    • My friend Cornelia, from San Francisco, and I stayed at La Unica for 5 nights in March 2009. Marily and Pedro were so helpful! Prior to arriving, they provided Airport, taxi and Argentina web links. After arriving, they provided us with home made maps of the surrounding area, pointing out the local supermarket; pharmacy; banks; bakery; and more. They provided us with a cell phone in case we needed to get in touch with them and/or for local calls. If we needed any help, they were there to provide it. With our very limited Spanish, they were great! Marily even found Cornelia's long lost Argentinean friend. The apartment worked out great. It was located close to the Subte (subway) which worked out well for areas further away. Having the use of a computer was wonderful, since it allowed us to keep in touch with family back in the states. Marily and Pedro even shared their son's Tango CD - "Tangologia". Marily and Pedro were wonderful landlords and our visit to Argentina was wonderful!

    • My mom and I stayed at "La Unica" for a week in February 2009, and it was just one part of our delightful visit to BsAs! Marily and Pedro were so accommodating, full of information, and kind enough to give us a cell phone to use, in case we had a problem (which we never did). The apartment was more than large enough for the two of us, we ate breakfast & one other meal there every day, and appreciated having the computer to keep in touch with family in the states. Around the corner we found fresh produce stands, the grocery store, and the Subte (easy & cheap to use). Our location couldn't have been better, our landlords couldn't have been nicer, and the visit to Argentina was fabulous!

    • Staying at La Unica was wonderful!!! My husband and I plus two other guests had a great time exploring the city from this location. The beautiful apartment made me feel like I was visiting long lost relatives. My Spanish is not the best but with Marily and Pedro's help we were able to see and do everything we wanted during our short stay. La Unica made our memories of BA just that much richer!!

    • I spent two weeks at La_Unica in April/May 2008; a friend joined me for a week. Other people commented on Marily & Pedro’s hospitality. Our experience was similar, “in spades”. They took extraordinary steps to make sure that we could get to do whatever we wanted. I can’t think of anything else they could have done. We could call them or one of their sons at any time for assistance. They also provided guides and a large map which supplemented our own. The apartment was quite comfortable for us. There were a few English-language airplane novels and about a zillion Spanish-language books including one of Marily’s. We could relax in the large living room after each outing, and read or watch the news, or any of many TV channels if we wanted to. Lots of futbol was available, there were also some English-language shows. Of particular use for us was the computer which enabled us to keep touch with developments back home in San Francisco. Skype was also installed on the computer although we did not use it. Some how-to-use this-or-that instructions were available on the computer and in the kitchen. There was a land-line phone and a cell phone which were useful for ordering taxis and for making a couple of emergency calls back to the US. We didn’t attempt to cook dinner there as it seemed crazy to do that when wonderful beef was available in nearly every restaurant inexpensively. We could have done so, and were comfortable enough at breakfast. I would have liked a draining board in the kitchen to use when washing dishes. We worked out how to handle garbage, BA has one of the weirdest collection systems – there’s an informal process and a formal process – around. There was a small restaurant close by which allowed us to eat dinner very early, just after 8:00 pm! We had upscale very good meals at nearby Café de Los Angelitos; our favorite restaurant turned out to be DesNivel at Defensa 855 in San Telmo. It was very easy to shop for basics at the Carrefour Supermarket just around the corner on Avenida Rivadavia, and Marily & Pedro guided us to some Artisan curio and leather shops close by. Transportation on the SubTe, also nearby, was easy enough: I expected to see Queen Victoria riding on Line A, but she never showed up. We found a statistic in one of our guide books that BA was the 4th noisiest city in the world. It certainly seems true, and it helped some that the apartment is on the fifth floor. We made an overnight trip to Iguassu, which I had set up with a travel agency before-hand! We didn’t dare to go to a futbol game in person though, even though I grew up on futbol and went to college in Manchester of all places. In summary, it was an interesting and very worthwhile trip, greatly enhanced by Marily & Pedro’s hospitality. Emmanuel

    • Our stay in Buenos Aires, the capital of tango, was perfectly divine, and our hosts, Marily and Pedro, at La Unica are such nice people. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, even dropping by to invite us to coffee one morning. I cannot imagine two nicer people as "landlords."

    • I am writing this email from the computer in Marily´s beautiful apartment. This is our last day in Buenos Aires, and staying here at La Unica has been a delightful treat. Marily and Pedro are gracious hosts and the apartment is full of history and character, as is the neighborhood. The location is excellent (only two blocks from Cafe de los Angelitos, where we enjoyed coffee in the mornings and saw a spectacular tango show in the evening), and the apartment is spacious, comfortable and inviting. We will definitely return to this magical city, and we will definitely stay here again. Having met Marily and Pedro, we feel we have been fortunate to make two wonderful new friends.

    • Staying in La Unica has been a wonderful experience for our entire family. It started before we even arrived in Buenos Aires with the initial contact we had with Marily and Pedro, who have been fantastic hosts and our new Argentinian family. They have been helpful, understanding and treated us as their relatives, rather than paying guests. They have done so much to accommodate out baby daughter and to make sure that our stay (and her stay) is pleasant and confortable and safe. They went as far as to install a little baby safety gate to the stairs, borrow the cot from their granddaughter and find a babysitter. They picked us up from the airport and were there for us whenever we called. We never would have got this anywhere else. We plan to return as soon as possible because more than any other wonderful experience that we will take away with us from Argentina, we will keep them and their charming little place in our hearts!

    • What a lovely place to stay. This 90 some year old residence has charm and style and Mari Lee and her husband, Pedro were so welcoming to us. We felt at home in this wonderful country. We loved the empanadas across the street (el cocodrilo) and the many small cafes which served great cafe and media lunas. The hair salon across the street was a true find--Mabella's. We got many massages, hair do's, and nails. The prices are incredibly affordable. It was easy to get around Buenos Aires from La Unica--taxis everywhere and at a very reasonable cost. Tango lessons! I'd visit again and stay at La Unica. Definitely visitor friendly--this gets an A+ !

    • La Unica was a beautiful, charming, comfortable and delightful place to stay. All restaurants, stores, shopping, beauty salons, bookstores and gym were within a block from the apartment. It was like living in the neighborhood. The owner is very hospitable and so accommodating. We would highly recommend this location to visitors.
