Location: Big Bear Lake, Big Bear, Inland Empire, California, USA (2 Hours from Los Angeles/3 hours to San Diego)

Accommodations:  House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths (Sleeps 8)

Our three-story home is beautifully decorated, fully furnished, has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and sleeps up to 8 people. It has a large spacious living area with tongue n' groove knotty pine decor, lofted ceilings and a magnificent fireplace for that true mountain experience. There is also a deck off of the living room, where you might like to enjoy your morning coffee and watch Big Bear's wildlife.

The kitchen is fully equipped for all your culinary needs. Linens and towels are provided and the beds are already made upon your arrival.

This is the perfect mountain getaway for a large family or two families that would like to spend some time together exploring the wonderful mountains, scenery and village of Big Bear Lake.

The house is in a great location for families, we are a 10 minute walk to Alpine slide at Magic Mountain. This is a recreation area which is open year-round and has lots to offer from the water slide, mini golf and go karts in the summer to the snow play and toboggan in the winter. The children will have a great time and they will not want to leave.

We are also close to the village, about a 5 minute drive or a 20-30 minute walk where there are lots of shops to buy souvenirs and great restaurants which offer fast food to fine dining.

For those exciting winter weekends and holidays, we are 2 miles from skiing/snowboarding at either Snow Summit or Bear Mountain , which has some great views of the lake from the top.

  • Our family stayed in the Welsh Big Bear cabin over Presidents day weekend 2009. we all had a great time playing cards and one marathon monopoly game that lasted until early morning. The cable TV in the living room had every channel imagineable, but we chose to just 'hang out'. the cabin was VERY clean and comfortable, accomodating all 8 of us. the one thing that surprised me was that it didn't feel like a rental cabin, but more like borrowing a friend's cabin. there were extra blankets, towels and the kitchen was better equiped than ours at home. The cabin was also easily accessable with parking for one car in the garage and 1 or 2 in the driveway. All in all it was a great weekend and we look forward to staying here again.

  • The location for this Big Bear Lake Rental was great! It's near to everything that we needed. The house was just nice for our family. THe children enjoyed the games, toys, and movies that they found from the house. We had a marvelous time and would love to come back in the near future.

  • I vacation at least once a year (or more) in Big Bear and by far this is the one of the best cabin I stayed at. Compared to the pictures and description, my expectation exceeded when we first arrived. It snowed the weekend we went, so the views from the top floors were beautiful! The house was stock with all the basic amenities to accommodate any type of family. Thank you to the Hughes for making our first snow experience so memorable!

As soon as we walked in we all felt at-home and it has plenty of rooms which is the best part. We didn't have snow but we got to check out lots of places and had a wonderful time.   • I visited the Welsh home with six other Moms who needed a weekend getaway. We had an amazing time, and we absolutely loved staying in this house. It is clean, roomy, convenient and has so much 'cabin character'. It would be wonderful for 2 families, as well, plenty of room for lots of kids! Also, the owners have created an extremely informative and helpful book of maps, local restaurants and shopping, skiing and other activities. That was great! I would definitely like to stay in the house again.

  • What a great place to get away from the stress of city life! I really enjoyed the comfy accomodations and the relaxed atmosphere, and my 7-year-old son had a great time sledding. There's hardly a day where he isn't asking when we can go back again!
