I've booked the Hawaiian Oasis for my wedding entourage in October, and on my one trip out to Kona last month I wanted to take a "sneak peek" of the property during my stay. Needless to say, the estate took our breath away and we think it will be perfect for our family and friends. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property, we knew we made the right choice is booking the estate. Dan (the caretaker) was extremely helpful and a wonderful guide. Everything from the landscaping to the details of the rooms exceeded every expectation we had. Every single room has it's own personality and it shows just how much thought and love went into designing the estate. My fiancee is actually from Big Island, and he does get a little irrate when he feels that a property is overdoing it with the Hawaiiana style of decor - but not with this estate! He loved every part of the estate - from the framed music sheets in the Music Room to the foliage on the property. He was left speechless. The common room is quite large and the kitchen is amazing! There is plenty of parking, and Dan even showed us all of the beach gear that we are allowed to use. The outdoor kitchen (and even an outdoor shower!) is perfect (complete with grill and fridge) for lazy nights by the tiki-lit pool. I cannot wait for our friends and family to see it - it's going to take a miracle for me to not tell them how much of a treat they are in for. We look forward to our stay there in October!
Owner response:Mahalo nui loa Melanie for sharing with us and our guests your "breathtaking" introduction to the Hawaiian Oasis! Our joy is full to hear of your appeciation of all those elements that make the Hawaiian Oasis the extraordinary estate that we love to share with our guests. We too are looking foward with great excitement to your wedding celebration ... with Aloha! Peter & Darla, Dan and Theresa

The Estate is beautiful and immaculate and even better than the pictures can describe. We rented the estate for a party of 16 well seasoned travelers/vistiors from all corners of the the USA and some from Mexico. Everyone was really impressed and pleased with the space, beauty and comfort of the property. Choosing The Big Island (Kona) for our family vacation and celebrations proved to be the best choice for us given the wide range of aquatic and non aquatic activities available for our diverse group of 21-73 year olds. The Big Island attractions for all and the ideal location of the Hawaiian Oasis made our vacation as stress free as possible. The Oasis was a magnificant place to return to after a long day, or simply stay in and do nothing. The outdoor kitchen and pool/bar area are perfect for reunions after a long day out on the Island. Our onsite estate keeper (Dan-O) was extremely helpful and always available when needed. We found everything in the estate to our satisfaction and as advertised. Whether you need to rest and rejuvinate of or have the adventure of your life, this place has it all within arms reach. The Hawaiian Oasis is a very special place.
Owner response:Aloha Richard! It's great to hear that the Hawaiian Oasis was the perfect place for your group and had everything for everyone across three generations. Mahalo! Peter and Darla, Dan-o and Theresa

I rented the Hawaiian Oasis for my 50th birthday celebration with friends and family. We had 3 couples and 7-8 women who came to relax, play, tour, adventure, golf and share special times. Memorable outings were kayaking, snorkeling, volcanoes, beaching, golfing. Memorable Oasis happenings included the ceremony - including a two-piece band and heart-felt moments, a kahlua cake, champagne; cooking 2-hour Ahi and 1-hour Ono from the Bite Me fish market; hot-tubbing; a rousing tennis match; and going through a lot of papayas and good wine. The Oasis had a wonderful vibe that allowed everyone to open their hearts and enjoy. And we were blessed with the most wonderful inkeeper, Dan-O, who's caring spirit made every day special and who added much to our celebration and our experience. Peter and Darla were so kind with the reservations. I've already recommended the place to others, and everytime I show the pictures, people gape at the beauty of the place. The whole experience was so unbelievably perfect, and I dearly hope someday to return again.

This was a wonderful house and we are very picky. The garden is filled with exotic plants, a beautiful pool, hot tub and tennis courts. The house is staffed with everything you can think of. There were 15 all family members and we never felt in each others space. Dano was a wealth of information and help advice us on the best way to do our outings. If I get to go back, and I reall hope I do , I would restay here. One other thing to consider when comparing properties is which side of the island you want to be on. This is the side and the location was convenient to everything.

We rented the entire Oasis for our son & daughter-in-law's wedding at the end of June. It could not have been more perfect! They were married on a beach and we held the reception at the Oasis. The setting was perfect! The tiki bar is really an extended kitchen and the extra regular size fridge came in handy to store the reception foods. Our son's chef buddies did the food, and they said the kitchen in the house was well equipped for their needs. (They especially liked the gas cook top!) We set up 5 large round tables, head table, food buffet, and 2-person band in the lawn area behind the tiki bar. There was room for several more tables if we had needed them. We had 5 couples in the bedrooms, plus used the pull out in the music room. No one ever felt cramped. All our questions were quickly answered either by one of the owners, or the innkeeper. The photos of the grounds are beautiful, but it is better in person! We would recommend this property to anyone!

This is a dream house! We definitely want to come back. The place is beautifully decorated and furnished. Spotlessly clean. Pool and jacuzzi were perfect. And the outdoor barbeque and the tiki bar just completed the picture of Hawaii paradise. Great big kitchen with lots of cooking utensils. The property owner was super helpful in answering our questions.
Owner response:Mahalo Perla! We're very happy to have been your hosts, and look forward to your return to the Hawaiian Oasis! Peter and Darla

My fiance and I and our family rented the entire Hawaiian Oasis for our wedding, and it was absolutely perfect. The whole house was clean and beautiful, and the landscaping is spectacular - literally like an "Oasis". Matt, the caretaker is fun and easygoing and is a fantastic cook. In fact, he helped cater our wedding reception! He assembled the most beautiful fruit platters with exotic tropical fruits, and bbq'd a variety of meats for us. For everything else, he directed us to Costco, and helped with the shopping list (btw, Costco has delicious hawaiian food!). We got married on the beach, and planned an informal wedding reception at the Oasis around the Tiki Bar. It was the perfect setting. Matt set up tiki torches for us and helped the band set-up on the lawn ("Aloha In Motion", also highly recommended!). I don't think we could have asked for better! My entire family is still talking about how beautiful the Oasis was and how special it made our event.

From our tripadvisor comments-July 2010 “Skip the expensive, impersonal resorts, this place is awesome" I stayed here with my extended family in the days before and after my wedding in early July. The property is beautiful (actually even better than the web page makes it look). My wedding photographer went crazy taking pictures of the grounds. It's quiet and cozy. Darla, the owner, is sweet and accommodating. Her breakfasts are great (something different every day!). The garden/pool/outdoor bar/tennis courts were so helpful in giving family members something to do while I worked on logistics, and for hanging out in the evenings. Great value for money. Really a gem.

From Tripadvisor guest comments- 5 stars "Hard to even put into words...Magical maybe?" 5 stars My family rented out the entire Hawaiian Oasis home for a week, and the experience is just hard to put into words. I can't decide if the home or the grounds were more beautiful. I loved the airy feel that the home had because it is designed for windows and doors to be open, and the fresh breeze throughout the entire house was a treat for us city-dwellers. We all felt "one with nature." The atrium in the house is so marvelous that I had to buy more house plants when I got home! All of the decorations in the home were of such quality, and the kitchen was also well stocked for our cooking throughout the week. The entire place was well thought out for an unforgettable stay (for example they provide Hawaiian music in every room). They provide beach and snorkeling gear which could have potentially saved us a lot of money if we actually left the house! Everybody really liked the innkeeper - he kept the place looking beautiful, he minded our privacy yet wasn't a stranger, and he was able to answer any questions about the area that we had. I would hands down recommend this place to anybody. It is truly a good value per night because of the wonderful amenities that are provided could easily add up else wise. I hope to return to this home someday!

from Tripadvisor guest comments- 5 stars "Favorite Big Island B&B. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!" We spent 5 nights at the Hawaiian Oasis B&B and have nothing but wonderful things to say about this beautiful home and the wonderful hospitality. Our room was enormous with a private living area, an updated bath with big tub, tasteful furnishings, and a private lanai. The waterfall outside our room was very peaceful. The breakfasts were fabulous and different every morning. The friendly host was extremely knowledgeable about the island and was a great resource for island activities and restaurants. We took advantage of the outdoor kitchen and cooked in most nights beside the pool beneath the stars.

from our Tripadvisor guest comments- 5 stars "Simply Excellent" Stayed at Hawaiian Oasis for 3 nights, and had a wonderful time. Upon checkin hosts were there to meet us, and took us for an in depth tour of the rooms, the common area, and the property which includes a swimming pool, hottub, and an outdoor kitchen/bbq area which came in very handy. Rooms are all beautiful, and expecially large. The common area features a sitting room with an extensive collection of books on the area, and Hawaii overall, which are all at your disposal. Not to mention a very nice oceanview. Breakfast was served at 8:30 each morning, and could be slightly tailored to meet your your schedule. It was delicious and plentiful each day. Especially important to note this is a hot breakfast, and not just a fruitplate and a bagel as so many B&B's are. You will not leave this table hungry. The words 'I'll keep making if you keep eating were said on a number of ocassions. The propery itself is a quick 5 min drive to the oceanfront drive in Kona, and is a great place to base yourself out of while on the big island. The hosts were always more than ready to offer information on the area, your activities, and offer equipment such as beach towels, and coolers for your day. They enjoy engaging with their guests, and it shows. I personally enjoyed interacting with them. I would return in a heartbeat!

From Tripadvisor guest comments- 5 stars "Loved it- This is the real Hawaii" My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights over New Year's in the Garden Suite which was just so lovely. Darla and Peter, our hosts, met us upon arrival and showed us around. They are really great and so full of helpful information about the Island and Kona. Having stayed in Waikiki, Kaanapali in Maui and then coming to The Big Island, we were just so blown away by the natural beauty, abundant wildlife and friendly hospitality. Hawaiian Oasis is located 5 mins drive from the town of Kona so it's great if you have a car, to escape the main section of town and wake to birds singing rather than traffic noise or rowdy hotel guests. The grounds are manicured and lush and the rooms are spotless and very well kept. But the most amazing part was the cooked breakfast! Banana pancakes with fresh tropical fruit one day, warm upsidedown pineapple muffins with honey butter they next, honestly the best food we had the whole time in Hawaii. Also the Tiki bar by the pool with BBQ area made for a fabulous NYE celebration!! I can highly recommend this place for people who want to get away from the tourist trap and experience the real hawaii. This is it!

from Tripadvisor guest comments- 5 stars "Phenominal place to stay!" The Oasis is beautiful, large, accomodating, and beneficial for a corporate and family retreat vacation. We took our corporate executive committee and immediate families and performed our annual planning conference.... During our meetings, our families went to the beach, shopping, snorkeling, and exploring. Our meetings were held in the large living room and at the tiki bar. Our executives were in swimsuits and went for frequent dips in the pool and hot tub during 15-minute breaks. Each of the executives/families had a suite and bathroom. The best part? Matt!!!... the person who takes care of the Oasis and cooks your "break-feasts"...a wonderful chef! We had variety in the food, from breakfast burritos to eggs, portugese sausage and croissants. We always had fresh tropical fruit for breakfast. This included kiwi, mango, three varieties of papaya, star fruit, oranges.... It was fun to sit at the granite bar and watch Matt perform! He taught us about health (he was a personal trainer for The Biggest Loser TV show) as he cooked. His little dog was a fun addition and he entertained the kids with balls! The Oasis is clean and spacious. Despite having 13 people, we never felt crowded. The koi pond at the front door, with the waterfall, are peaceful. I walked every morning in the safe tropical neighborhood. After walking, I swam in the pool. This ritual was one of the highlights for me personally. The bathrooms are large and the plumbing works well. There is an elaborate lighting system in the home so mood lights can be turned on for evenings...plenty of parking in a circular driveway with a huge macadamia nut tree near the entrance. We cracked lots of fresh mac nuts that had fallen in the grass. We loved the dishes at the house so much that we bought a set of 12 plates and bowls...now, we think of the Oasis every evening as we enjoy dinner on the same style of plates that were there. We are amending our family strategic plan to purchase a home on the Big Island similar to the Oasis. You will enjoy the clean, spacious rooms with all-cotton Hawaiian bedding. You will love Matt, his dog, and the food he prepares for you each morning. You will love the pool, beds, baths, tiki bar, and hot tub. You will appreciate... the secure feeling of the neighborhood. Most of all, the aloha spirit is alive and well at the Oasis and you will write a review one day that glows more than this one!

from our Tripadvisor guest comments- 5 stars "No place like this place..." My wife and I returned from Kona last week (8/9/09) and we stayed at the Hawaiian Oasis B&B. I’ll start by just saying it was great! The Oasis has all the very lush, tropical foliage that one would expect (and more) from Hawaii and is just beautiful. If Hawaii has a feel, I think we found it here at the Oasis and I’m not bs-ing you. We stayed in the Aloha room for 7 nights and it is off the hook great! We looked at the other rooms and they are all very nice as well. The whole place is just very well taken care of and has a very nice feel when wandering around the lushness of the place. When we came back after a hard day of snorkeling and just goofing around the island...we gorged ourselves on the views of all the surrounding tropical foliage and of the ocean from the rooms lanai. The Oasis is an easy 5 minute or so drive into old Kona with all its restaurants and shops. Its also in what we considered an excellent location for getting everywhere, especially all the fantastic and un-crowded beaches. The beaches on this side of the island are just over the top beautiful and great for swimming , snorkeling and just plain kicking back. Getting back to the Oasis, the whole place is just straight-up nice and, well, so Hawaiian vacation like...usually up very early in the mornings...sip our Kona coffee on the lanai, grab some fruit and...we were out, off to enjoy the rest of the island, only to look forward to returning to the Oasis in late afternoon or evening...One of our favorite routines while there: After a day of snorkeling, swimming, 4WDing to get to some outrageous beaches...we’d stop off at the Harbor House (Honokohau Harbor) before retuning to the Oasis which is about 10 minutes away. Once there, we’d tip a couple of ice cold thick glass 18 oz. goblets of beer (only $3.) The food there is pretty good too. Cheers to the good life! I’m sure you could tell we’re pretty jazzed up about this place and Kona in general, we really enjoyed it. This was our third trip to Kona and hopefully we’ll be able to venture there again next year.

Let me first begin by saying WOW! We wanted to let you know that our stay at the Hawaiian Oasis was INCREDIBLE, everything we could ever imagine. And the wedding went perfect as planned. We just wanted to thank the owners, for allowing us to hold our wedding at their beautiful home. As we said earlier, everything went perfect, from the beautifully up kept landscape to the awesome swimming pool, and not to mention the hot tub!! And the caretaker service was also incredible. Thank you again and we will defiantly refer this home and your website to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay when visiting Hawaii.

Peter, thank you so much for letting us stay the 1 night in the plumeria suite. Your home is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! Bob was so nice and welcoming. The palms were amazing. It was a very special night for us. 2 months ago, we came to Hawaii to take a cruise and our dog of 13 years passed away while we were gone, and we were devastated. I then became sick and was taking tylenol cold and flu. I also get sea sick, so I put on a patch. I apparently had a drug interaction and became deathly sick, the doctor on the boat said she wanted me to go to the ER. We decided to call it quits and fly home. We were supposed to be celebrating our 15th anniversary. We got home and we were able to grieve and me get well and decied to try it again, but no boats this time. This was the best trip we ever had, we experienced some unique amazing things along the way, and I must say, we will never forget our stay with you, it was the highlight of our trip and it made the wait to celebrate our anniversay so worth it. Thank you so much for allowing us that opportunity at something we would never have been able to experience!

We could not have been any more delighted with the Oasis. And it truly is an Oasis in Paradise. What could be better? We booked a year in advance because our daughter was having her wedding at one of the resorts. But the Oasis is also a perfect place for a weddding. We wanted a place that people could come an hang out during the wedding week, and the Oasis was excellent for that. Everyone was taken by the beautiful gardens and the private and relaxing atmosphere. While we didn't get to meet the owners, Darla and Peter were very good to work with via email. And the place more than lived up to our expectations!

Our immediate family stayed at the Hawaiian Oasis property from March 30/07 to April 8/07. There were 12 in our party--a 4 month old, a 4 year old, a 12 year old, and a 14 year old as well as 8 adults. We were very impressed with the house, grounds and seclusion of the place. Besides the spaciousness, the pool, tiki bar, and tennis court were all our favorites. We brought tennis rackets and balls but there were some on site, so forget about packing yours unless you are pro-statis (we are very much novices so the equipment on site would have been just fine). The landscaping and grounds are awesome, and until we were playing tennis, we were not aware there were any houses nearby--we never saw or heard the neighbors. Laundry facilities were on site and with the amount of people and the length of our stay it came in handy. I can honestly say, there was nothing that could be better. If anyone would like any further information, feel free to contact me.

Our family, all 15 of us,spent 7 wonderful days at the Oasis in Dec.2006 celebrating our 50th year of marriage. We had the entire complex to ourselves which made for a very "fun" time for adults and children. The surroundings were quiet and peaceful--away from traffic and noise and multitudes of other people as one would have at a hotel or other type of resort complex. The large living area made a great indoor place to get together but the pool, Tiki bar and tennis court were the favorite places. Cooking facilities were excellent and we ate most of our meals at the Oasis. This is particularly useful for childrens' tastes and is much more cost-efficient than eating out. All in all, it was an excellent experience and we would not hesitate to recommend it to friends or relatives.
