Why the Owner Chose Estes Park
Love the mountains. Estes Park is especially breathtaking. It is only 1 hour from my doorstep. Was driving around one day before joining friends in Glen Haven for dinner, and came across this cabin for sale that I knew was just for me, a 1935 vintage cabin with wonderful bones and a covered porch with awesome views of Longs Peak and only a mile from downtown and yet very set apart, quiet and secluded that needed a ton of updating and redecorating. Peeked in the windows and decided there had to be hardwood floors under the ugly carpet, called the owner, scared myself silly by doing a reverse 1031 Exchange with a duplex I owned in Steamboat, and living happily everafter. Motto: "Destined to be an old woman with no regrets".
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
Lounging in the hammocks. Cooking on the outdoor grill. Watching and feeding the hummingbirds. Coming home one day at noon and finding 3 policeman at the property scaring off a bear that attempted to enter through the back screen. Watching a mother elk right after giving birth to her baby just steps from the back door of the cabana. Watched them all day long. Watching a bull elk guard his harem of 10 all day one Saturday just outside the covered porch with friends from Greeley. Watching coyotes and red fox cross the yard. Love the big blue jays. Have white lights up in the crabapple tree that shed the most beautiful pink glow over the tables in the courtyard. Having dinners with guests that invite me up and getting to know them. Having a guest enjoy getting engaged on the front porch, or having a wedding reception at the cabin, and the young families that so enjoy the property. Had a fantastic family reunion with 100% participation - 36 of us from all over the US. Live music, catered food, oh my! Taking a nap on the iron bed on the front porch. Reading a book with a fire roaring and the smell of logs burning in the white brick fireplace. Loud music when I am alone. Snowfalls are so majical. The most cozy and wonderful dining room with place settings, transferware, and candlelight! So enjoy hanging the wash on the clothesline in the sun and the fresh clean linen smell when folding.
Restaurants, Pharmacy, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pizza, Theatre and wonderful Shops

8th Annual Women's Fall Trip - Like a cleaning tornado I tore through my desk this morning, only to discover your stamped and ready to go envelope laying upon my desk. Barefooted, I ran to the mailbox and placed our deposit in with good wishes and my apologies for taking an extra couple of days. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us. We've had a flurries of emails transpire, mostly on requests for the hammock, green Adirondack chair and outside day bed; we may have an arm wrestling contest for the privilege to stay in the Cabana. Best wishes, Greta

Destressed, building family ties, seeing the mountains. Hiked, ate, rode horses; saw waterfalls on the old Fall River road; ate, hiked somemore, got caught in a hailing thunderstorm at Emerald Lake, ate, went rafting on the Poudre, ate, and slept really well! Met horseback guides from Iowa, a teacher who summers as a raft guide; a waitress from Slovakia. Places I would recommend: Poppy's for pizza! The Malt Shoppe for ice cream. The 5 and 10 cent store for fun kid shopping. S&K Stables at the RMNP entrance. The falls at Calypso Cascades. Favorite moments and special highlights: That thunderstorm-what a bonding; playing hearts as a family; watching the hummingbirds; horseback riding (Aidan's first time!) Thank You for sharing this quaint, cozy cottage

Sitting on the back porch for all our meals. Watching our girls bond together in a sweet friendship and watching my girls and their daddy swinging in the hammock with shrills of giggles and laughter. An enchanting, delightful and whimsical cottage and really enjoyed our stay.

Just wanted to get away with our boys. Josh is in the Navy. Kyle is a junior in High School. Hiked RMNP, Mills Creek and boys hiked up Old Man Mtn. Had our pictures made by The Perfect Portrait. She was great. Played Poker and Spades every night. The boys traded nights out on the porch bed. Chris napped there in the day. I watched all the animals and took 7 rolls of film. The Butcher Shoppe has great meat. We grilled out almost every night. It was wonderful. OH MY JOANN! This house was just the perfect spot for us. I'm so glad we were able to meet you and your mother. You are quite the pair. I can't help but think that you have a great life's story. My boys just think you're awesome. And I guess I'm going to take a picture of the picture in the bedroom. This house sure stirred up a lot of memories. The boys were able to spend time together and really bond, hiking and playing games. This has been one of the best places we have been. I think I would move here. It has been so peaceful. The boys just want to stay at the house and hang out instead of going into town. That says a lot. JoAnn you have just been such a treat to meet and I really admire you for taking care of your mother. She is a treasure too. I hope we will be able to come and see you again. I will send you a picture of the family. Thanks for everything! Chris, Tracy, Josh and Kyle.

Front porch engagement with diamond ring - Hiked, had my niece's children for several days. Had my best friend from Idaho visit. My sister from Loveland came up several times, played Putt Putt, gokarts, shopped, read, worked all the jigsaw puzzles in the house, worked out at Curves 3x a week, sat on the front porch and enjoyed the hummingbirds!! Picniced around Glen Haven. Recommend Mary's Lake Lodge, Baldpate Inn, Fusion 45. Best hikes are Bear Lake, Lily Lake, Sprague Lake. Nicky's - greatest surf and turf eating! I got engaged on the front porch on July 20th. The very best and most special moment!! Richard asked me to marry him! Joanne, I have truly enjoyed every moment in your home. You are such a gracious and interesting landlady. I enjoyed seeing the progress on your little garage unit. This has truly been a wonderful get-away. Everyone that visited me loved this psecial place as much as I do. I did so enjoy meeting your Mother and Ernie. This has been a wonderful 3 weeks. Thank you so much!!! Candy

Toured the Park, chewed the Rag with Bills, enjoyed your relaxing, comfy, romantic, quaint home on the hill. Alice and I stayed in the Casita, great little house. Thank You for graciously sharing your blessings with us. Come to Bellingham, it too is a lovely place ... and we will reciprocate. God Bless!

8th Annual "Women's Fall Trip" no kids, no dogs, no husbands, no worries. Snacked, nibbled, cooked, candle-lit dinners, read 100 magazines, sat on all the various yummy patio areas, laughed, cried, laughed more, sang around the campfire, watched the changing light on the rock formations, got pedicures, marveled at all the lovely pieces of this cabin - a surprise behind every cupboard and corner. Beautiful, impeccable, warm and welcoming retreat. We love your pink pots and real wine glasses. This is no ordinary rental. Not by a long shot, baby. Had cosmos in flamingo martini glasses, spent time on the porch bed, shooting stars from the hammock; listening to the coyotes howl to each other. We treasured every moment.

First Honeymooners! Joanne, we feel so relaxed and re-fuelled -- almost ready to re-enter our overwhelming urban lives in Oakland. Quite a little sanctuary you have created here. We really appreciated your sense of style and amazing collection of antiques and eclectic objects. Made us feel like we were in a real home with much history! Lolled on the porch. Made elaborate dinners and read for hours in front of the fireplace. Went on 2 long hikes in RMNP. Favorite moment was having a hummingbird orbit my head for 30 seconds. (I think he was trying to chase me away.) and watching the clouds from the hammock. Thanks Again! Truly, Stacey & Jonathan

Relaxing weekend with California friends. Enjoyed a real fire - in fact several - the elk visits to the cabin to eat the crabapples in the courtyard - and jelly to come. You have created a marvelous retreat. You can feel the wonderful spirit and joy here. Thanks for being you and enriching my life.
