Islamorada condo description
Holzman’s Bayside is a first floor apartment overlooking the water. Bayside is located on a small resort property nestled in a native hammock on Florida Bay. An easy 90 minute drive from Miami International Airport, this property is located in the heart of Islamorada, directly on Florida Bay, in a secluded native hammock. Bayside is fully air conditioned and there are ceiling fans throughout. The kitchen is modern and equipped with all the desired appliances. The property is a nature lovers dream with resident fish, lobster, an octopus and an occasional manatee in the marina, iguanas that sun themselves by the boat basin and pelicans, egrets and osprey that fly in for periodic visits. Our boat basin can accommodate boats up to 26 feet in length and dockage is included in the rental.
The property is private and secluded, away from traffic and noise, yet is convenient to many of the best restaurants and attractions in the Keys. A variety of shopping is nearby. Sunsets over the water of Florida Bay are breathtaking. Well behaved pets are welcome, please inquire.
Bayside has a master bedroom with a king size bed and it's own bathroom. There is a second bath. There is a new queen size Murphy bed in the living room. The living room and dining area are bright and sunny. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, range and microwave, dishwasher, icemaker, coffee pot, blender, dishes and pots and pans. A barbecue is provided to grill your fresh catch. The entertainment center has a TV with cable services, a DVD player, and stereo should it rain one afternoon. A clothes washer and dryer are provided. The marina has electric service and water, and has automatic lights at night. A boat ramp is available for boats up to 17-18 feet. Trailer parking is available. Included in the rental is admission to the Islamorada Founders Park, just a short drive north to Plantation Key where you will find an olympic size pool, tennis, ball fields, and other amenities.
You're minutes away from the best back country (bonefish, tarpon, permit, snook, redfish), blue water (sailfish, dolphin, wahoo, cobia) and reef fishing (grouper, snapper, yellowtail) in the entire Florida Keys. Fishing off of our jetty in the evening is a lot of fun for the kids. Magnificent snorkeling and scuba diving sites abound in the local area. A wide range of boating activities are available year round since our area of the bay is well protected. Sea Kayaking and canoeing along our shoreline is popular. Of course water skiing and knee-boarding are a hit with the kids. Local shopping for clothing, souvenirs, and fishing and boating needs is plentiful. Grocery stores are convenient. There are several local attractions if you need a day out of the sun and there are several . Key West is a day-trip away.
Bayside is an unique place, and the people who visit, both owners and guests, feel very special about the property. The privacy is wonderful, the accommodations are new and clean, the property peaceful, and the access to the fishing is the best in the Keys, indisputably. We hope you will also find it as special as have we, and will add your name to the growing list who return to enjoy the most gorgeous sunsets and the best fishing and diving in the world.
Bayside generally rents for 1 week intervals, from Saturday to Saturday. If Bayside is what you are looking for, please contact us and to reserve the dates. The reservation will be confirmed upon receiving a check for $500.00. The balance of the rental costs including tax (11.5%) and refundable security deposit($100.00) are due 6 weeks before arrival.
We look forward to your visiting our little piece of paradise, and are sure you will have a wonderful and special visit. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at any time.

Had a wonderful time at Bayside. Perfect location for great boating, fishing, kayaking, upscale restaurants, shopping, activities, and relaxing. The unit has been recently remodeled and no comfort is overlooked. Even though I did not cook, there was everything you could possibly need for indoor or outdoor cooking. I was initially concerned about the Murphy bed in the living room, but it has a great mattress and plenty of living room space with it set up. We actually left it down the whole time. We rented a tandem kayak and road bike from the shop at the end of the street, very accommodating, reasonably priced, and quality equipment. Part of vacation for us is eating out every meal with our dogs and the restaurants in this area (Marker 88-great place to take dogs with huge outdoor seating area,The Green Turtle-small outdoor area in back for dogs, Chef Michaels-great Sunday brunch, MEAT, Kaiyo, Mrs. Mac's Kitchen, and I am sure I am leaving out some)are the best in the keys. Theater of the Sea (where you can also take your well behaved dogs to the park, boat ride, dolphin, and sea lion shows)which is a regular stop for us every year is a family run old Florida attraction where you can swim with a dolphin, sea lion, and/or sting rays. We have participated in these activities in many facilities and this has one of the best interactions we have ever experienced. This is about as close as you can get to blue green Caribbean waters without getting on a plane and using a passport. Anne's Beach, just a little bit south of bayside, is a wonderful place to see a keys oceanside beach with your dog. Also, Founder's park, a little north, has a great dog park and a nice beach on the bayside (but no dogs are allowed on the beach). Finally, in our dogs vacation it was nice for them to see and play with the other renter's dogs. Besides hanging out with neighbors around the dock area at sunset, there was also plenty of space if you wanted to watch the sunset alone, everyone respected everyone else's privacy, but also helped out if you needed with boats, etc. We loved it and we will definitely be back! Having a private, clean, home away from home to stay in, along with a dock for the boat we rented, was absolutely a game changer. The central location and easy access to Gulf/Ocean fishing was more than we could have expected and made every fishing day a fantastic event. Looking forward to starting an annual tradition and will be including the Keys Kottage as our first choice. Thanks Bernie!

Hi Bernie and Linda, Just to let you know that we had a very happy holiday at Bayside last week.Unfortunately a week was not enough but we did try and make the most of it. We attempted to leave Bayside in the same state as we found it and believed we achieved that. Our journey home went according to plan except for the weather on arrival back into the U.K. only 34 F.Thanks again for allowing us to share that experience.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bayside. Our only regret is that we did not book two weeks! However, hindsight is 20/20, but I can promise we will not make that mistake again. The unit was perfect for us and our dog, and without a doubt this is a treasure. We shall return! Thank you so much for a wonderful week. (And keep in mind that we arrived the weekend of Hurricane Issac, but even he didn't bother us! The unit is that nice!)

We Want to come back!!
We Want to come back!!
This is a very clean, very spacious, well thought-out home for a vacation. The beds are comfy, the living space is roomy and I can't think of anything we needed that we didn't have. The seawall is AMAZING and the place we spent most of our time catching sharks, barracuda, catfish, snapper, ladyfish, and even a toadfish! What a place to kick back and relax, have a drink and watch the sunset. The owners are quick to reply to any inquiries. If you park in the Bayside slot, you have flowers on your car every morning. There is a very friendly squirrel, iguaunas, and several land crabs everywhere. The outside deck is a perfect place to cook your catch of the day and a great way to wind down for the day. Thank you Bernie and Linda . We had a great, memorable time sitting on the seawall, playing "the cloud game" (finding shapes in the clouds) and just overall relaxing and forgetting about our work lives for awhile. We'll be back, with your permission.

This is late coming, but I just wanted to leave a note on what a great time my family and I have at the Keys Kottage. This was our second time here, both years we stayed the last week of June. We could not have asked for a better place to take a family, kids, dogs, grand parent and us. There is something for everyone, from our day fishing trips out of our boat, to Robbies and time out on the sand bar. The accomidations are very homey and comfortable. Thank you for letting us share part of the paradise that is the Keys. Bill Sommer, Kim, Keegan, Grace and Josh

Wonderful Place to Stay
Wonderful Place to Stay
My husband and I have stayed in the Keys dozens of times and this is by far the nicest place we've been. The landscaping is beautiful, the view can't be beat. The apartment was spotless and very tastefully decorated. I could live there in a heartbeat! Restuarants and shopping are so convenient. Bently's Raw Bar is a half mile away and we ate there twice. The food is excellent. The owners are so nice to deal with. We made our reservations at the last minute and they were very accomodating. I would definitely reccomend staying here, I know we will be back.

Year Purchased: 1994
About the owner: We're Bernie & Linda Holzman and Bayside is one of two units we have on this property. We're originally New Yorkers but have lived in Florida for more than 30 years. Our kids grew up on this property and we consider ourselves very lucky that we have had the opportunity to enjoy it and help develop it into a special vacation destination for families and couples who love the water, boating, diving and fishing as do we.
Why the Owner Chose Islamorada:
We were introduced to this property in 1984 by very close friends, Phyllis & Bob Mitchell (VRBO#34491) who had just purchased their unit. It was love at first sight, the open views of Florida Bay, the magnificent sunsets, the privacy and great boating facilities. It took 7 years for another unit to come up for sale and when it did we jumped on it in 1991. That wass our first unit, the Keys Kottage (VRBO # 33938). In fact, it took two years to completely remodel the Keys Kottage, every weekend and vacation. We enjoyed being there so much that when we finished and began to rent the Keys Kottage to special guests we had to buy another unit (VRBO# 72385) and start all over again, just so we could spend our free time there. This unit which is on the water overlooking our boat basin and Florida Bay became Bayside which we made into a very special place, for our own use. But we didn't count on our grandchildren (five of them) living in the northeast. So now that we are retired, we spend all of our spare time on airplanes visiting our grandchildren. And our special Bayside is available for guests to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Bayside, and the property we know as Holiday House, is a unique property unlike almost anything in the keys. It is small and private, yet the owners and guests who vacation here are warm and friendly. We are centrally located in the heart of Islamorada and convenient to restaurants, grocery stores, tourist attractions, marinas and fuel docks and access to the back country or the patch reefs and offshore fishing. And without a doubt this is the finest location to watch the most gorgeous sunsets over the water,........ and if you're real lucky you just might see the green flash!
