NEW YEARS WEEK NOW AVAILABLE!! Welcome to Casa Ultima. Our Beachfront Villa consists of a recently completed 2-story Home with 2 fully-equipped kitchens, 2 Master bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a 1000 sq. ft. roof-top terrace/bar offering 360 degree views of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding countryside. From here you can check the surf up and down the coast, watch the various cranes and rosetea spoonbills fly between watering holes and stargaze in the evenings. The beach house was designed to provide ocean views from every room and the spacious decks offer excellent vantage points for surf photos and outdoor, seaside dining.

Also on the property and separated by a courtyard is a 300 sq. ft. casita, with a fully-equipped kitchen and bath, and the caretaker's cottage. The Main House sleeps 8-10 guests comfortably . Each level of the Main House may be rented separately, if desired . The Casita sleeps 2-4 and may be rented separately or with the Main House.

Our property is located within Las Baulas National Marine Park, which is a nesting site for the Leatherback Turtles. Playa Grande is world famous for its excellent surf, and there are 5 breaks just steps from the house. All of the surfing photos found on this site were taken in front of the house.
There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance or a short drive from Casa Ultima. There is also a small market nearby and a German Bakery truck that delivers fresh bread and pastries to your door twice weekly. Tamarindo is only a short drive or beach walk and water taxi away. There you will find many dining, shopping and banking choices along with spa services for your enjoyment.

Again, it was classy, clean and the perfect spot in Playa Grande for a surf trip. the host's are awesome people and make the stay fantastic. they were also very helpful, as always, in finding other people for other activities. A+ overall.....

  • This is my 6th time to this area and the 3rd time staying on Playa Grande. This is THE perfect place to stay whether you want to surf, turtle watch, beach comb, or just relax. My wife, 2 daughters, and son enjoyed everday of our stay. This property has every amenity you could ask for and every detail has been thought of and done 1st class!! What an added plus to video tape/ photograph surfing in front of the house from the 2nd floor porch or rooftop. When I was already exhausted from surfing for 3 hours, I could sit and drink my coffee on the back porch while watching my 16 year old son and his friend surf the incredible beach break 50 yds away!! Pura Vida at it's best......

  • We had our family Christmas and New Years holiday at Casa Ultima in Playa Grande. I done a lot of travelling and found this casa to be at the top of my list. Waking up every morning to the ocean outside your window was a priceless experience. I will recommend this sweet gem of a place to all my family and friends in the future.   • What a fabulous place. Beautiful house, magnificent beach and so much privacy. You couldn't ask for a better beach holiday. Alan and Bridgette were great hosts and so helpfull.
