We recently stayed at the Playa Grande Villa on the beach...it was the first stop on a 12 day vacation in Costa Rica!! How lucky we were to have discovered this magical place. Alan and Terry were both very gracious, generous with information to assist us and sincerely excited to ensure our stay was nothing less than extraordinary! And it was! I can't say enough about the location of this beautiful home...it IS the best location....we enjoyed our nights on the beach, our sunsets from the rooftop patio and our sun rises from the comfort of our comfortable, clean and beautifully appointed master suite! I highly recommend this beautiful home! When our travels bring us back to Costa Rica...I can only hope we are fortunate enough to stay here again...

Paradise!

Location... Location... and did I mention Location? What an amazing place. The beach was beautiful and so private. Every morning I opened the drapes and laid in bed staring at the ocean. Then I would open the sliding door and move to hammock to read a book while listening to the ocean. When I got the energy, I would walk the five feet through the gate to walk on an incredibly beautiful beach. The restaurants in Playa Grande are fabulous as are the people. It doesn't take long to get to know the locals. Finally, Alan and Terri are incredible human beings. They went out of their way to give us our privacy while making themselves available if needed. Their insight on everything from food and fun to surf made everything so easy for us. They also had a special treat for us on our final night. It was a once in a lifetime experience seeing the newly hatched turtles. The house was clean and we had everything we needed. What an incredible vacation - I feel better than I have in years. We would go back in a heartbeat. OMG - the LOCATION! ;-)

What a glorious place Casa Ultima is not only because it's located on one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever had the pleasure to spend time on, Allan and Terry are fantastic people. They helped us with surf boards, bikes, transportation from and to the airport, directions to various locations as well as helping us find additional housing for an other couple in our group. Allan and Terry even took the time to fetch us so that we could join them in viewing some Rosette Spoonbills--first sighting in two years. The property is well maintained, comfortable, and private. Viewing sunsets from the roof top terrace never disappointed. Making meals from available fresh produce and fish purchased from the back of a fisher's truck so much fun. An we made some good memories eating at Rip Jacks and the Hotel Tortuga. Our stay at Casa Ultima provided us with one amazing vacation. Highly recommend staying at Casa Ultima.

Excellent House and Location

My friends and I recently stayed at Casa Ultima and throughly enjoyed our stay. Alan and Terry were fantastic hosts with great recomendations on what to do, where to go, etc. The house was set up perfect for our group, and loved that both levels of the house were very private. Our trip was focused on surfing and relaxation and this house was perfect for that. We were able to check the surf from the balcony, and were plesantly surprised with the limited people surfing the break right in front of the house. This was my second time to Playa Grande, but first at this house. I'll be back and staying here again as it was a better location on the beach then the other rentals. It's the last house on the beach which keeps the crowds down. They also had bikes and surf boards to rent which was super convenient.

tranquil spring break

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We rented the upper and lower floors ( for family of five) and found it very relaxing. The property's relative secluded location and tranquility of the near-empty beach allowed for unencumbered exploration and relaxation. Thanks to Bridget for her local referrals and assistance with activities.

Best Vacation of Our Lives!!!!!

My wife and I stayed at Casa Ultima for our honeymoon and were treated to the absolutely best honeymoon and vacation of our lives. When we were first booking our trip we were looking for a very particular place with natural beauty, great surf, but also a luxurious place to stay with ocean views. It was extremely hard to find all three in all of Costa Rica. We read the surf guides and decided on Playa Grande. Then we read the reviews for Casa Ultima and booked our honeymoon. We were simply blown away by the beauty of the area, the quality of the surf, and most of all the luxury at Casa Ultima. If you are coming to Playa Grande with your wife, girlfriend, family, etc, there are no real hotel options. All of the hotels cater to the guys only surf trip. If you are planning on bringing your significant other, you have to rent a house. We rented the second floor at the Casa Ultima. Casa Ultima is the most private house on Playa Grande in the absolute best location, with the best views by far. It is directly on the beach and there are tremendous views from every single room in the entire house: bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living room, front deck and roof deck. The other houses are lower to the ground so the views are not as good. You can lift your head up in the morning from your bed to check the surf, it is really that impressive. The house is pratically brand new with the best updating possible, granite kitchen and bathroom, travertine floors, fresh crisp linens, etc. It is like staying at a five star hotel. The area of Playa Grande is truly a paradise. Right in front of Casa Ultima is a great surf break that is uncrowded. You can also walk 1 minute to the left and surf the main break, which is a heavy A frame wave that attracts a few more people but is always very spread out and very manageable. There seems to always be surf at Playa Grande, I was there in December, which not known for the best surf and it was chest to head high with offshore winds every day. Playa Grande is an uncrowded long white sand beach with crystal clear tourquoise water. We visited many beaches in Costa Rica and this beach was the most beautiful by far. From Casa Ultima, you can also walk to the right and enjoy an even more isolated beach. It is a long white sand beach that is totally secluded. In fact, every time we walked down that beach from the house, we were the only ones on the entire beach. What an incredible vacation, we will be back many times!!!

We wanted to extend a very gracious thank you for everything during our stay at Casa Ultima. I am still amazed that we stumbled upon Casa Ultima while looking for a place to stay in Playa Grande. You were an excellent host and the price was incredible. As we headed down the coast we did not find any lodgings comparable to Casa Ultima in price, luxury, location, etc...We also did not find an area that we liked as much as Playa Grande. The surfing, location, and overall experience was the best we had in two weeks in Costa Rica!

Fabulous home on one of the best beaches in Costa Rica. Looked at other rentals on Playa Grande and now, after our stay, I can tell you I made the right decision on this property. Bridgett was great and we had a wonderful stay. I will definitly be back....................Highly reccomended...............

awesome rental!! this was my second time at the house. Again, it was classy, clean and the perfect spot in Playa Grande for a surf trip. the host's are awesome people and make the stay fantastic. they were also very helpful, as always, in finding other people for other activities. A+ overall.....

This is my 6th time to this area and the 3rd time staying on Playa Grande. This is THE perfect place to stay whether you want to surf, turtle watch, beach comb, or just relax. My wife, 2 daughters, and son enjoyed everday of our stay. This property has every amenity you could ask for and every detail has been thought of and done 1st class!! What an added plus to video tape/ photograph surfing in front of the house from the 2nd floor porch or rooftop. When I was already exhausted from surfing for 3 hours, I could sit and drink my coffee on the back porch while watching my 16 year old son and his friend surf the incredible beach break 50 yds away!! Pura Vida at it's best......

We had our family Christmas and New Years holiday at Casa Ultima in Playa Grande. I done a lot of travelling and found this casa to be at the top of my list. Waking up every morning to the ocean outside your window was a priceless experience. I will recommend this sweet gem of a place to all my family and friends in the future. Thank you Bridgette for making our stay very enjoyable!

BEAUTIFUL HOME!!! BEAUTIFUL BEACH!! We stayed in the upper unit for our honeymoon surf trip and it was just beautiful. Casa Ultima on Playa Grande Beach is a perfect 10.
