Location: Lacoste, Luberon Area, Provence, France, Europe (Marseille airport 50 mile, Avignon TGV 25 mile, Motorway 15)
Accommodations: Village House (with Studio), 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-5)
The property is situated in the beautiful hillside village of Lacoste, some 25 miles to the east of Avignon and close to the market town of Apt. The village has a post office, tabac, baker, two cafes, and a good restaurant and is home to the ruined castle of the Marquis de Sade. The castle is now owned by Pierre Cardin, the world-renowned couturier, and each summer it stages open air theatrical and musical events. The village is also home to numerous artists and writers as well as the Lacoste School of Arts.
The house has a terrace and small garden which enjoy spectacular views across the valley to Bonnieux, ideal for relaxing, painting, or writing. Of all the Luberon villages. Lacoste is arguably the most charming and tranquil, and in the words of Pierre Cardin, probably the most beautiful in the world.
Lacoste is located close to many of the 'most beautiful villages in Provence.' Gordes, Roussillon, Lourmarin, Bonnieux, and Menerbes and the antiques capital of Provence, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are all a short drive away. The Cote d'Azur, St. Remy, Arles, and the Camargue make ideal day trips. This area is a mecca for lovers of good food, fine wine, art, music, and the smells and colours of local markets. Coupled with virtually guaranteed summer sunshine, a peaceful enjoyable holiday is assured.
*ALSO NOTE* the property also has a two bed studio which can be rented separately or incorporated into the main house to form a unit sleeping up to seven persons.
