It sits on a quiet residential street several blocks from the main road so guests sleep to the gentle sounds of the ocean, the birds and the tropical breeze without unwelcome highway noise.
This exquisite studio has been carefully "re-crafted" from a 1930’s bungalow. The "Honu Hale" studio is an intimate and tranquil vacation home for the couple who wants to enjoy each other in a luxurious tropical setting. It is joined by a "Lock off" door to the main house (VRBO listing #71513) which is designed to allow for separate private occupancy or expansion to sleep up to 10 guests when the studio is rented together with the main house.
Vintage fixtures remain including antique glass fishing net balls set in the walls many years ago and the original pedestal sink and toilet from the 1930s. The carefully restored vintage fixtures in the bath are complimented by a new oversized stone shower with plenty of room for two featuring a "Rain" head to simulate the warm island showers. New Indonesian Teak furnishings complete the interior along with "Tommy Bahama" fabrics on the oversized Rattan chairs.
These carefully restored features of the home are enhanced by the new granite countertops, Jen-Air range and bar. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, cooking utensils and a BBQ to allow guests to create their own island feasts on the private lanai. The new queen Murphy Bed easily disappears into the wall cabinet during the day to allow the Studio to become a spacious bungalow for two or a second living area when rented together with the main house.
If guests wish to skip the cooking, the finest bakery on the North Shore, "Ted’s," is just a three-minute walk from "Honu Hale" - the home of great tasting breakfasts and authentic Hawaiian "plate lunches."
A private lanai/deck expands the living space to the outdoors and serves as a perfect place to enjoy the breeze and the sounds of this tropical paradise. An outdoor shower for guests returning from the beach and full laundry facilities are provided.
For the Golfer, the world class Turtle Bay Resort and PGA tour stop is only five minutes away. The resort is home to some of the best fine dining on the island. If Golf is not your game there are many alternatives within minutes of "Honu Hale" including horse back riding on the beach, breath-taking hikes and bike paths through the tropical Pupukea hills. All kinds of recreational, tours, activities and equipment are available nearby. Swim with the turtles at "sharks cove" or enjoy the beauty of Waimea Bay just a few minutes away.
