If you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable, fun filled vacation, then look no further. You have found the perfect vacation. We had everything we needed at this gorgeous property in beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado. We had such a good time, we didn’t want to leave. We felt so welcome in the house - as soon as we stepped through the doors, we already felt at home. It was so nice going on vacation but having so many comforts of home.
The mountain décor was beautiful and made it truly feel like a cabin in the mountains. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook each meal, and we enjoyed eating at the big table in the dining room. It was so nice watching TV on the big screen. Our favorite activity was being outside and enjoying the incredible views from the large deck while listening to the stream below. The bear cubs especially enjoyed going down to the pond and watching the fish jump. To bad we didn’t bring our fishing poles!
If you don’t feel like staying indoors, there is so much to do in Buena Vista. There’s snowmobiling in the winter, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and swimming at the hot springs, just to mention a few. There are also some great restaurants to eat at if you don’t feel like cooking. It was so nice to read everyone’s nice comments about their previous stays. One guest had this to say, “The sound of water running over rocks and stones, horses grazing in the green pastures, aspen tree leaves rustling in the breeze… Memories are made of this.” And I agree.

Beautiful Rocky Mountain Log Home on Cottonwood Creek
Year Purchased: 1992
The Unique Benefits at this House
Since 1992, Bob and Joyce have opened up their log home to friends, family and many guests who share their love for beautiful mountain views, great fishing and relaxation that can only be found in the mountains. When you arrive at the Log Home and hear the gentle roar of Cottonwood Creek, see the trout jumping in the private fishing pond and stand in awe of the 14,000+ foot mountains that surround you, you can not help but feel the worries of the day-to-day life melt away.
One of our favorite “rituals” is to have breakfast/coffee out on the deck overlooking the creek and fishing pond in the morning to talk about what everyone wants to do that day. After a fun filled day of activity (fishing, shopping, rafting, skiing, reading, etc) or non-activity (naps and/or sunbathing on the deck) we reconvene for wine and cheese on the balcony to discuss who is cooking dinner or what great local restaurant we are heading off to. Yep…that is our basic routine. You should try it…it is an easy lifestyle to get used to.
One-story, 3 bedrooms (sleeps 8), 2 bathrooms, wood-burning fireplace, full kitchen, HD TV, large library with sleeper sofa, washer/dryer, deck overlooking Cottonwood Creek, & private fishing pond.
Two-story, 3-bedrooms (sleeps 6), 2-bathrooms, full kitchen, HD TV, washer/dryer, large deck overlooking Cottonwood Creek, private fishing pond and mountain views.
Two bedrooms (sleeps 4), 1-bathroom, full kitchen, TV, washer/dryer, deck, picnic area overlooking Cottonwood Creek, private fishing pond and mountain views.
Cozy 1-bedroom (sleeps 2), kitchenette, fireplace, TV, picnic area overlooking Cottonwood Creek, private fishing pond and mountain views.
The Meeting Place has four large picnic tables. Large groups using both the Pinewood Home and Log Home can gather here for meals, play games, etc.
The foot path connects the Cabin and Sunflower Room to the Pinewood Home and Log Home.

Five of my best "girlfriends" and I celebrated my 60th birthday Sept. 16-20, 2009 in this beautiful log home in Buena Vista, CO. The weather was gorgeous, the stream behind the property was gurgling, and the aspens were peaked. The first day there was designated "Buena Vista Day" and we all piled into one van and went to town. We probably went into every shop before stopping to have lunch at Mother's. Dinner was at Mt. Princeton Hotel followed by the coolest thing of all--sitting in the hot springs at night. Later, back at the log home, we had a fire in the fireplace and played games at a nice, big table in the great room. Day II was "Aspen & Leadville Day" and Day III was Oktoberfest in Breckenridge. There is no chance of running out of things to do, because even if you lack imagination, you can sit in a rocking chair on the huge deck and just gaze at the 14,000-foot mountain peaks or go for a walk along Cottonwood Creek. My friends and I loved the house, loved the entire area, and we'd go back in a heartbeat. Everything we planned went off without a hitch and there were no disappointments. A couple weeks before we arrived, there had been a rare sighting of a bear, so we were on the lookout for him. Fortunately, we didn't see him, but we saw plenty of deer lying on the lawns of the homes in town every evening around dinner time and a big moose prancing in a field on the side of the road on our way back from Breckenridge. When it was time for me to blow out the candles on my birthday cake, I only had one wish to make....I wished that I could do this all over again next year.

My family and I have been vacationing at the Log Home for over five years. The owners have gone the extra mile to make their home a renter’s delight. So much attention has been given to this beautiful vacation home both on the inside and outside that photos nor words would do it justice. You must come here to see it for yourself. This is the place to go if you are looking for a unique family vacation. The mountain views, the babbling creek, the outstanding amenities and excellent customer service will keep my family returning for many years in the future.
