Quiet, secluded, yet only a stone's throw from the beach and the crystal blue waters of the Pacific. Our ocean view studio condo is a very well appointed vacation unit for a single or couple, and still one of the best values on Kaua'i.
On the top (third) floor of the Prince Kuhio Resort in Po'ipu guests have a 180 degree view from the mountains to the ocean. In the morning the sunrise greets you with the gentle trade winds and the scents of the tropics. At night the romantic moonlight rises over your lanai.
You will find a fully equiped kitchen, shower with compact bath tub, separate dressing room, free wifi internet, and many other amenities to make your stay fully enjoyable. An on site resident manager can help answer your questions.
The beautifully landscaped grounds feature a secluded swimming pool, koi ponds, gas and charcoal bbq, and much more. E komo mai (welcome).
Fine dining is just across the street, and other beaches and shopping in Koloa and Poipu
are only a five to ten minute drive away.

I was disappointed that this property was in need of upgrading. Some of the units have been improved, but this was not one of them. The furniture was all mismatched and appears to have been obtained from thrift shops and garage sales. The bed has some patio furniture cushions as a headboard and the mattress is in poor condition so a feather mattress cover is used. The walls and ceiling need painting .The view of the ocean is beautiful from the patio, but you cannot sit outside because of the bird droppings and the water from the noisy air conditioner. The pool is also in a lovely grotto, but was unusable while I was there because of a broken pump. I have no idea how long it has been broken. The cost of renting this un renovated unit is not in line with what a well renovated, well furnished unit would cost. The clean out fee is outrageous for such a small unit.Owner response: My wife Carole and I both regret that any guest's vacation on Kaua'i may have been compromised because of conditions in our unit. Our hope is to enhance the stay of our guests, not detract from it. We agree that we need to schedule a painting. There are too many dings, dents, and smudges on the walls and ceiling. The mattress is in good shape but firm. So we recently purchased a mattress topper so that our guests could have a choice of firm or softer mattress. Our cleaning lady is expensive. But she is the best we could find. We have heard only compliments about her care, and have found her to be very reliable and thorough. The entire cleaning fee goes to her. Not a cent to us. The furniture is eclectic by design. It includes a handmade koa nite table, and a handmade koa reading lamp. There are storage cabinets, a small flat screen TV/DVD player and free wifi. The AC is only about a year old. It can be loud on the highest setting, but turning down the fan a notch dramatically reduces the noise. In 2012 we tinted the windows, and the roof was painted white, so there is less need for the AC. Plus the lanai door opens to the trade winds. Should bird droppings be a problem, the unit is well stocked with cleaning supplies, or a guest can contact our property manager. Guests should have full access to the pool. Even though it is not our responsibility, we try to get an estimated time of access or offer some compensation should the pool be inaccessible. That is a fair complaint. We don't feel our prices are out of line. We offer a clean fully-stocked studio unit on Kaua'i, with a two minute walk to the ocean in December for $95/nite. That being said, we do have room for improvement, and will strive to do better within the coming months. John and Carole Patt

We stayed at the condo for the second half of our honeymoon. It is a small unit, but we found that it had everything we needed. The unit was clean and seemed well maintained. It is in a nice location and has a pretty view. It is close to shopping centers and beaches. We would definitely stay there again. It was a treat getting to stay on two different sides of the island!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

While we have a time share on the island every other year, this is definitely a room we will come back to often. Our experience here was exceptional in every way. We could feel the love and thoughtfulness expressed here. Everything we needed was supplied. The location couldn't have been better. The room was very clean and so comfortable. The view from the lanai was beautiful. It was wonderful to meet the owner and not only purchase beautiful Kauai made clothing from her but receive great information about the island and its history. We loved our snorkeling across the street and the yummy dinner at the Beach House. The other restaurants we enjoyed were Pomodoros, Island Palm and Brick Oven Pizza. The ultra light flying was one of the highlights of our trip. Don't miss it.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Why Prince Kuhio Resort:
Back in '04 when real estate was booming, my ex-wife, who had made a lot of money in real estate told us that we needed to get into the market. We bought this unit because it was the only one we could afford.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Back in '94 we disconnected the cable since there wasn't anything worth watching on TV. But I like going down there to watch a baseball or football game from time to time. Carole enjoys all the tinkering and fine-tuning. Most of the decor is hers. My contribution will be the flat screen TV in a few months.
In the evening we sit out on the lanai, sip a glass of wine, and share the day. When the moonlite breaks over the park, it's dakine!
