Perfect Place to Stay on Caye Caulker!

Guest: Laurenw (Calgary, Alberta Canada)
Date of Stay: 03/05/12 Review Submitted: 03/26/12

My boyfriend and I just got back from 10 days on beautiful Caye Caulker and were very happy with our stay at the Sapphire House. The large secluded yard made the veranda a perfect place to read or relax in the hammock. The house was spacious and had everything we needed from towels to kitchen supplies to air conditioning. It can be a bit of a walk to the split so we rented bikes to get around easier, however our walks to and from town were always enjoyable. The island has a lot of fun to offer, we cannot wait to return!

Amazing Quiet Home

My friend and I went to Caye Caulker for a week after Christmas. We loved that Sapphire House was off the beaten path in a quiet area. We rented bikes and was at the Split in five minutes. It has lovely fauna and a great deck to watch the iguanas and birds at play. The owners and the house manager were extremely helpful and nice, and the house was clean and well maintained. Great for a family or two couples! I would definitely visit again!

A quiet corner on Caye Caulker

Date of Stay: 12/11/11 Review Submitted: 12/20/11

Our stay at Sapphire House was very nice. Our week featured rainy days and hot days alternately and we were very comfortable there. We did find the walk to the Split a bit long after the first few times and VERY long in the midst of tropical storms and so we'd suggest renting bikes. It makes the distances a non-issue. While the Caye has changed a lot since I was here 20 years ago, it's still a wonderfully laid back place to relax. Thanks for an enjoyable week!

Great house - everything I expected plus more

If you are visiting Caye Caulker, this is the house you need to stay in. It is in a great location, and the house itself was amazing. The full size kitchen, and large sitting area made eating meals in extremely easy. The house is close enough to walk to the island airport if you fly in, walk to the split to hang out, and secluded enough to have a quite evening on the porch.

Lovely house!

Sapphire House is very clean and spacious. It has a large yard, and a porch that provides great opportunities for bird watching. It is close to the airstrip, but as planes only arrive (maybe) twice a day there's no noise concern. It's a little bit far from the center of town, but we rented bikes and found that we really enjoyed the short ride in. It only takes about 5 minutes to get from the house up to the split on two wheels. On the flip side it is very peaceful and quiet away from the bars and restaurants. All in all we had a lovely honeymoon! We are already trying to figure out how we can get back to Caye Caulker.

Wonderful stay at the Sapphire House!

Date of Stay: 07/20/11 Review Submitted: 11/04/11

My boyfriend and I stayed at Sapphire House for 5 nights and it was a great place to stay! It's a short walk or bike ride away from the main streets of town, so it was nice and quiet after a day of snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, or exploring the island. The house was clean, spacious, and sunny. The balcony was an added bonus, and the kitchen had everything you'd need to prepare meals at the house. Both the owners and property managers were helpful in making sure we had a pleasant stay, and the property managers were just a few minutes or phone call away in case you needed anything. The house would be great for families or 4 people, we had more than enough room. I would recommend this house to family or friends visiting Caye Caulker and we hope to return someday! Snorkeling with manatees, nurse sharks and sea turtles was my favorite part of our stay. The island was fun and laid back, and the quick bike ride to the split for a swim was great during hot afternoons! There are lots of restaurants close by if you don't feel like cooking. Overall, we had wonderful time staying on Caye Caulker and Sapphire house was icing on the cake!

We had a wonderful time at the sapphire house. THe house was great and the location was so quiet and peaceful. The short walk into town was always pleasant and you could take so many routes to see something new each time. I would highly recommend the sapphire house for your stay in Belize. It was close to everything and it was truly an escape from the busy world.

Sapphire House, Caye Caulker

Sapphire House is beautiful...loved waking up in the morning to the birds singing and the breeze blowing thru the curtains! We could feel our blood pressure go down, down as we adjusted to the pace of Island life. We rented bikes and rode to the beach or split every morning. I never tired of looking out at the blues in the water. We went snorkling and fishing with a local company - which were adventures! (especially swimming with the rays and nurse sharks!). The guides were very knowledgeable and fun. We caught a lot of fish and I did cook one dinner!! Otherwise we sampled many restaurants and local cusine. We took the water taxi to the island but flew back to Belize, so it was nice to see our surroundings from different angles. We never left the island to explore San Pedro or surrounding islands as everything we wanted was right there on Caye Caulker. The house was charming and spotless. The caretakers were welcoming and helpful. We definately will be back someday when we need a fix of stress-free island life!

Sapphire House Caye Caulker, Belize

We spent two weeks over Christmas and felt we would have liked to have stayed longer because we enjoyed everything so much. The house was more than we expected. It is spacious and well furnished including the kitchen. Even though the local resturants were excellant, we prepared half our meals at the house. There were local shops and stands with fresh fruits and vegetables. We found a meat market near the water taxi dock that had excellant chicken and pork, avoid the beef. The Bakery for cinnamon rolls, Rose's for seafood, Glenda's for breakfast, the Sport's Bar for lunch were all our favorites. We had morning coffee on the porch overlooking a beautiful garden which attracted a variety of birds. So many, we actually used the bird book many times to identify yet another one we had not seen before. The house and Caye Caulker are safe. At no time did we have reason to worry. We highly recommend the day tour to Altun Ha booked through E-Z Boy Tours. We also recommend that you rent bicyles. If we had to summarise our vacation in one word-relaxing. Would we return to Caye Caulker-yes. Would we stay at Sapphire House-absolutely. Carol and John

Loved Caye Caulker and the Sapphire House!!

The house was even nicer than the pictures. Everything was clean and ready for our stay. The owner even left a couple of beers in the fridge. They sure tasted good and were appreciated after the long journey to get there. The island is only about a mile long but it sure feels bigger after walking around so I would recommend renting bikes for the week. We had so much fun riding around and waving to all the friendly people who live there. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts as we got engaged during our stay. We hope to return soon but if not we would recommend it to all our family and friends!

I recommend this house without reservation. It is everything the pictures say it is. Caye Caulker is a charming place to stay, and this house is a little removed from the busyness of the town for excellent rest and relaxation. It is quiet, air conditioned, and clean. If you have up to 4 people, this house is for you! Additionally, the owners and on site managers are gracious and concerned that you are well cared for.

Excelent time at Sapphire House

We spent a week at Sapphire House on Caye Caulker. The house is, if anything, better than described. It is roomy and airy with nice high ceilings, plenty of space and very clean throughout. The yard is big and private, completley fenced in. Our five year old enjoyed playing cars in the sand in the yard while we were able to enjoy beverages on the deck with no worries about him at all. It is nice and quiet at night, we had a good time just watching the fireflies in the bushes while sitting on the deck at night. The house has full AC but we only used the fans , finding them more than enough for good air movement. The house is excellent for two couples or a family with one or two children. Joanne, the contact on the island, is freindly and very helpful but not intrusive at all. If you need her she is five minutes down the road or at the end of the phone. If you don't need her she's not around. Here's a couple of hints for a good time on Caye Caulker. Order up a case of beer, 24, along with a 5 gallon jug of water delivered to the house for $22.00 U.S.D. the phone number is in the book in the house. Rent bikes to get around on. Go swimming at The Split, and don't be afraid to try the food there, it's really good. Good catch of the day at Rose's, good times at Barrier Reef Bar, good lunch, breakfast at Coco Loco's. Go slow and enjoy yourself. Not only would we recommend this house to friends we would return again ourselves no problem.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sapphire House. It felt like a home away from home. The house had all the amenities and well equiped with all the basics. The balcony was very relaxing but most of all the AC and satellite TV were the best. We went during a very hot and humid and rainy time of the year and it was our life savor. Joanne and Jaquar (property manager) were extremly nice and helpful. The house is a short walking distance to the main street but feel free to rent a bicycle. We enjoyed walking through the neighborhoods and school. The taxi service is very friendly and always available. We plan on returning during a different time of year and would definitely stay at the Sapphire House again.

My family of four (husband, 9 year old son & 12 year old niece) stayed in April. The Sapphire House was exactly as described and provided a sense of home during our 10 day vacation. The kids chilled out watching TV, the kitchen had everything we needed and the location was perfect. We walked to town at least once a day! The snorkeling was awesome and the people very nice. Overall a great stay and we hope to stay again soon.

We have just returned from a week at Sapphire house and found it to be the perfect place for a truly relaxing vacation. The house is airy and cool and the front porch was a favorite hangout. Cooking at the house was a breeze. Everything you need is right there. Just far enough off the beaten path the house is quite and private. I recommend the sunrises from the quiet piers near the airport. I can't wait to return to Caulker Caye. The friendly people and the laid back island lifestyle were just fantastic. What's not to love?

We recently returned from a 12 day stay in Belize and spent much of it at Sapphire House on Caye Caulker. We loved the fact that the house is located on the south end of the island; brief walking distance to the main village but far enough away to provide us the peace and quiet we desired after a day of exploring the many activities/restaurants/bars on Caye Caulker. The house is set back from the road amongst a large lot filled with beautiful vegetation. We spent a great deal of time on the large front porch and took advantage of the well equipped kitchen to cook meals when we felt like eating in. We saw many other nice accommodations on Caulker, but we all agreed we had made the right choice with Sapphire House; it really did feel like a home away from home. The owners were quite helpful to us as we planned our trip and Luciana, who manages the property, was a great resource while we were on Caulker. Belize is a beautiful country with a myriad of activities to keep visitors busy. Should our future travel plans include Caye Caulker, we would certainly book the Sapphire House again. Great trip!

We can't tell you how much we enjoyed both your home and the caye. It was the perfect fit for our family and we certainly enjoyed the personalized service. The Sapphire House is in the perfect location and allowed us both the access and quiet time we needed. The diving was spectacular and not to be missed. The highlight of our vacation was our three tank diving day to the Blue Hole. Thanks again and I will pass your vacation home to all my family and friends for future trips.

I can't say enough good things about this house. It had all the amenities you could ever need and more. Perfectly located: just a quick walk to the main streets of Caye Caulker, but just far away enough to enjoy some seclusion and privacy. The owners are extremely nice and accommodating and Luciana, the local manager, is the nicest, most helpful person. A great house on a great island. Thanks so much!

June 23, 2008 We have just returned from a stay at Sapphire House on Caye Caulker. It is a perfect family vacation home --- clean, relaxing, cheerful, and with all we needed to make our stay comfortable. In fact, it is one of our favorite VRBO homes we have stayed in. It has a wonderful, fully stocked kitchen. We rented bikes for 4 days and it was great fun. Rode down the street for cinnemon rolls and freshly squeezed fruit juice each morning. The only suggestion we have is to add a DVD player. It would be nice for longer stays. Luciana was a wonderful manager. She met us, gave us great suggestions for local restaurants, etc, and even had fresh flowers on the table. You can't go wrong with this vacation home.

We loved Sapphire House and would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone. The location was great because it was a quiet refuge to come back to throughout the day and evening, and the walking to and from the town core was a welcome bit of exercise and "sightseeing". The house itself is nice and cool, bright and airy, clean and beautiful. It was also great to have greenery all around, and the well-used balcony and hammock. Caye Caulker is a quiet, friendly town - a great place to slow down, eat great seafood and enjoy amazing snorkeling/diving excursions. The local people are warm, welcoming and easy-going.

We just had a fantastic vacation in Caye Caulker staying at Sapphire House. The house is quiet-away from the center of town, spacious and airy, and charmingly decorated. Everything you need to cook is there. We enjoyed making meals as well as the wonderful seafood one can buy at most restaurants on the island. Ask Sandy at Barefoot Beach Hotel for Bert's # if you want to learn how to scuba dive. He's the best!!

My wife and I spent a week at the Sapphire House in Oct. The home is well equipped, clean, roomy, and very cute. Everything you need is furnished. It has ceiling fans, but it can get a bit hot on the island, so a/c would be a plus. It is conveniently located near the airport and just a short walk to downdown. I think you will enjoy it, we did. Caye Caulker has the friendliest people willing to help in any way they can. Enjoy your stay.

We stayed at this wonderful house in December. Wonderful weather and wonderful house. Nice and quiet. Our kids loved having their own bedroom and the fish bedding. The hammock on the balcony was a big hit too. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pans, spices and even a smoothy maker! Great for fixing your own breakfast and lunch. The washing machine and the big "sparklettes" sized water bottle were very convienent too. We definitly recommend this great getaway house!
