Summer view from deck. - South Thomaston, Maine Cottage "The Cottage" is a quaint and quiet retreat facing a secluded cove on the Weskeag River. Lobster boats, sail boats and an oyster farm are within view, as is the private pier. Kayakers pass as they explore the river and further out into the Muscle Ridge Channel which is dotted with islands and beaches - truly, an adventurers' heaven. Explore this unique shoreline or sit on the deck and enjoy the shorebirds as they move in at low tide. "The Cottage" consists of one main room (kitchen, living, and dining), a quiet bedroom with a double-size bed and a bath with tub/shower. The main room has a vaulted ceiling, a woodstove, and glass doors onto a large deck overlooking the river. The entrance from the parking area is granite steps and rhododendrons with a flower and herb garden in summer months. This is a very special place we have shared with many friends. Our house is nearby but you are very private. The Farnsworth Art Museum, the Owl's Head Transportation Museum, the Maine Center for Contemporary Art, numerous local fine galleries, bookstores, schooner experiences and the finest restaurants Maine has to offer are simply 5 to 25 minutes away.
