are comfortable with everything then depart to provide that privacy that guests deserve. Our goal is to be responsive. We are continually improving our property with new enhancements based on both our guests input and our own vision. I really like seeing the smiles.

I arrived at the place just in time for sunset over Spider Lake. It was gorgeous!! I walked inside and my mouth dropped!!! The kitchen and dining and living rooms are ideally set up for either small or large gatherings. The kitchen is large with plenty of cabinet space, a large refrigerator and two ovens. There was also a small fridge that we did not use just outside of the kitchen. There is a large island between the kitchen and the reading area, and a breakfast bar with long bench for lots of seating on the other side. The dining area next to the kitchen has a really comfortable wooden table and chairs seating 6-8. The kitchen cabinets, lights and drawers are well labeled for convenience. The reading area has a large leather overstuffed sofa with a couple overstuffed leather chairs. It is very, very comfy!!! The whole main floor has an open floor plan, but it is divided into a few areas as described that really make the space versatile and user friendly. The TV area is on the other side of the entry door has a large sleeper sofa and a few armchairs. A built in bookshelf makes the place feel very homey. There are two bedrooms on the main floor. One has a F/Q bed with adjacent bath. The master has a king with a very comfy mattress. A second bathroom is within the master suite, and a door and hallway separate the master suite from the rest of the main floor. Every single room has a beautiful view of Bass Lake!!! There are extra futons in the Master Suite and in the basement bedroom. Michigan State fans will be excited to see the stairway leading to the basement! (Michigan fans may want to bring along a can of paint! jk Ray :) Please note that the basement does feel colder than the rest of the house, so remember to put on plenty of blankets if needed. The basement room would be ideal in the summer, no AC necessary! I slept in the Master Suite, and I was able to enjoy a gorgeous sunrise over Bass Lake in the morning. OMG! But the view from the main level was the best feature about the cottage. There are windows on 3 sides and over 210 degree view of pure lake! The house sits atop a hill, so it affords full unobstructed views of Spider Lake on one side and Bass Lake on the other side. There is a large deck up top, outside the kitchen, with a hot tub overlooking Bass. A smaller sun deck is down by the lake. Also firepit, kayaks, fishing boat, pontoon and lots of kid sleeping space upstairs! Key: LOCATION, VIEWS!!!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We really enjoyed our stay, the setting is absolutely beautiful, the beds comfy and the main floor is very spacious with large windows. Lots of extras here like the two ovens, big grounds and two lakes with sandy beaches. It was close to Traverse City but still had privacy, especially during the Cherry Festival. Thank you very much, we enjoyed this stay, JimRecommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Ideally situated between 2 lakes with access to both. The property has direct access to Bass Lake which is a small fishing lake (lots of bass, go figure) and a nice little beach area for younger kids. I definitely recommend bringing your fishing gear and renting the kayaks - the wildlife viewing is wonderful including bald eagles. Spider Lake is accessible across the street with pontoon available for rent which I also recommend unless you bring your own. Very good swimming lake with a great sandy area around an island in the middle of the lake. You can wake board/water ski as well but the lake is a little small for doing a lot of that, and there are quite a few shallow areas to be careful of. The house itself is well laid out with an upper deck (with a nice hot tub) and walk-out basement bedroom. It's an older house with a cottage feel to it, and it's location on a hill gives a nice breeze throughout so even without central A/C (there is a larger unit in the common area though) this is not an issue even on hot summer days. My only gripe about the house is the listing of 6 bedrooms. While technically accurate, I would describe that only 3 of the bedrooms are suitable for adults as the other 3 are in the upstairs bungalow with a very low ceiling. It's perfect for the kids and you can cram at least 8 of them up there, but I don't recommend more than 6 adults if you want a bed. The location close to Traverse City and other area attractions is also very nice.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

This is a wonderful piece of property, unequaled! The setting is beautiful, the swimming is great and the house is well maintained and spacious. All our kids caught fish, told stories around the campfire and we enjoyed going to Traverse City, its really close.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
