Beautiful ocean and mountain views only add to this already beautiful and spacious home. And, if you have never been to Puamana, don't be surprised if you find yourself wanting to return year after year as many other visitors do.
You can walk to historic downtown Lahaina from our home (less than one mile), or take one of the two bikes we make available to our guests. You will also find boogie boards, some fins and masks and beach toys.
Puamana is a picturesque, gated oceanfront community on 30 acres of lovingly maintained tropical grounds. There are three swimming pools (including one right on the ocean), tennis and badminton courts, a restored plantation home/clubhouse, and large grassy open spaces overlooking the ocean with hammocks for lounging in the sun or watching the spectacular sunsets. And Puamana is a well-known surf spot that residents can access right from the property!
This 2,000 square foot home offers all the comforts of home, but in a gorgeous, tropical setting. Besides three bedrooms and bathrooms, there are two expansive lanais for relaxing or entertaining while enjoying the ocean views, a large den/family room on the second floor, and a separate office area (if you really have to work!).

It is set up with all the comforts of home, and if there is anything you need, our assistant lives nearby and is just a phone call away.

This is a great place! The unit is very nicely decorated and comfortable. Lot's of space. The Puamana grounds are beautiful and well kept. It was nice to in a quiet place but close to the action of Lahaina. We enjoyed our stay and would not hestitate to return.

We stayed in this home the week before Christmas (12/11) and it was a perfect location for our family celebration. We had 9 people in all; 3 couples and 3 children. Having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, plus the large upstairs family room area with twin beds plus 2 large couches made for great sleeping arrangements. The kitchen was well supplied and the outside lanai a wonderful place for family meals. It's easy walking distance into Lahaina and beach locations. Snorkel gear, beach toys, and chairs make a day spent on the beach an easy venture. I would highly recommend this home for making awesome family memories!

We just returned from spending a week in Maui where we stayed in this home and it was wonderful. We have 4 kids between the two families and found this rental to be a perfect set-up for our vacation. The home is better than advertised as it is very spacious. The downstairs living area is great, but the upstairs is even larger with a great area for the kids to run around and play. Plenty of sleeping options as well, which is great for two families with both babies and young kids. The kitchen is spacious and well-appointed with all the appliances that I could think to need. The storage room outside is packed with boogie boards, grass mats, beach buckets and shovels, umbrellas, chairs, tennis rackets/balls, and other stuff to help you enjoy your vacation without having to go buy stuff that is expensive and that you can't take home with you. The Puamana grounds are very nice with lots of green space, very nice pools, and a tennis court. We surfed out in front of Puamana several days with great swell and while the beaches aren't really large, they are nice and not crowded at all. The staff at the clubhouse were very nice and helpful when we had questions. We would definitely recommend checking out Ohana Tacos in Kaanapali in the parking lot of Pizza Hut - it's a food cart that is only there from 6-10pm on M-F, but it's totally worth the drive and the fish tacos are SOOOO good! We went to Ululanis Hawaiian Shave Ice every day in downtown Lahaina. Our family loves shave ice, and this is the best we've had. Make sure to get the coconut (haupia) ice cream on the bottom and "snow cap" on the top or even handmade mochi. Many of the fruit syrups are actually fruit puree. Again, so good! It's only about 1 mile to downtown Lahaina so if you didn't have a car, you could still walk to eat, shop or check out the harbor. We rented surf boards from Boss Frogs and the Local Motion store over - both had great selection and we would use them again. I rented a high-end road bicycle from Boss Frogs which was great as well. In summary, we found this to be a wonderful vacation rental for our two families with kids and we would love to stay here again and highly recommend this home.

The following is an unsolicited review of 17-1 Puamana. We are checking out today after a 7 night stay. This was our 5th stay in Maui, and the first time staying in the Lahaina area. We are travelling with my wife's parents who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last night (we highly recommend the Dinner Cruise on the Maui Princess!). Before booking here, we did the usual extensive internet searching for the nicest and best value accommodation. Although we were a little concerned about booking a property from "off-island" owners, we did so anyway and crossed our fingers everything would go well. Fortunately, this place has exceeded our expectations in many ways. - The 3BR / 3 bathroom house is very large and very well layed out. We wish we had more people enjoying the house with us, as we were only four adults. Each couple enjoyed an entire floor to ourself - The decor in the house is very high quality furnishings, all done to the Hawaiian theme. Everywhere we looked we were impressed. The number of tropical fans and beautiful lighting also made the place very cozy and inviting - The house was very clean and tidy upon our arrival - The two lanai's provide lots of options for enjoying the outdoors. My wife especially loved the upstairs Lanai - The "quiet" ocean side pool was beautiful, and much of the time we enjoyed it to ourselves. I swam many laps in the early morning, enjoying the scenic views all the way around, including the many surfers nearby - We also enjoyed the beautiful sandy beach right in Puamana with my wife's parents (1st time in the ocean in many many years). The views were spectacular. All in all, we find ourselves having to checkout of this beautiful house in Puamana gated community. We would have no hesitation recommending this place to people looking for a beautifully and spacious furnished house to enjoy their time on Maui. Mahola.

We stayed at this home and found it was equipped to handle every need: beach chairs, towels, coolers, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, etc. It's in a great location, close to pools and beach and the town of Lahaina. It's a very clean, updated home. The neighbors were very nice also. The owners were fantastic to deal with.

Two families of 9 members rented this property for 7 nights in August-Sept 2008 and we enjoyed our stay - the house was spacious - 3 bedrooms and 3 washrooms with full bath. The joint family/den room located on the 2nd floor was a full room everynight with all young adults busy w/ their itineraries and networking on the computer. They loved the lanai on the ground floor for breakfast and they enjoyed watching the stars on the 2nd floor lanai. The swimming pool overlooking the ocean was very popular among the young adults - the whole complex was fully secured with a gated entrance. We will definitely return if this property is still listed for rental.

Our Puamana experience

as the main organizer of this family trip in July of 08, I was anxious about arranging accomodation to suit all 7 of us. We had to meet the needs of family joining us all the way from Europe with two teenagers and my 79 year old father who hadn't worn shorts in 40 years was going to experience his first tropical vacation. When I searched the net, I came across the name Puamana which I recalled from a stay 30 years ago. The complex has been well maintained and updated over the years. I should say that my correspondence with the owner of the property was so easy, and we truly felt that we were being welcomed to their home. Nonetheless, until we actually opened the front door and I heard all the "wow"s as all 7 of us explored the home, I remained nervous for my Dad and also those who had come a long way to experience their first visit to Hawaii. We were not disappointed. The home is beautiful, plenty of space, so that we could all be together, or as sometimes needed in a large group, we could have our own private space too. My Dad had his own bathroom with shower and the other two family units each had a big bathroom. The home was very nicely decorated, but not in a way that made anyone nervous to move around. We loved the freedom to cook in a large updated and well equipped kitchen, and used the barbecue for most meals. The downstairs lanai was the most used, however the upstairs lanai was popular with the early morning individuals and also at sundown which was really beautiful. None of us can say enough good things about the beach. It was so close to the unit, and we had a hard time getting kids and Dad out of the water. The wilder the waves, the better, and we were not disappointed. I personally like the calm spells too. Three great pools to choose from. The kids tried them all. We adults mostly enjoyed the beach pool. We did walk into Lahaina several time during our stay. We picked our time though, because there was a bit of traffic to watch out for. I asked my Dad how he would rate his experience, and he immediately replied "excellent - it was a heck of a great place". All in all, our Puamana experience was great, from the first correspondence to sadly closing the door behind us. Would definitely recommend it to other family and friends. Mahalo...Ann

This house was wonderful to stay in. It was clean and well taken care of, with plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 young children. Everything we needed from a screwdriver, a crockpot, to a pool noodle was easily located in the house. Beautiful large Lanai's were especially enjoyed. We would definately return!

My husband, myself, our two married daughters and thie husbands were very comfotable in this lovely well equipped home. The community of Puamana has lovely grounds and is conveniently located to Lahaina. We were amazed when we saw breaching whales from the waterfront pool.
