Granted Christmas Wish

It has been a while since my family has had four generations together in one place for Christmas. This was also a big holiday since it is the last one we will have with my brother and his wife before they deploy to Afghanistan. I had at one time a total of 18 people at this house on the eve and day of Christmas. It was roomy enough for everyone to enjoy each other’s company. The game room kept many people all from 7 years to 67 years entertained. The fire place was wonderful since we had some cold and wet weather move in during the holidays. There is nothing like waking up on Christmas morning to a beautiful Christmas tree, a nice warm fire, and a beautiful sunrise on the lake that the house faces out to. The TV, DVD player and surround sound downstairs were great for family movies that we watched such as Christmas Vacation and Despicable Me. It was also great for listening to Christmas music or just for some soft background music. It was easy to view and hear from any part of the room. We did not get the chance to use the upstairs game room projector but there are two TVs mounted to watch while playing pool among other things. The hot tube out back was great at night since it was chilly out and the clear night sky gave us a chance to take in the beauty of the stars. A few in our group brought along fishing rods and caught a couple of bass. There was a great gas/ charcoal grill available but we just never got around to using it. If I had any questions the property owner Mike was always available to call and answer any of them that we had. The Kroger off of I-45 made it easy to resupply anything we were out of. We are from Houston but many that visited were not so we did make trips down town and to Galveston with no troubles. My grandmother of 87 years was also here to visit. I picked this house since the master bedroom was on the first floor and the master bathroom has a very nice stand alone shower for her to use as well as pleny of space to move about. I would recommend this to any family trying to put together a small reunion or just for a good fun filled and relaxed week or extended weekend. Thanks again Mike for allowing us to enjoy your home over the holidays. I feel truly blessed to have spent such a great memory filled weekend with my family.

Just returned from a week long stay. I have to say that upon arrival I was a little disappointed. The kids were so excited about the gameroom, having seen it in pictures and in a brief walk-through of the house (however, everything was turned off when we walked the property) so when we arrived the first thing they wanted to do was play the games. We flipped all the switches and three of the games came on. The fourth one seemed to be on but the screen stayed black. My kids really enjoyed playing Ms. Pacman and challenged their dad to a "face off" One of the games was on but couldn't be played unless we kept feeding it quarters! I loved all the neon signs (though only half lit up) and the old jukebox (really disappointed that it didn't work) and the full size phone booth was really cool to look at. The slot machines didn't work and neither did the dart game. The adults in the group were really looking forward to the margarita machine but, you guessed it, it didn't work either. There was a DVD player in the game room but we couldn't figure out how to get the sound to work. The receiver would not turn on either. We checked all the outlets and they seemed to be working fine. Not sure what the problem was. The older kids really enjoyed the pool table. (Not electric so it worked fine!) I've read some of the other posts about the cleanliness of the house and I have to disagree. When we got there the house smelled okay but the kitchen and gameroom floors were sticky and the counters in the kitchen had to be wiped down before we could set anything on them. For all the negatives I've listed we still had a really good time. My little kids loved the hot tub. They called it their little pool. I would like to see the owner put in a gas grill. Cooking on charcoal was difficult, especially when the grill is falling apart and it didn't look like the ashes had ever been removed. The kids had a blast jumping off the 2 story deck into the water. And it was great that the owner allowed us to use his boat lift for our boat. We would have had to put it in and take out daily which takes away alot of our fun time. It was plenty big enough for all of us and we really did have a good time. Not sure if I'd rent this same house again. Maybe if problems are fixed. :)

Owner response:I am a collector of video games and have 4 full size games in the game room. These games are old and are considered antiques and although I do allow my guest to enjoy them, at times they do break, however, I make every effort to have these games repaired and in working condition for all guest to enjoy. I have never had problems with the neon lights and after reading the comment I checked them out and although the light switches were on, the games needed to be plugged in to work. I encourage my guest to unplug everything in the house upon leaving except for the washer, dryer, refrigerator and oven to insure an electrical short or outage does not cause a power surge. The juke box has always worked well, however, it had a blown fuse in it and it has been repaired. The dart board sometimes gets dart tips caught in it and this causes the game not to keep score, however, you can still play the game, you just need to manually keep the score. The slot machines and the margarita machine also worked fine once they were plugged in. After checking out the receiver in the gameroom, it was found to be bad and I will need to replace it. As for the kitchen and gameroom floor and counter tops being dirty, I check everything myself before each guest and encourage them to call me with any problems and I will come out or have the maids come and take care of any issues they may have. I have also replaced the outside grill with a Trio, meaning a gas and charcoal grill with a single burner on one end and a smoker on the other. The home has alot of added extras and these items do tend to break and need repairs from time to time. I am always just a phone call away and about 20 minutes from the house. If any guest ever has a problem or a situation that requires attention I encourage them to call and I can come out or send a professional to fix the problem as the house also comes with a full service warranty and a tech can be dispatched and on location within 24 hours.

Great House

We rented this house for the Christmas & New Year's Holiday. There were 3 generations gathered and what a wonderful time we had! This home offered something for everyone regardless of age. The gameroom was awesome for the kids as well as the adults, we were all able to have fum and even have some competative matches. The fishing was pretty good also, despite the cold weather. Our 10 yr old granddaughter, Marielle, caught 3 good size catfish and a pretty nice bass. The cell phone and ipod reception was good so our 12 yr old granddaughter, Taylor was in her element. The views are breathtaking and the sun rise is a sight to behold! If the opportunity arises we would definitly stay here again...The owner was very cordial and always helpfull.....

Vacation house was great. Kids loved the gameroom, great fishing, and fabulous views. It was a relaxing, worry free vacation from the moment we opened the door to see the beautiful view of the lake from the living room until we went home, Mike was a great help and always available for any questions. "All I can say is this was a great place to vacation for 9 days the kids had fun in the game room and I got the overhead projector to work with the DVD player. All you have to do is turn the projector on and hit play on the DVD player and DVD/VIDEO button on the receiver to get the sound to the speakers. You will catch catfish in the boat stall with Magic bait dough bait and Magic Bait STICK IT punch bait these fish are in the 18-23 in range. BIG BREAM 8-9 inches all day on pieces of night crawlers. Bass are under cover in the early morning on the left side under the bulkhead just use a beatle spin or other type of spinner bait they will come out and grab it lol. I used a Green crappie light at night in the boat stall and the fish did come:) the 6th night a lot of catfish showed up but they are spooked easily. I did see crappie feeding one night but didnt have minnows. Mike is a great guy and was very helpful. "

This place was very suitable for an organizational retreat. We stayed in doors because of the heat and it was nice. The house had many games and activities to keep amused and it was clean. We had a great time and I would recommend this place to anybody looking to have a good time with friends or any sort of retreat.

Where do I start? Well I would like to speak for our group because they are still talking about it. It will be a memovry that will stay with us forever!! The house is AWESOME!! I have told so many friends and they all want to rent it (word of mouth is the best way to advertise). It was big enough that we were not running all over each other. The kids (and grownups) THOUROUGHLY enjoyed the game room!! It was like being at a whole different fun facility didn't even think you were in a house. And the diving board into the lake was really cool!! The house was very clean and anytime I had a question or didn't know how to turn the hot tub on (LOL) Mike always was very responsive and helpful! All I can say is rent it, you will be totally satisfied.!! I know we will rent it again (and again and...)!!

Awesome Lakehouse

This lake house was the best decision we could have made for our weekend. We had 10 teenagers in this house, the weekend started out stormy and we still had a wonderful time! The gameroom was perfect for the kids to hand out and enjoy themselves the house was sound proof so we didn't disturb the neighbors and we could sit in the living room and watch the kids tubing with the boats right behind the house! You can need beat this awesome house! Not to even mention how wonderful Mike was to rent from! Don't miss out on your chance for a wonderful lake experience!!
