Bird Haven is located approximately 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg, accessible from The Parkway traffic light #1 or #3. It is secluded on a ¾ acre wooded lot, but you don't need special transportation to get there - any car will do, weather permitting (i.e. no snow or ice). When you get there you'll find plenty of paved parking for non-bus vehicles.
Step inside on the lower level to find the game room with big screen TV with cable and movie channels, and a pool table. There's also a Jacuzzi tub in the corner for relaxing. Down the hall you will find a private bedroom with a king-size bed, a twin-size sleep sofa, and a TV with cable. A full bathroom with a shower is also on this level, as well as the laundry room with full sized washer and dryer.
At the end of the hall is the first thing everyone (especially the kids) will want to see - the pool! Both the adults and children in your group will have fun in the pool no matter when your trip will be. The water is heated and ranges in depth from 3 feet to 5 feet. Bring your favorite pool toys or floats or use the "noodles" that are provided, but don't forget your beach towels. There are tables and chairs in the pool area for those who want to visit without getting wet. There is also a full bathroom with a tub and shower for changing or showering before or after a swim.
If you can pry your group away from the pool, head up the stairs to see the rest of the chalet . . .
On the second level you enter the vaulted ceiling great room with a stone wood-burning fireplace and TV with cable. The couch converts to a queen-size bed. Sliding glass doors lead to the deck where you'll find the hot tub, table and chairs, and a gas grill. It's the perfect spot to relax with your morning coffee. The dining area with a table and seating for six is adjacent to the fully-equipped kitchen and is part of the great room. Also on this level is a full bathroom with a tub and shower and two private bedrooms. Each bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, TV with cable, and has a balcony that overlooks the pool.
Continue up the stairs to find an open loft that looks down into the great room. The loft is furnished with its own TV with cable, a king-size bed, a queen-size bed, and a twin-size day bed with trundle. For convenience there is also a half bathroom with a sink and toilet on this level.
With close to 4000 square feet of space your family will not feel crowded. If you find yourself looking for something to do, browse through the book, DVD, and video collection or just sit on the deck or in the patio swing and watch for wildlife.
