"A Mellow Mixture of Comfort and Class, LOVED it!"
Peacefully posed on a beautiful bluff, this stunning home is set in the center of eight private acres and is ideally located just outside the town of Mariposa, very near Yosemite National Park. This central location makes for EASY access into the two most popular entrances to Yosemite, both just a short and scenic drive from the house. Convenient, clean and comfortable, this is simply an ideal place for a vacation.
THE LIVING, KITCHEN, AND DINING AREAS…
The living room here is long and spacious and includes a sofa, love seat and armchair as well as children’s furniture and more. This ensemble surrounds the stone fireplace and behind it is the Piano.
In the corner of the room you’ll find the entertainment center with a TV, complete with satellite service & extensive channels, including HBO. There's a DVD/VCR player, stereo system, puzzles, board games, a bookcase full of interesting books and novels as well as a varied selection of movies.
At the opposite end of this room is the front entry and casual seating at the counter where you’ll find the computer center and phone. Beyond this area is the big, open kitchen with all new appliances, gas stove, refrigerator w/ice maker, dishwasher, extensive cooking utensils and new tile countertops. Across this room is the delightful dining area that comfortably seats up to six, the open floor plan here allows for comfortable, un-crowded companionship and the views from this room are amazing.
Vineyard View is one of the few that is obligingly set up for the kids. We make a real effort here to cater to families traveling with children and offer the use many baby/child items. The fenced yard, playground & swing are an uncommon find in a vacation rental home.
THE BEDROOMS AND BATHS…
The large, Master Suite is located in the back of the house and has an Eastern King bed, a vanity/sink, private sitting area and large windows overlooking the magnificent views of the grounds and beyond.
The second bedroom is also at the back of the house, opposite the Master bedroom and has a King bed, reading area and large windows with beautiful views. These two rooms share the big, luxurious hall bath that is all new, complete with a claw foot tub below a picture window, a corner shower and mosaic tile floor. Conveniently, this bathroom sits between the bedrooms (so no shared wall between them) and is accessible from the hallway so no traipsing though someone’s bedroom to get there.
In addition, there is a Queen-size Wall Bed in the living room (standard Sealy mattress, very comfortable); guests staying here have a door between this room and the hallway that offers total privacy from the other two bedrooms when closed. There is also a quaintly done bedroom in the large utility room where guests using the Wall-Bed can enjoy a private place for their personal belongings as well as their own full bath and a single bed for quiet afternoon naps.
AND OUTSIDE…
You’ll find yourself in a magical place that will take your breath away. The area surrounding the home is flat, open and dotted with giant Oaks, Cedars and Pines, and the View,…well,… it’s incredible. Just 30 feet from the back of the house are a bench and garden swing to sit in while you enjoy the vast panorama of the valley, vineyard and beyond.
Right out the back door is the small, fenced yard, to one side is the children’s playground and to the other is the redwood table, great for outdoor dining. The firepit is next to this table.
Pass through the garden gate on out to the lanai, this is where you’ll find the spa as well as yet another table and chair combination. Full-size, well-kept and in one of the most incredible locations you’ll ever find, this hot tub is an amazing treat, the night sky is completely unobstructed and the stars from here are insane. Distant city lights twinkle and the quiet is remarkable, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven and will never want to get out. ;-)

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
~Us playing in the snow here last year~
Jerry and I are both semi-retired professionals and consider ourselves extremely fortunate to live so close to Yosemite. We are local, managing owners who live a convenient 4 miles away from this home (we do not reside "on-site" at any of our three rental properties, rest assured your stay with us will remain private). We have over 35 combined years living in the Yosemite area and are nearly always available for assistance without EVER being underfoot or intrusive.
**OF PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE** This home's driveway, unlike MANY in our rural mountain area, is located right off a quiet, paved country road, you won't be forced to navigate miles of steep, rough, un-paved, muddy/dusty, or rutted dirt roads to reach this getaway (something to seriously consider when making your vacation rental choice as you'll likely be making the drive many times). The gravel driveway allows for virtually any (all-wheel drive is always recommended in snow) vehicle to easily access the property year-round and the surrounding roads are quickly plowed in the case of occasional, Mariposa snowfall.
We hop to see you soon at Vineyard View!!
Why the Owner Chose Mariposa
As you may have suspected by now, we are the owners of three of the vacation rental homes in the Mariposa area, all are within nine miles of one another. This was our second to purchase and the third to go live as following its purchase, we spent over a year upgrading the place to improve it to its current, and in some cases original, condition.
Vineyard View had been "let go", but we saw the potential it had and immediately fell in love with both its location, with that breathtaking view as well as with the home's inherent, classic allure and convenient floor plan. The place just won our hearts and we knew that with a lot of creative, hard work that this house could once again become a masterpiece. And it has.
~ All emails and phone messages WILL be returned promptly, within 1-12 hours
~ Between TWO and SEVEN night minimum stay required... ~ Minimum number of nights required varies depending upon Season, as well as the number of nights available - PLEASE INQUIRE
~ Security deposits are refundable within 7 days of departure (terms must be met)
Please Visit our HOME SITE (link right below the rates section) for more photos, some great local area information, an incredibly helpful summary of the seasons and our guestbook, kind of fun to read. ;-)
The Unique Benefits of this House
Although a short distance from Yosemite itself, staying at The Vineyard House (or either of our two other homes) provides visitors a combined element of peace, privacy and affordability that accommodations inside the park cannot.
If you’re looking to be conveniently close to Yosemite (AND a cute little town) but would prefer to not spend your vacation placed in an over-crowded development or conventional hotel then we may have JUST what you’re looking for!
Please Visit our home site for more photos, local, area info & a helpful summary of the seasons.
A few of the more unique things you'll find here are the comfortable, quality mattresses we provide, the incredible view, the walking distance to a winery and being so close to town, yet well away from the highway.
Our guests seem to very much enjoy having a piano to play, the Ping Pong table and the tree swing as well as the assistance they receive from the use of the personalized, competent local information that's provided for them to refer to while planning their stay.
We often hear how enjoyable the night sky and sunsets here are too and of particular importance seem to be the non-Toxic, earth-friendly environment and the abundant wildlife - Birds galore (including our resident Hawk, Ansell), deer in the yard on a daily basis, our shy Red Fox, the Wild Turkey flock and more.
And of course all the things for the children.... When they're happy, everyone's happy ;-)

Kirsty & Jerry, Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home with our whole family (minus our cat!). It is a beautiful place perfect for getting away and we treated it as we would our own home. Ashlyn really did love her little bed and all of the books and toys. I don't think she ever even took one of her own books out of the bag the whole weekend. As beautiful as Yosemite was, I always looked forward to coming back to Vineyard View and lingering there in the mornings. Will definitely recommend you to anyone and everyone we know heading your way. Thanks so much for everything! Kirsty & Jerry provide a GREAT place for a family vacation. The house has everything you need, and is very comfortable, with lots of things for the kids to do (exploring, games, play area, ping pong). The house is secluded and quiet, but if you need supplies you can get to a big shopping center (Oakhurst is a short drive) or a local market (5-10 minutes). The best part is that the house is right between the 41 (Wawona) & 140 (Yosemite Valley) entrances! You can stay here, and visit the park very easily. You also are close to Bass Lake (beautiful! great swimming & boating) and other hiking trails and fishing spots (if you are in to that, saw lots of fishing going on). There is so much to do you will not be bored. Relaxing in the hot tub enjoying the view & the stars after a day of hiking was the perfect ending for our days there!

After our time at Vineyard View we were pretty sure that we couldn't have chosen a better house to rent for our family. The area was just in a perfect state of Spring- green everywhere, fresh air. This area is really gorgeous- "countryside" defined. It seemed like every other property had a horse, goat, or wild turkey roaming. Temperatures were wonderful for being outside all day long, and cool enough for fires in the fireplace at night. The house is very private, though not totally secluded, which is a bit of a comfort. It's old but nicely renovated, so it has lots of charm. They had everything stocked from firewood to laundry soap. Great cooking kitchen. The views from the dining room and the living room are gorgeous. The backyard overlooks a valley. It's an incredible spot for their hot tub, day or night. Our boys (2 and 4) spent most of their time running around the backyard and swinging on the tree swing. We visited Mariposa one day, drove to Yosemite twice. The drive in on 140 follows the Merced River and is really beautiful. It's quite a spacious little house. We look forward to going again someday, perhaps sharing it with our parents, since there would have been plenty of room for another couple.

(Visited mid November) The Vineyard House was the best choice my wife and I could've made for our Yosemite vacation. Located about 30 minutes from the park (about an hour from the valley) and about ten minutes outside of Mariposa proper, it was so peaceful and quiet every night we were there. The loudest noise we ever heard may have been the bubbles from the hot tub during a nice soak underneath the clear California night skies after a full day of hiking. Actually, a neighbor’s dog (not that nearby) may have been barking at the deer that frequented the area, including our backyard. Kirsty and Jerry provided a lot of helpful information as to where to go grocery shopping, eat, tour, etc which made our hardest decision being on what to do at the park each day. We ended most nights drinking wine in front of the wood burning fireplace going over all of the pictures we had taken and watching TV. When you go, make sure you make a stop at the Butterfly Vineyard down below and pick up a few bottles of wine (drive, don't walk - it's a deceptively long road). Make sure you say hi to Bobby - that guy is a riot. I would say that the only (very small) downside is that we had absolutely no cell phone coverage at the house (AT&T) until you got into Mariposa or near the building areas in the valley, but you do have a land line and Internet access. We were disappointed that we forgot to book the masseuse, however. We chose to cook most mornings and nights although we did grab breakfast at Sugar Pines (twice) and dinner at Charles Street Dinner House and Savory – all good spots. Savory’s proprietor responds to reviews of her restaurant on Trip Advisor which says to me that she cares about your experience. If you can afford to, we also recommend booking reservations for dinner at the Ahwahnee which was quite excellent (about $150 on the high side for a three course dinner for two, not including drinks). If you visit during this time, take note that it gets dark about 5pm every night so plan accordingly. The roads are not illuminated at all except in town and you probably don't want to be stuck on a trail after sunset. The only other advice I would have is to please use the turnouts!

We spent 5 days at the Vineyard House and had a great time. We were able to access Yosemite park from two directions very easily. The house is quite centrally located for day trips down Hwy49 to Jamestown and other areas. At night, there's no noise and the stars are great. We've stayed at several other VRBO rentals and the Vineyard House thus far was the best. Great kitchen, hot tub (although we didn't use it) and the fenced yard was great for our dog Lucy. And plenty of good restaurants and local places to visit. Thanks Kirsty and Jerry!!

Our week in the Vineyard House was a wonderful start of our vacation in California. The pictures do not even begin to show the beauty, decor, and warmth the home offers. The house was immaculate, and not a thing was amiss. I honestly believe that if my 3 boys (ages 9, 10, and 14) had the choice between Yosemite or playing in the backyard, they would have picked the latter (I haven't seen my 14 year old "play" in awhile and he was as happy as could be). Coming from a non-rural area, they were enthralled with the tree swing, watching a mama bird feed her babies in 1 of the many birdhouses, looking for deer, petting a horse, runring after the wild turkeys and playing ping-pong while enjoying the breeze. I loved seeing them laugh, play, and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately for them, we did spend most of our time in Yosemite, Mammoth, and Mono Lake. Highly recommend Mammoth: Devil's Postpile and Rainbow Falls are a must. Both can be done in the same day. Although we were out until late, what a wonderful feeling it was knowing we were coming home, yes home, to our cozy, comfy house. The beds and pillows were perfect for our aching muscles and it was always a toss up between the shower or the claw foot tub. We didn't use the hot tub, which overlooked the vineyard and chapel below, as we got home too late each night. It looked very inviting, tho. The weather was perfect and the stars were twinkling. I probably would have fallen asleep in it. I wish I could have cancelled our 2nd week in northern CA and stayed at the house longer. Make sure you visit the vineyard next door. Tastings are daily (I believe) and the friendly owner will take you on a tour. There are also lots of dogs to play with! Be careful driving at dusk/night as the deer are plentiful. We saw a fawn nursing with its mother...how cool is that? If you are interested in white water rafting, Zephyr is the best company out there and very close to the house. The guides are lots of fun and the rapids were just right (3's and under) for the kids. They also stop and let you jump off rocks, run and slide on the rafts, and float outside of the raft. I highly recommend this home and would love to stay there again. PS...the owners are great and we thank them dearly for sharing their home with us. They thought of everything you would need to make your stay perfect. Enjoy every moment of your stay....we did!

Kirsty- I wanted to Thank You for all you did to make our first ever family vacation a very successful experience, even with the rainy weather. Vineyard View was a perfect match for our grandchildren. They really enjoyed playing in the back yard. Our last night there we had the pleasure of seeing seven deer- it was so thrilling for our three and a half year old grandson. The younger grand children enjoyed the experience as well. All in all it was a wonderful time for everyone. We had a beautiful day in Yosemite on Friday- Thanks again for everything!!!
