UNBELIEVABLE!! Took my wife and three other couples to St. Barts for her 40th. This is the most beautiful, relaxing house I have ever had the privilege to stay in. The house and pool are imaculate and the views are unbeatable. St Barts is a beautiful island, but we always found ourselves wanting to go back to Villa-la-Fregate. I highly recommend this house! Can't wait to go back.

Luxury in paradise

Alot of people think that St. Barts is very glitzy, but you don't have to be a jet-setter to enjoy it. Accomodations are pricey because there are no huge hotels or condos, and availability is limited. But once you're there, you can live quite modestly. There are wonderful small restauants and pizza places on the island that are affordable, plus if you like to cook, the supermarkets have everything you could possibly want. Wine is an incredible bargain on St. Barts (in the stores, not the restaurants!) It's cheaper there than in France, because the St. Bartians don't have to pay the VAT, which is almost 20%. Our very favorite thing to do is to buy a bottle of wine or two, a couple of baguette sandwiches, and drive to one of the eight beautiful beaches and have a picnic lunch (total cost - 15 bucks). We stayed in this villa last winter for three weeks. It is the best villa we have found on St. Barts in this price range, and we have been going there for ten years. The furnishings are very comfortable, with lots of nice seating areas. There's good lighting, a great sattelite radio stereo/tv system, and wireless internet, plus computer-printer-fax station provided. We had a few days of rain (not normal!) but having to stay inside in this villa is a pleasure. The beds are wonderful, 3 kings and one room with twins (I think that's right, please ask), excellent quality american-style mattresses. The kitchen was very well-equipped, and when I asked if there was an espresso maker, they went out and bought one! Everything is super-clean and well-maintained. Owners are very responsive to any request. The pool decking is very large with lots of room for entertaining. The views are fabulous! My husband is a runner, and it's also a good part of the island for that, because there is less traffic on this end of the island. You definitely need a rental car here, Gustavia is a 15 min. drive. I don't think most teens would like this, unless they had friends along, because they can't drive, and the nearest "action" is a 20 min walk away. To sum up, I highly recommend this villa. We are going back in January for two weeks!
