Harlech house description
Ty Cwch is truly unique. A spacious and secluded property, set in the stunning Snowdonia National Park. The property itself is detached, amid one acre of mature gardens and trees. Surrounded on three sides by fields, and on the fourth side by the river/estuary. It is a brilliant place to unwind, play, discover and enjoy time with family and friends. A beautiful 10 minute walk through fields, along the embankment and over the scenic Cambrian Coastal railway finds you in your own sweet paradise. With no residential neighbors, and no vehicle access to the property, your journey of discovery really does start the minute you arrive.
Built in the 1930's, The Boathouse was designed on the Queen Mary ocean liner. The comfortable and spacious cabins (bedrooms) are beautifully limed oak paneled with a distinctive nautical theme and many original features, including wonderful art-deco sinks.
The first floor lounge, also with original features has French doors, opening to the wooden walkway that surrounds the house, giving uninterrupted seaward views. A wooden stairway gives access to the flat roof (top deck) for stunning 360 degree views, over the Rhinogau mountains to the east, and the sea and the distant Llyn peninsular to the west. Sunsets here are breathtaking, undoubtedly the finest in the northern hemisphere.
The ground floor comprises of a spacious, stylish, open-plan living/kitchen/dining area, with a wood burning stove. There is also a large utility and games room. The extensive gardens are exciting, and have areas ideal for ball games, messing about, reading in the hammocks or just lying in the grass.
Many flat, grassy areas within the grounds make it an ideal safe place for kids to ‘camp out’, so feel free to bring tents.
A patio, terrace and purpose built BBQ will mean plenty of long summer evenings, sharing food, laughter and outdoor life with friends and family. A short walk from the house, via footpaths and river banks, gives you access to the incredible beaches of Shell Island, Llandanwg and the superlative Harlech beach, with its miles of deserted golden sands and massive vistas over Cardigan Bay, where you can regularly see Atlantic dolphins.

Why the Owner Chose Harlech:
Fantastic and unusual property with a long history. The team that created the Old Grey Fergie tractor, and some of the Triumph sports cars, did so here when it was owned by Captain Sir John Black.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Although you have to walk here, the feeling of isolation and privacy makes it well worthwhile!
