Excellent Roma Experience

Guest: Ann (New Mexico, USA)
Date of Stay: 01/03/12 Review Submitted: 01/30/12

We were planning our first trip to Italy and to Rome, and my son said he was most interested in being near the Coliseum, which led to me find Marmi and Casalilli. It could not have worked out better! We only had two days, and Marmi was a huge help before we ever got there. She set up our transfer from the train station, a driver to tour us around to many of the famous sights on our first day, obtained tickets and an excellent guide for the Vatican our second day, and our transfer to the airport when we left. About the apartment, Casalilli. It is exactly as described but it was a lot more spacious than I imagined. All the rooms were very generously sized. The apartment is very pretty, nicely and comfortably furnished, and really shows how much thought Marmi has given to making it comfortable for her renters. We were two couple traveling together, and it was perfect, particularly having the second bathroom. The apartment is very well situated, on a quiet street and easy walking distance to the Coliseum. Our driver was waiting when we got off the train, and Marmi was waiting at the apartment when we got there to show us around the apartment. A special touch is that she bought us a very delicious Panettone that came in very handy for snack and breakfast. The kitchen was very well outfitted, though we didn’t do more than have coffee and tea because we wanted to try the local restaurants. Our touring days were incredible. Luga was our driver the first day, and he obviously knows his way around very well and took us to many interesting sites that we were able to tour without having the worry about being with a large group or having to navigate Rome. That was very well worth the cost, which was not prohibitive anyway. We told him we hoped to get into the Coliseum that afternoon so he left us at one of the lesser used entrances which allowed us to bypass the long main line at the Coliseum. Our second day Marmi arranged for a driver to take us to the Vatican where we were met by our tour guide. She had the tickets and we were able to enter without waiting in any line, and 30 minutes before the general public. She was extremely knowledgeable about the Vatican, the Sistene Chapel, St. Peter’s Cathedral, and St. Peter’s Square, and we all learned so much and came away with a great appreciation of the history. In summary, while Casalilli was a perfect place to stay, it was all made better because of Marmi’s great sense of how best to spend our time.

Owner response:Thank you Ann. I am glad that your 2 day stay in Rome was intense and memorable. A well planned stay even just for 2 days could be more gratifying than a long stay and doing things on your own. Rome has so much to offer and it is in my interest that our guests have the best the beautiful city has to offer. I hope to welcome you back again.

Can't wait to come back to Rome and CasaLilli

Guest: Jimbo (Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines)
Date of Stay: 10/30/11 Review Submitted: 12/30/11

First of all, Marmi and her daughter, Francesca, have to be two of the most charming and enchanting women in Rome. They welcomed me warmly into their clean, spacious, and tasteful apartment. I was immediately at home. They also took me on a short walking tour of the immediate neighborhood, pointing out interesting sites, restaurants, cafes, banks, etc. I later took walks on my own and was pleased to discover that CasaLilli is located right in the heart of Rome, spitting distance from iconic landmarks like the Colosseo, and the Foro Romano, among others, but tucked away in a quiet little enclave. It was a joy to come home to the apartment after a day exploring the city. I especially liked relaxing and taking my meals al fresco in the balcony, enjoying the balmy air and listening to the sounds of the neighborhood. This is the life! My stay couldn't have been more perfect. Can't wait to come back. Thank you so much, Marmi!

Owner response:Dear Xavier, First of all, I would like to greet you and yours a Happy New Year! Secondly, thank you for taking time to write this much appreciated comment. I hope to welcome you back soon to Rome and to CasaLilli. Best regards, Marmi

The CassaLilli Has Wilted

Guest: ERIK (Philadelphia--USA)
Date of Stay: 10/26/11 Review Submitted: 11/11/11

First off, Marmi is charming, professional and was perfectly easy to deal with. That being said--the listed description was not quite up to our expectations. Examples: The unit is on the 2nd floor of a 5 story building WITH NO ELEVATOR. The Air Conditioning, as listed, IS ONLY IN THE BEDROOMS. If you go in the dead of summer--expect one window in the living and one door in the kitchen for ventilation. The door has 4 padlocks on it for a "safe and secure neighborhood". Marmi was sure to point out the electrical box "in case the circuit breaker trips". The first morning upon turning on the blow dryer, sure enough--the power tripped and no lights. This happened several more times with the microwave and the washer. Each time, the washer must've reset and ended up running 2 hours until we forced it into two rinses and one spin--then--had to unplug it in order to reset and get the door to open. The larger bathroom sink was slow to drain; the smaller shower was a pain in the a** in that the cheap shower curtain wouldn't stay secured so that it was unavoidable to flood the bathroom floor. Additionally, the water would go from steaming hot to freezing cold--rarely being regulated. We had the pleasure of the above apartment's laundry hanging down within a few feet of our space for over a day as well as someone walking in what sounded like wooden shoes. The sofa was hard as a rock, not comfortable. The beds--however, EXREMELY comfortable!! Lastly, our arranged-for driver was a NON-SPEAKING English -- Italian, nice man. But, we found it odd and a bit uncomfortable.

Owner response:Dear Todd This has surpised me a lot. First of all, it is mentioned in our listing that there is no elevator in the building and that the bedrooms are airconditioned. You were here in mid-autumn so you do not know what the apartmentt would be in the summer. I always tell my guests who come during the summer period that they can leave both airconditions on during the whole day to cool the whole apartment by leaving both bedroom doors open. The apartment is absolutely cool in the summer!!! About the 4 padlocks. You used only one key for the door and the bolt of this lock is about 5 inches long that goes into the wall. The other padlocks are not for use but are I had not wanted to remove them because they are antiques and they give a certain touch. The neighborhood is absolutely quiet and safe. It is one of the best areas in Rome. As for the electricity, I had explained to you that the building is more than 100 yrs old and has low voltage. I had requested you not to use the appliances at the same time to avoid short circuit. Besides, it was really simple to put the electricity back on. I never had any problem with past guests about this matter. I'm sorry about the "cheap shower curtain". But you can be sure that they are clean. They are always changed for every new guests. As for the nice driver for the airport, he was given direction to do his job to take you to the airport. If you had requested for a city tour then you are provided with a knowledgeable english speaking driver. In Italy it's not necessary that the driver spoke english when doing a transfer. However, Thank you.

Just wanted to say that we really enjoyed our visit to rome. The apartment was in an exceptional location, well within easy reach of everything and the neighbourhood itself was really safe and very friendly. We found all we wanted right on our doorstep, including lovely restaurants and quirky little shops. We loved it. The terrace was a blessing, as we had unusually warm weather and made terrific use of the terrace for breakfast every day and lovely glass of wine to end the day. The apartment itself was very warm and welcoming and the accomodation spotlessly clean and comfortable. We would definately rent this apartment again and would highly recommend it. Should we return to Rome,(and we duly threw our three coins in the Trevi Fountain, to ensure it) we look forward to staying here again. Many thanks for your warm hospitality and welcome bowl of fruit. It was greatly appreciated. Our time in Rome flew by and we hope to return very soon. With best wishes, Deirdre, Gretta, Mary and Yvonne

Nice apartment located in the historic centre of Rome, within a walking distance from the things you want to see. There are grocery stores around and restaurants. From the balcony you have a sense of the life in the neighbourhood which was nice. We have enjoyed our stay there.

Pleasant Stay

Date of Stay: 09/09/11 Review Submitted: 10/06/11

The apartment was lovely and comfortable. Marmi was very nice and showed us how to use everything. Our plane arrived early in the morning and she was kind enough to let us leave our baggage at the apt while it was being cleaned. Loved having WiFi. The best things were the balcony and the bathtub. We were all so very sore after the uphill walking so the nightly soak in the bath was wonderful. We had breakfast outside on the balcony each morning. Nearby grocery store to pick up a few things. We would stay here again. Friendly neighborhood.

Owner response:Hi Sam, Thanks for this review. I look forward to having you stay with us again. I'll let you find bigger canolies next time!!! My warm regards to Dawn and all.

Great Location, Great Experience

Guest: Robert (Walnut Creek)
Date of Stay: 08/03/11 Review Submitted: 08/26/11

First, let me thank Marmi and Teresa for a wonderful stay in Rome. Our family of 5 stayed enjoyed Casalili on our first visit to Italy. Marmi arranged for our pickup from the airport and gave us a great overview of what to see in Rome. She also introduced us to our eventual tour guide for a day of Ancient Rome! Thank you Teresa for a wonderful time! We loved the location, the ability to walk to the bus stop (85 or 850) to get anywhere on Via del Corso, gelato at the corner (welcome after a long day of walking), and a great restaurant suggestion (naumachia; try the Shrimp risotto). Marmi will really take care of you and make your stay enjoyable. We loved that we could spread out in one location and our three kids (13, 11, and 7) loved the setup. Our son loved the sofa bed! You cannot beat the location (a few blocks from the Colosseo) and in a very safe area. From a convenience perspective, there is a carrefour store around the corner, the Gastronomia Twins bar (due cappuccino in the morning), and taxi stand close by (Follow Via Capo D'Africa towards the Colosseo). Marmi also arranged for our pickup (transfer) to the train station so we could avoid the hassle of trying to find a taxi to carry 5 with luggage and ensure we arrived at the train station early enough so we could find our way. We really felt at home and staying at a friends place. Marmi - we miss you and your wonderful apartment. Already wishing we were back in Rome!!

Owner response:Hi Robert, Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I hope to have the pleasure to welcome you all back to Rome and to CasaLilli again.

Location and Privacy

Guest: SuziB (Newcastle, WA)
Date of Stay: 03/31/11 Review Submitted: 04/16/11

Location This apartment was a great base for our stay in Rome in April 2011. It is about 3 blocks from the Coliseum and close to many other sites, including the Forum, the Il Vitoriano--by way of the Via del Fori Imperiali, and the Basilica San Clemente. Within a three block radius, there are a taxi stand, two groceries, a produce store, a gelateria, a number of restaurants, and a pharmacy. The gelateria is just a few steps from the apartment, and perfect for a family reward after a long day of sightseeing! Accommodations The apartment has two bedrooms, and it is also set up to accommodate two people to sleep on the living room couches. Up to six people could sleep comfortably here. The apartment has two bathrooms - two toilets and sinks, one shower and one bathtub. We loved the privacy this apartment allowed all of us, something that would cost dearly at a hotel. The kitchen has the basics, and was just right for breakfast before we started our travels around the city every day. The little patio is a perfect place for a mid-afternoon rest in the sunshine, and includes a little washing machine and a drying rack. The view of other apartment patios reminds you that this is a working neighborhood and not just a tourist stop. While the apartment is very simple and clean, it does have tall ceilings and huge bedroom windows. Lots of natural light and fresh air! Free wifi access was easy to use and always available. Hospitality Marmi was gracious and helpful upon our arrival. Her English is perfect and her willingness to help with tours, restaurants, and general directions was great. Tips and Pointers • The apartment is on the second floor and there is no elevator, so be prepared to lug your baggage up the stairs. • Parking is at a premium in this and every other Roman neighborhood. In fact, Rome taxes mid-size and larger cars so think twice before renting a car while in Rome. • There were no napkins or dish soap, so you may need to purchase some basic items if you feel you need them during your stay. There are plenty of dishes, glasses, cookware, utensils, and basic kitchen appliances so that’s good. • When we arrived the apartment reeked of air freshener. We found no less than 6 hidden in all the rooms. Due to allergies, we had to hunt them out and remove them to the outdoor patio. On one occasion we thought we smelled sewage, so that may be the reason for the air freshener overload. I can say though that we only experienced that for a few minutes one ti

Owner response:Dear Suzy, Thank you so much for your time to make this review. I apologize for the lack of napkins and dish soap. My cleaning lady must have overlooked on those. Now I know I must always do a complete inspection before each arrival of our guests. As for the sewage smell it was just the day before you arrived that the sewage treatment was done to building and that is why the airfresheners were put. But as you said...the smell went away soon after. I appreciate your suggestions. These will help contribute on making our services more efficient. Hoping to have the pleasure to welcome you back to CasaLilli. Thank you and my best regards to the family. Yours truly, Marmi

We just stayed at Casa Lilli last week and it was marvelous! Don't have any worries about renting this apartment. Marmy was very nice (though we were so tired, we didn't have a chance to talk much) and the apartment is perfect. It was so wonderful to have coffee every morning out on the balcony. The location is great too. So many restaurants within a few blocks, 2 grocery stores, the metro, and the best gelatto store right on the corner. There were 4 of us and we had plenty of space for everybody. The satellite TV is nice too. Such a nice place to come back to and relax after a long day of sightseeing. And we really appreciated the taxi service Marmy arranged for us to take to the airport. The easiest transfer of our trip. We definitely recommend this apt. Thanks again!

Owner response:I am glad and thankful that our guests take time to bring their comments here. Now that the Holidays are fast approaching I would highly recommend that visitors to Rome make bookings for their sojourn now. I am offering early booking rates for the coming months. So please hurry and send your inquiries now!

Everything you could want

Guest: First time in Tuscany (Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA)
Date of Stay: 10/03/10 Review Submitted: 10/21/10

My brother and I stayed in this apartment for 3 days in October 2010. It's everything the listing promises, and more. Spacious, clean, attractive, comfortable, well cared for. And very well located, especially for seeing the sights of ancient Rome. It's a quick and easy walk to the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine Hill, even for folks in their 60s. And the bus stop is only 2 blocks away--take the #85 bus to the Pantheon and Trevi. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint with many useful shops and good restaurants. Very nice to come home to at the end of a day on the go! But, like others here have said, the most useful amenity the apartment offers is Marmi herself. She arranged for a car and driver to pick us up at the airport, which was much appreciated, since this was our first time in Italy. And she was eager to help us with anything we needed: tours, advice, etc. In other words, her customer service instincts are excellent. And she speaks English. In short, I would heartily recommend Casa Lilli to anyone looking for a good place to stay while in Rome. Thank you, Marmi, for making our first few days in Italy comfortable and memorable.

Owner response:I am so glad when my guests tell me of their wonderful experiences in CasaLilli and its neighborhood. Emily and Normann were very gracious guests. As they say, just 2 blocks away, there are bus stops and a taxi stand but one can easily walk to the main sites from the apartment.

This is the first time I have used VRBO but based on this experience I will ALWAYS use this site when planning a vacation. Casalilli is all it promises to be and more. The apartment is beautiful, spacious and pristine. The amenities are all that you could possibly need; the neighborhood is wonderful with convenient restaurants on every street, and an Internet shop right around the corner. Marmi and her family have my highest recommendation. She arranged two great tours for us (The Vatican and a wine tour) and was warm and friendly through all of our interactions. Thank you, Marmi, for all you did to make our vacation memorable and stress-free! 09/09/10-09/18/10

Hi Marmi & Alessandro - Thank you again for making our stay so enjoyable. We stayed in early June 2009. We were particularly grateful for the car that met us at the train station and took us to the airport when we headed to Greece. The tour you gave us of the neighborhood made us feel at home. We took advantage of the balcony and had all four of our breakfasts outside. The location was amazing -- we walked to so many of the sights and took the metro for the rest. P.S. My son bought a Mandolin and loves it. Some day you'll have to hear some of the tunes he's written for it! Thanks, again

Owner response:Thanks Robin. I am glad that your son found the mandolin he wanted. I look forward to listening to his compositions. Let us know. Perhaps, he goes to Youtube or myspace. Let us know. Wish you enjoy the rest of the summer. Hope to have you back with us.

Dear Marmie, Francesca and Alessandro, Thank you for being the most gracious of hosts and for sharing your wonderful property with us. It was absolutely perfect! The apartment was clean, comfortable and in the greatest of locations for exploring Rome. At the end of each day it was like coming "home" to the apartment. You made the last week of our Italy vacation very difficult to end. I could spend a lifetime there I think. All of your recommendations from the restaurants to the tours and arranging the drivers and transportaion from the airport and back was so much appreciated. I hope to someday soon return (I'm hoping the coin in the Trevi works) and I would absolutely rent from you again. I wish Francesca and Alessandro luck in their endeavors. Possibly they will be my guide next time. Maybe we will be buying Alessandros photographs someday. Warmest of regards, Lori Marino

Owner response:Hi Lori, Thank you for taking time for this most appreciated comment. No doubt about your coming back to Rome and to Casa Lilli. The coins thrown in the Trevi Fountain work wonders and we will be seeing you and your family again. Wish you enjoy the rest of the summer in your home. Warm regards, Marmi

Thank you Marmi and Francesca for making us feel welcome in Rome. We stayed at Casa Lilli for one week in mid-March 09 and found it very conveniently located. The apartment worked very well for us (1 adult, two teens) and we enjoyed the local neighbourhood both for its services (eg restaurants, gelateria, grocery stores, internet point, Metro) and for its sights (eg San Clemente church, Colusseum, Forum etc etc). We also appreciated your assistance in arranging the transportation from the airport, and the Vatican tour, plus all the little extra tips on what to see and how to get there. We hope to return before too long, and wish you all the best! Birgitta & kids, Canada

Hi Marmi, Thank you for your Christmas greetings and wishes. May you and your family have a prosperous, happy new year as well. I never wrote to tell you how much we all enjoyed our stay in Rome at Casa Lilli; aside from the attractiveness of the apartment, we were especially pleased with: the proximity to the necessities such as banks, big and small markets, the metro, busses and gelaterias!..There were also internet 'cafes' and a number of reasonable restaurants, flower vendors and bakeries (my son loved the birthday cake I got at the bakery over on the street to San Giovanni d. Laterano.). Best of all was the fact that we were so near to the Forum, Palatine, Colosseum and Domus Aurea, but your little neighborhood was just far enough away so that we did not feel like we were over-crowded. My children enjoyed the stay at your place in Rome more than our stay at the agriturismo in Umbria! I think that what they liked best was wandering the city and sights during the day, returning to the apartment for a home cooked dinner with fresh italian foods, and then going out again for gelato. Thanks so much for your hospitalitiy! Regards, Linda Carraway

We really enjoyed our stay at this convenient apartment. The neighborhood was great, and everything we needed within very short walking distance...coffee, food, internet access, bank, and even a hardware store. It was a lot of fun getting to see the colosseum at different times of day with it being so close. I would highly recommend staying here...whenever I needed something it seemed to be there...bottle opener, coffee maker, tea kettle, towels, etc...it was nice not to have to worry about those little things and relax when I was at the apartment. Marmi was very welcoming and helpful with all the details.

We stayed in this condo during the Thanksgiving holiday for 10 days and I have to say that it was a superb experience The condo is exactly as pictured and represented. It is on the first floor so an easy climb for most. It was very comfortable, spacious and very well stocked and furnished. The satellite TV was especially appreciated. The surrounding neighborhood is great; many stores, restaurants, and trattorias. The metro is within very easy walking distance, right acrss from the Coloseum, a few short blocks away. There are also many very excellent local sites such as San Clemente, San Giovanni in Laterano, San Pietro in Vincoli as well as the Colosseum and Forum and Palatine. Marmi was a superb hostess, friendly and helpful and efficient. Transfers to and from the airport were arranged and everything we needed or wanted was available. I definitely recommend this property for anyone wanting to stay in the historic city of Rome.

Owner response:Thank you for taking time for this comment. It's a beautiful one to close the year. I will be waiting for you this coming new year. Wishing you and yours the best for the Holidays. Best regards, marmi

This is our second time in Marmi's darling apartment. Last year, it was my daughter and I. We were so impressed with Marmi, the apartment and the location that we brought my sister and came back again this fall. Marmi is on site to greet you and to explain the workings of everything you need to know about in the apartment. The patio is wonderful. Transportation, restaurants, and many sights are close by. You will not be disappointed, I would recommend this property to anyone. Thanks for everything, Marmi. Hope to visit again soon. Pat Wilson, Kathy Carr, and Michol Williamson

Owner response:Thanks so much Pat for this comment. I was wondering why your first one disappeared...didn't know this one was coming up. I hope to welcome you back soon and meet all your friends and family.

I am joining all the other laudatory comments. I had organised a week's cultural holiday for my 3 adolescents and myself and was very anxious about it. This appartment and the welcome we received made all the difference. This is a really good address because of its location, its comfort, its family atmosphere, its balcony and I fully agreed that "the best thing about it is Marmi - a truly invaluable addition. Marmi will assist you, advise you, take care of your concerns". I have already recommended this address to friends and family and even to people I met on the plane coming back to France. Thank you again and I hope our ways will cross again. Claire Millman-Trebitsch Paris

Our first trip to Rome and so glad we chose this apartment. The location was great, the apartment was very nice and clean. The air-conditioning worked great (it was so hot in June), it's close to some great restaurants and grocery stores...walk out the door and you see the colosseum - awesome. Marmi is such a gracious hostess - flowers and a bottle of wine to welcome us. I would highly recommend this apartment.

Owner response:Thanks Coma! Hope to have you back soon.

As most of the other guests have stated, this was a very nice apartment but the best thing about it is Marmi - a truly invaluable addition to renting this cozy, clean and bright apartment in a wonderful location. Marmi will assist you, advise you, take care of your concerns, and keep you out of harm's way. Marmi, thank you for everything - from helping me drop off my rental car, to arranging for our transportation to the airport, to telling us about the great outdoor jazz festival, to the great day of touring we had with you outside of Rome! For those (especially American families) trying to decide between the traditional hotel and renting an apartment like this one, I can tell you that having the kitchen, being able to buy food around the corner and to be able to make a wonderful home cooked breakfast was a huge advantage in favor of the apartment.

Owner response:Hi Bruce, Thank you for the great things you said. I am so happy to be part of your family's memorable stay in Rome. Hope to have you back soon. Marmi

My Wife, My son, and I had the most wonderful time "living" in Rome, in this beautiful apartment. It was very spacious, had everyting wee needed, and we especially loved the patio - a rarity in Rome apartments. Our Host-Owner was just wonderful. She was available at anytime to assist us. The neighborhood is the absolute best place to have an apartment in Rome. It is filled with many great restaurants, has a vibrant nightlife, yet it is perfectly quiet in the apartment. the Gelateria at the corner was the best I experienced in Rome. Right across the street from the Gelateria is a great piano bar, a great place to end your evenings on the town. I intend to return next year.

Owner response:Hi Roger, Thank you so much for this nice comment. I wish all my guests would be like you treating the apartment as your true home. Hope to have you and your family back soon with us. Thanks, Marmi

Three of us stayed in Marmi's apartment for a week in early June. It was a great place to be...the location was ideal. There are so many great restaurants in the neighborhood we did not have to leave the area at night for dinner. The apartment was clean, well furnished and very comfortable. The air conditioning was a big plus and so was having a washing machine. We would recommend this rental to others without any reservations.

Owner response:Thank you Joanne for taking time for this beautiful comment. I look forward to your next visit.

We have recently returned from our fabulous 1 month visit to rome, and it was made perfect by our stay at Casalilli. athe two bedroom, 2 bath apartment, right next to the Colosseum was absolutely perfect. the patio was my favorite place at the apartment, where I spent many hours enjoying the country-like ambience right in the middle of Rome. Our host-owners went above and beyond to make sure we had everything wee needed. From fresh flowers, to plenty of extra linens and supplies, the apartment provided us with a real home in Rome. I cannot recommend it more strongly, and we plan to return next year.

Owner response:Thank you whoever sent this very nice comment. Marmi

Marmi, Alessandro, and Gianpaolo truly went above and beyond to make our stay in Rome more comfortable. We had an amazing time and their place is beautiful. The location is absolutely perfect, and you can walk everywhere. The apartment had more than enough room for my husband, myself, and our two grown daughters. We absolutely love their family and cannot wait to go back to visit! Marmi and family, come to San Diego anytime, you are always welcome! :) ~Liz, Kris, Jessica, and Kristina Schulte

We are so happy to have stayed at the Casa Lilli during our first visit to Rome in early October. Marmi poking her head out her first floor window welcoming us was like being welcomed home after a long trip. She was the true hostess, giving us a brief walking tour around the neighborhood. She arranged our airport transfer as well as our Highlights of Rome and the Vatican tours - we had excellent guides too! Casa Lilli is like a home away from home, very comfortable and roomy for the 3 of us. It is also well located just as the previous comments have stated. We enjoyed the local sounds - classical music by one of the neighbors, people talking across the street and on their balconies, we felt like we were part of it all. The local sidewalk trattorias were great, frequented by locals too! The supermercado, pizza by the weight, and gelateria were a godsend. We attended Sunday mass in San Clemente and we felt like we were in a different era. Having the internet point just around the corner was a plus although I strongly suggest having internet access within the home. We picked up someone else's wireless access, kept calling her name out hoping that we'd use it but to no luck. (Suggestion to Rome tourists - get your Colosseum tickets online and skip the loooong queues, do the Vatican tour to skip the looooong queue) We have already suggested Casa Lilli to our friends. Thank you for a lovely Rome vacation Marmi, and Mabuhay!!!

Owner response:Thank you so much Lis and Kevin. Thank you for adding up the local scene. I got excited myself. By the way, I am just waiting for the installation of WIFI. Next time it might be others picking up our signal. Hope to have you back soon. Mabuhay !!!

Dear Marmi: Oh, we miss Casa Lilli so much! Our stay in mid-October was just wonderful and your delightful apartment was a big part of our good memories. This was our first trip to Italy and Roma was our final destination. To anyone considering staying here, be assured that you will feel very much at home in this cozy apartment. It was such an improvement over the apartment that we rented in Venice, which was institutional and dark, with three spoons and nothing to cook with. Marmi has gone out of her way to make you feel at home, with a lovely kitchen, great appliances, pretty dishes, FLUFFY TOWELS!!, and plenty of room for four or more. The beds were very comfortable and we just loved the terrace. And the location was perfect! Thank you Marmi, I hope you found something to do with the groceries we left in the refrigerator!! We enjoyed the kitchen so much. Oh, I miss your supermercado with the wonderful artichoke hearts!! We hope to come back to Roma some day and will definitely try to stay at Casa Lilli again. Warmest Regards, Jayne and Nick Barela, Colorado USA Ryan Barela and Devin Lamadora, World Travelers

Owner response:Thanks so much Jayne and for the goodies. I had a good snack before getting the apartment ready for the next guests...too bad, I didn't get to taste the artichokes!!! Hope to see you soon and my warm regards to Nick, Ryan and Devin.

We were delighted to find this comfortably equipped apartment waiting for us for the last few days we were in Italy. It is ideally located close to the Colosseum, food markets, restaurants, banks and subway. The two bedrooms provided enough beds for the four of us, plus there is a convertible bed my youngest grandson used. We appreciated having the two bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and the terrace was great. The two boys played chess by candlelight each night, and the air conditioning worked well in the bedrooms. The apartment is quiet, clean and provided everything we needed for our three days in Rome. We loved the City and tried to see as many of the sites as possible. If we ever return, we will try to rent this apartment again. Marni and her son were very friendly, courteous, and helpful. Her son was right when he told us the gelatto at the corner shop was the greatest. We ate at a sidewalk restaurant only a stone's throw from the Colosseum, and could not believe how fortunate we were to be able to do so.

Owner response:Thank you so much Debra for this kind comment. I look forward to your next visit.

A friend and I stayed in this lovely apartment in April 2007, and we enjoyed it immensely. It is located in a "working" neighborhood with few tourists, but it offered many restaurants within easy walking distance. We could also walk to the metro (about ten minutes), to the city bus (five minutes), to the taxi stand (five minutes), and to a small grocery store (four minutes). We did not go out much at night, but the neighborhood seemed completely safe. Almost in view of the Coliseum, the apartment itself is located in an older building but is comfortable and spacious. We ate breakfast on the elegant terrace every morning and appreciated the apartment's many amenities, such as an iron and ironing board, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, and pleasing decorations in all rooms. Marmi and her daughter Francesca, who are the owners, made sure everything in the apartment was spotless and up to the standard of a good hotel. In perfect English, they answered all of our questions and made us feel very welcome. If you looking for a convenient location just a few blocks from the Coliseum, and do not want to pay expensive hotel prices, this is the apartment to choose. I would stay there again. - Michael Squires, USA

I have been to Rome several times and stayed at some of the best hotels. I met Marmi at a 4 star resort hotel where she was the conceirge. Later I returned and stayed at this apartment. I was impressed with the accomidations and location. Easy access to everywhere and steps to the Colosseum. Marmi handled everything from pick up at the airport to reservations at all the cool restaurants. She is truly one of a kind and it is so much better to do ROME as a local ... and that is the feeling that this place gives you... so much better than a hotel. You will love this place and the neighborhood that surrounds it... (and for the men... you will like that it has two bathrooms. This is ideal when getting ready for the night's adventure, you actually get places ALMOST on time!

Thank you Marmi and Alessandro for your hospitality! Rome is an amazing city and your apartment made my visit even more enjoyable. Your apartment is wonderful! It offers so many amenities that I'm sure I couldn't find in a hotel. The apartment's superb location offers just about everything - banks, grocery stores, GREAT restaurants (Luzzi's on the corner is a MUST!), coffee shops, subway station and the Colosseo. I cannot ask for more! Marmi - thank you again for helping us with the pick up service. Everything worked out perfectly! I will definitely be back to visit your amazing city. I hope your apartment will be availabe then!! For people looking for a vacation rental in Rome, you simply cannot find a better host.

English - NederlandsCASA LILLIThanks to the hospitality and warm friendliness of Marmi (owner and one-in-a-million lady) we felt like we have found "our home in Rome". The place is located in a quiet neighbourhood near the Colloseum. From there you can perfectly discover the historical city. There’s a supermarket nearby, which is not always easy to find in Rome, and there’s a restaurant "Le Naumachie" (Via Celimontana 7) with delicious food and reasonably priced. The apartment has all the necessary comforts.
