Turenne and the Dordogne May 2011

We absolutely loved staying at this midevel era house. The location and view is stunning. The house is situated directly beneath the castle ruin at the very top of the village of Turenne. Every room has a gorgeous view of the valley below. Le and Michel were extremely friendly and helpful. Thanks for the cherries. My wife and 3 adult children stayed here. The kids loved everything (particularly the pool), except for the lack of night life (Turenne is a quiet village). Le and Michel helped us to find some great restaurants (check out the restaurant in Turenne Gare). The Dordogne is a bit of a drive through some beautiful windy roads. Get a GPS. I would love to come back and stay longer. Suggest the canoe trip out of La Roque-Gageac. You canoe under 3 stone arch bridges and past about 5 castles. Get there in the morning so you can explore the town of Beynac (we missed that). Buy some wine and cheese and a bagette and eat in. Merci beaucoup, Le and Michel

Amazing week!

This spot is stunning. Our week here exceeded expectations. The house is lovely, comfortable and had everything we needed. The views from the deck and garden are spectacular. The town is small and quiet compared to some of the other touristy spots . The owners are lovely, hospital people who offered their plum trees to us (which we enjoyed). We highly recommend this lovely home with spectacular views. This is a gorgeous part of France and we are so very happy we spent a week here.

The house in Turenne

Date of Stay: 05/15/10 Review Submitted: 06/06/10

My family and friends stayed in this beautiful house near the end of May, 2020. The house easily accomodated the six of us. The views from the terraces and bedroom windows are magnificent. Le and Michel, our hosts, were gracious and even lent us a computer so we could check our email. The village is lovely. I have rented several houses in France over the years but this house is a wonder for its charm, locaction and hosts. We had a great time exploring the region and then returning home in the evening to relax at the house.

My family and I had an absolutely wonderful holiday in Turenne. Our hosts could not have been more gracious. Their local knowledge and willingness to share this with us was very helpful and greatly added to our enjoyment of the area. Waking up with a view across the valley was a highlight of the day no matter what the weather. Highly recommended for a truly memorable holiday with family and friends.
