Wow! What a truly enchanting place, it's so hard to describe what a great time we had. On our next to the last day, we swam with no fewer than 10 sea turtles in the Champagne Pond next door. The fish and your pond were of course awesome. Loved the breezes, the sun, the rain, and most of all we loved how close our family became, us 3 island adventurers! Hope to visit next year! Mahalo-- P.S. I was hoping we could watch the Wizard of Oz so that Evan could see Ann's Uncle ray Bolger. Unfortunately, he was too tired from swimming with the fish and turtles to watch a movie.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family spent a fantastic week relaxing and snorkeling at Lagoon House. The fish were just amazing. And we were delighted to discover that just past the house's own lagoon is the famed Champagne Pond, for even more snorkeling exploration. Audrey was very friendly and helpful too!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 3rd stay at this house. We love the location, but mostly snorkeling with the fishies in the lagoon. We miss Puffy. The new puffers are still too shy. The house is well equipped, makes you feel like home. It's nice to spend quiet quality time away from touristy resorts on the Kona side, and is much more convenient to Volcanoes Park. We'll be there again.Did you find this review helpful? Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: 4th time staying at this property, always fantastic weather and so rejuvenating. Property is getting a bit worn, the kitchen cabintes, supplies and appliances could use an update. The lagoon may need some preventive maintenance as the dry stack walls are beginning to collapse in a few places under the waterline. This is still the most awesome place in the state, though.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A nice home in a nice community. Great ocean views. Convenient to restaurants and shopping in Pahoa, a bit far from Hilo. Even the weather was great - the rain was mostly at night.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful stay at the Lagoon House. We have 3 kids: 9, 6 and 2. They would have spent all day in the lagoon if we'd let them. So many fish, eels, tiny shrimp that clean your fingers if you let them! And the water was so nice and warm you could stay in forever. The house is as it appears in the photos- a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The kids appreciated the many toys and blocks to play with. There is an excellent collection of DVDs and CDs for downtime. I appreciated the fact that some supplies are provided in the kitchen and oils/spices/etc in the cabinet. In many rentals you have to start from scratch. The main negative for us was the third bedroom (the bunk bed room). This room is completely separate from the rest of the house- down outside stairs and next to the lagoon. It is sort of a concrete block with 2 sets of sliding glass doors. If you could have the doors open at night, it might have been pleasant enough, but we did not feel comfortable with our children down there with unlocked doors, so we needed to lock them in. The kids couldn't tolerate that (no air circulation at all and very stuffy), which meant that we stuffed all 3 kids into the small bedroom upstairs. In our opinion, that room is suitable only for teenagers or young adults and it would have been nice to know that prior to arrival. That said, we would recommend the Lagoon House- it's main plus is the lagoon, but that is a big plus indeed!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The #1 reason to stay here is because of its very own almost-freshwater "aquarium". As mentioned in previous reviews, the home isn't the most updated, nor is the snorkeling gear provided the best, but rarely do you get an opportunity to snorkel with hundreds of fish, including 3 eels (two white, one deep blue). Too bad Puffy had passed away, but we saw at least four other puffers in the water, albeit smaller and not yet as friendly. The puffers were most active in the afternoon. We went into Champagne Pond just over the wall; within minutes, I returned back to our "Lagoon". I swam in Champagne Pond a couple of years ago and thought it was awesome, but I now am spoiled by the lagoon! We brought our own snorkel gear since previous reviews mentioned the lack of good equipment, understandable as the gear cannot be locked up. Bring water shoes; there were a few pairs available but may not fit. No adult life jackets, so bring your own if needed. There were a few toddler-sized ones. Pool noodles were available for use if you need additional floatation. The home itself was clean and comfortable with satellite TV and wireless internet. However, the silverware should be updated. It doesn't cost that much to buy a couple of four-person place settings. My college-era silverware was of better quality! Fish food was available for feeding. We also fed them table scraps from the "approved list" placed onto the refrigerator door. Lettuce leaves were fun to hold for the fish to nibble on, though the fish may get excited and your fingers may receive a strong nibble or two, which can hurt but doesn't break the skin. The location is a bit remote; the nearest grocery store is in Pahoa. One plus is that it is near the Kalapana lava viewing area. We didn't get a chance to go there, but it is something to consider. I don't think I can visit the Big Island again without staying at Lagoon House. If it ever went on sale, I would serDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
