LOCATION
This home is an unusual rental: an upscale, modern home on Mazatlán’s famous Paseo Centenario, just above the historic center of town. This is a great location on Cerro del Vigia (Lookout Hill), two blocks from Olas Altas with its sandy beach, crashing waves and famed malecón, an oceanside walkway lined with seafront restaurants, monuments, and Mazatlán’s best people watching. The Plazuela Machado in the heart of Old Mazatlan is an easy 10-minute walk from the house and the downtown central market is a 15-minute walk. There are many restaurants, bars, and small shops located in the neighborhood, as well as a great spa.
VIEWS
The home’s prime hilltop location offers views in every direction. From the kitchen, you can see the high-rise hotels of the Zona Dorada (Golden Zone). The Pacific Ocean twinkles through keyhole views just across the street. The master and large guest room have views of Stone Island and the coastline south; the sizeable deck boasts a truly spectacular view of Mazatlán’s harbor.
KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM
This modern, breezy kitchen is spacious and comfortable with good views and a comfortable area for informal dining. The kitchen was outfitted by an owner who loves to cook; it has first-class supplies ranging from stainless steel pots and pans to new dishes, fine drinking glasses, Italian cutlery, etc. For your health and peace of mind, the kitchen has both a UV water-filter system and bottled water on the premises. There is a separate laundry room with washer and dryer and a large pantry leading to yet another small deck and the lower level party room. The kitchen table seats four and the formal dining room table seats six. Each room has ceiling fans and breezes.
BEDROOMS AND BATHS
This 3-bedroom, 4-bath home offers a great deal of privacy. The master bedroom is located in its own wing and has a king-sized bed, walk-in closet, full bath, and small balcony off the front of the house. The second, equally spacious bedroom is located in another wing. It has 2 queen beds and is adjacent to a full bath entered off the hall. A third, small bedroom with 1 queen bed is also in this wing. All three bedrooms have extensive built-in closets and drawers and all are furnished with high-quality beds, pillows, linens, and towels.
Both large bedrooms have individual AC units and the small bedroom has a large ceiling fan. There is a powder room off the living room and an additional full bath off the downstairs party room. (Please note: "full bath" means a sink, toilet, shower, and the normal accessories that accompany these items, there are no bathtubs in this house.)
THINGS TO DO IN MAZATLAN
There are great neighborhood strolls right outside the door and a small, sandy surfing beach (Playa Olas Altas) two short blocks away. Mazatlán's historic center, the neighborhood that starts just at the bottom of the hill, has an art museum, an archeological museum, the Angela Peralta Theater, the Casa Machado, Spas ($20 massages), an English-language library, and many good restaurants, bars and shops.
Some of the city’s most popular restaurants are located around the Plazuela Machado, a lovely, shady, bench-lined town square which is the historic heart of Mazatlán. The recently refurbished Angela Peralta Theater offers everything from films to concerts to opera. The Plazuela is a relaxed 10-minute walk from the house.

- Cooking Utensils Provided: Pots, pans, cutting boards, knives, mixing bowls, serving bowls -- you name it and we probably have it!

- Deck/Patio: There are patios and/or decks off the kitchen, pantry, master suite, guest wing, and party room. The decks offer views north to the Golden Zone and south as far as the eye can see. The big deck off the guest wing is where the BBQ is, and this is a great space to watch the cruise ships come in and out of port. Bring your binoculars. :-)

- Beach View: See "ocean view" below. From the main (harbor facing) deck, you can see the beach for such a long distance that it seems you can actually see the curve of the earth.
- Ocean View: The neighbors across the street have oceanfront properties and the ocean is visible in keyhole views between their houses, as well as visible from the kitchen table looking north to the Golden Zone. There is a sweeping, million-dollar view of the harbor and beach to the south from the main deck off the hall in the guest wing.

- This is a spectactular house in a great location. The house offers views of the Pacific Ocean, the harbor, and the city as well as a great walking neighborhood right outside the door. Unlike many rental properties, this house truly is completely and comfortably furnished. We have many return guests.
- Suitability
- Pet Friendly: Please let us know what your pet is like and we'll go from there. We are "dog people" ourselves and usually don't mind pets. Please note: there is no real yard or a dog door, although there is an outdoor garden area where you could take your dogs.
- Not Suitable for Children: The house is not suitable for children under 6. The surfaces are tiled and not really kid-friendly, and the furnishings are chosen with adults and not children in mind.
- Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Our minimum age limit for renters is 25 years old, although adults with teenage children or with children older than 6 are welcome.
- Smoking Not Allowed: Smoking allowed on decks but discouraged, and not allowed ever inside the house.

To hold property, we require a nonrefundable rental deposit of 50% of the rent.

We love Mazatlan and hope to live there someday. To us, Maz is the perfect combination of city and beach living, and we are endlessly charmed by the Olas Altas neighborhood. It is as wonderful as any place we have ever found in the world and has everything we need, as well as plenty of things we don't really need, but that we love: An art museum. A spa. A sidewalk alongside the water's edge. A tortilleria. A boat launch to Stone Island. Wish we were there now!
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love the luxurious amount of space in our Mazatlan home and how wonderfully designed the space is. We often have house guests there and everyone fits in comfortably, with plenty of room both for privacy and for gathering together. We love the million-dollar view off the big deck, where we watch cruise ships come and go into the harbor and beyond the harbor, to see out to Stone Island and beyond. This view allows you to see the beach turn into coastline and thin into mist as it follows the curve of the earth.
