The Nantahala National Forest surrounds this custom-designed, one-of-a kind, log cabin sitting on the edge of FIRE'S CREEK RECREATIONAL AREA. Every inch of this cabin was touched by a third generation woodworker. Logs were hand planed. Hardwood floors were hand polished. Wooden accents of cedar, walnut, cherry, and rhododendron were added throughout the house.
The cabin is centered on a four-acre lot which has beem certified by the University of Georgia Research Center as an APPALACHIAN BIOLOGICAL NATIVE SANCTUARY. The cabin grounds include a natural spring and flowing branch. A walking trail winds aroung the property and leads to the crystal clear native trout waters of Fires Creek just one hundred yards down the road. Three walking bridges on the cabin property cross over the rippling branch to the natural spring. The natural forest floor has been preserved to protect the native wildflowers, trees, and bushes. Ferns and mushrooms abound. Blackberries and elderberries ripen in season. Birds fill the woods. Stars twinkle in the dark night skies. The PEACE AND QUIET surround you while you rock on the porch, hike the trails,or fish the creeks.
The renown native trout waters of Fire's Creek and the Rim Trail are minutes away. Mountain communities of Hayesville and Brasstown are ten minutes away. Murphy and Hiwassee are 30 minutes down the road. The cabin is easily accessed on paved roads, but the setting gives you the feel of being deep in the woods. The natural beauty awakens your senses.

We had a wonderful, peaceful weekend! It was great to get away from blackberries, cell phones and the constant demands of life! Your cabin so peaceful. We never saw a car! By the way, thank you for the information on bluebirds. We plan to get a box for our yard in Tallahassee. You have been great hosts! We hope to be back!!!

We have had a wonderful time staying in your cabin. While Jim was away at the Folk School, we explored the surrounding area and even got to make snowballs while we were here. It is a beautiful relaxing place. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This week went by way too fast. We really enjoyed the FIRE FLY show every night. Fires Creek was a joy to visit and hike. The rocks there are beautiful. The cabin is a two story work of art. You two are truly artists. Thanks. P.S. I found the Keebler tree. Tallahassee, FLA

Being here is like going back home in VA a long time ago... but not so long in my mind. This has been a dream for which I never thought would come true. Thank God for special places like this. Also, thank you for sharing it with others. I have really enjoyed our visit and will have many memories to take back to GA. Hope to one day come back and visit again.... yep... a little of heaven in NC. Thank you and God Bless this place. Kennesaw, GA
