We are adjacent to the Gallatin National Forest, 1/2 mile off Hwy 20 and is an easy, short 10 minute drive from West Yellowstone on state highway 20. Our access is excellent year round.

Moose Haven is a modern cabin that has 4 bedrooms and will comfortably sleep 11. Moose Haven is located 6 miles west of the "western style" City of West Yellowstone, in the Lazy Acres area, 1/2 mile off Hwy 20. We are a short eight-minute drive from the west gate of Yellowstone National Park.

Enjoy this unique opportunity to spend time in the most beautiful place on earth. Observe deer, antelope, elk, moose, rocky mountain big horn sheep and mountain goats in their natural habitat, all within a few minutes or "feet" of the cabin.

Moose Haven is a 2200 square foot, cozy western style log home originally built in 1947 and recently placed upon a concrete fully built basement. Moose Haven was recently renovated and has been modernized with all electrical, plumbing, heating, appliance amenities.

The main floor is complimented with the natural logs, is quiet, cozy and comfortable. There is a large living room, one bedroom, and a full bathroom on this floor, along with the kitchen and dining room. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one large room with a king size bed. The other with three single beds. Downstairs is another full, large living room/game/TV room, a master bedroom, a full bathroom, and a full service laundry.

We also have Direct TV, TV/VCR/DVD players, a variety of CD's and DVD's and games for your use. Provided for your comfort are all paper goods, silverware, linens, towels, and blankets.

There is a fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher, range, microwave, and all the cookware. The dining room table will seat eight. Before dinner enjoy a glass of wine on the deck while watching the sunset on the mountains. In the morning watch deer, moose, and birds while sipping your morning coffee. On the deck there is a comfortable patio set and gas grill. A fire pit is available off the cabin deck that is great for telling stories around the fire and watching the stars light up the Montana Big Sky.

The Moose Haven Cabin is located in the center of designated wilderness areas and national parks. America's first national park, Yellowstone National Park is located a short 7 miles away. In addition to Yellowstone National Park you will want to take the time to explore Jackson Hole and Teton National Park, the Lewis and Clark Caverns and their historical Trail. River rafting is available within an hour's drive on the nearby Gallatin River. Raft down the wild rapids section, or cruise the lower smoother section as a family float.

We have a horse riding stable and outfitter within 1/2 mile for hourly rides, full day, or longer in the Gallatin National Forest (closed winter). Sleigh rides are available, now this is an awesome winter family experience!

Enjoy the traditional old west towns of Virginia City with old time saloons. I also highly recommend the 30 minute drive to Cliff and Wade Lakes for beautiful scenery, great fly fishing, and hiking. If you are a bird watcher, the Red Rock Conservation Refuge is about 45 minutes from the cabin.

Why the Owner Chose West Yellowstone

We chose Moose Haven because of the very close location to Yellowstone Park (15 mins), the area fishing, and yet because the home is located in the forest you still think your far, far away from civilization.

My wife has been in this area since she was 3, I started going there 40+ years ago, it has always been a dream to be there. During other times of the year we down in southern states enjoying sunshine, during July we work in France for the Tour De France bike race, getting to ride bikes is our work each summer!

The Unique Benefits at this Country House / Chateau

A real benefit staying in our home...is that it is just that..."our home", it is not a shell rental unit, but is a rich, comfortable, very well appointed home with everything you need.

We are 10 minutes from West Yellowstone, and YNP west gate. The town has all amenities with good restaurants and grocery stores. We are within 45 minutes of the best fishing waters in the US, if not the world. Lake Hebgen is a large lake 5 minutes away, horseback outfitters 5 minutes away, 90 miles to the south is Jackson Hole and the Grand Teton Park.

We like the bakery and coffee shop in town, and much more.

One of our favorite activities, is to simply have a nice lunch on the back deck, do some reading and listen to the wind through the tall pines and then nap....yes NAP!

It is a must do experience!

Owner's Map of West Yellowstone

We have spent nearly our lifetimes living and raising our four children, now six grandchildren in Yellowstone Country. We love to hike Yellowstone Park, we are major fly fishing nuts, we love just sitting in the pines, taking the grandkids on nature walks, and provide a destination for our children.

The lodge is a wonderful place for a family or in our case a bunch of good friends to enjoy the beauty of Montana. The amenities are equal to your home and the sleeping is excellent. The presence of a washer and dryer is a welcomed benefit for a group of snowmobiliers like us. I would gladly recommend this place to anyone for future use.

This was an e mail I received from one of our recent clients, Cameron Phillips, Owner Yes, we had another wonderful Thanksgiving holiday at Moose Haven and with Wednesday's snowfall, the Rendezvous Trails were great. It snowed again Fri & Sat, so even the spots on the trails that were beginning to show some wear filled in again. It seemed like there were more skiers this year, we saw teams from Vermont, Minnesota, Methow Valley in Washington, so we're thinking W Yellowstone might have been the best place for snow right now (although the Colorado Mtns sure have had their share). We met the Manager when we arrived and she had everything ready for us. It was nice of her to pick up the garbage daily and she had the driveway plowed since it had snowed pretty good on Wednesday, which we also appreciated. We were noticing how Moose Haven seemed cleaner, maybe especially the kitchen? And we really appreciated all the new pots and pans and bowls and glasses, etc. They sure fit all our needs during our many meals, which of course wouldn't have been complete without a golden brown turkey and turkey soup on the days to follow! Thanks, too, for the plentiful paper products
