My husband, lab and I had a great vacation and stay at the high hammock villa. Our favorite part and reason will will return is the close proximity to the beach! There are plenty of places to eat within a short distance and everyone within the community is friendly. I would definitely recommend this villa to anyone especially if you have a dog. Fat Hen was by far the most recommend restaurant we came across when asking the locals. (The mussels are amazing and another reason we will rent from this location.)

Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner response: Working with this guest was a pleasure. They appear to have taken advantage of Seabrook's Island's amenities and did some fun exploring, including getting those recommendations from the locals on the Fat Hen, which really is well-worth the trip . . . and those mussels are awesome! We certainly hope they come back again!

Our first introduction to this very exclusive private island was at the entry gate. Please note that this community does not roll out the welcome mat for renters. When we arrived, we discovered that, for unexplained reasons, my name did not appear in the database of "authorized guests." The 20-something gate attendees indicated that this was my problem to deal with. I had to request that they call the owner, which they did begrudgingly. They also said that perhaps I should check with the amenities/real estate office, to see if I appeared in their database. When I asked if they could call that office on my behalf, they said that they "don't have any connection to that office" and I would need to go there myself. Long story short, after 45 minutes, we were finally granted admission on a one-day basis. We were informed that if the gate staff did not hear from the owner in that time, we would be asked to leave. (The owner contacted the staff later in the day.) If you rent this condo - be sure to ask the owner to call the front gate on the morning of your arrival, to make certain that your name is on the authorized entry list. When we entered the condo, we were greeted by a pile of dirty sheets and towels, somehow overlooked by the maid service. Needing bedding for the queen-size bed, we washed the linen ourselves. For all of the first day's inconveniences, we received a $15 bottle of wine as compensation. the condo is comfortable and nicely decorated. Biking around the island and walking on the beach were pleasurable activities. In the winter, don't bother with the amenities passes (which require an $11 deposit) unless you want to use the fitness center. This island has no heated in-door pools or any Jacuzzis. Proximity to Charleston is a nice feature. I would advise buying your groceries before you get to Seabrook. the grocery store at the shopping center between Seabrook and Kaiwah islands is outrageously expensive.

Owner response: Let me say that I am sorry that this renter’s experience was not what she would have liked it to be. Seabrook Island, like Kiawah Island and Hilton Head Island, is an upscale gated, private club community and not a tourist haven like Myrtle Beach. The gates at all three are secure for the residents and guests and provide a high degree of privacy for residents and guests. When I found out about the problem at the gate, I called and made sure that this renter did, in fact, have a gate pass for the duration of the stay. The system said that she did, but there appears to have been some glitch at the gate itself. The “20-something” gate attendee could have lost her job by granting a temporary pass, but did note that this renter did have a Seabrook Island Club Amenities Access Pass and, therefore, did grant a temporary pass. There was an error on the part of the property management company about the sheets. I spoke with the renter who assured me that it wasn’t a problem & that they would wash them. Nevertheless, I had the property management company dispatch a representative to apologize and see if there was anything else that could be done – and their representative took a bottle of wine and glasses to the renter. As for the Seabrook Island Club Amenities Access Pass, most people want/like it, because it is needed to have access of the Club’s restaurants, to golf, to play tennis, to use the equestrian center or to use the Lake House that does have an indoor heated pool and an exercise center. Fees for various services, activities, meals and other purchases are the responsibility of the access pass holder. The Seabrook Island Club does require a nominal deposit to have the pass. This is refunded after the pass is turned back into the Club. It, also, requires that the person who has the pass have a credit card on file with the Club for purchases used with the access pass – or the access pass holder may pay with something else, but a credit card on file is required like at Kiawah Island and Hilton Head. This is a very common practice with this kind of gated club community. As for the grocery store in the Fresh Fields center, this facility has only been available for about 4 years and is about as expensive as a Harris Teeter store found in many places in the South. Again, I am sorry that things didn’t turn out the way this renter had hoped. We tried to help correct things as quickly as possible . . . and we thought we did prior to this review

The villa is just as described - quiet, comfy, clean, and roomy. The photos are accurate and the owner was easy to work with, offering information about favorite restaurants and attractions in the area. Extra bath near the entry is a great idea for quick clean up. We took our 2 small dogs, who loved walking on the beach. We saw a beautiful deer behind the condo one morning, as well as a coyote the next morning, so don't let your pets out alone!

We try to give our guests as much information about our villa and the area as we can, including places to eat where we have actually eaten. We do accept pets and we enjoy hearing how they enjoyed the stay nearly as much as the people - they are family, too! This couple shared a photo of the deer they saw in the morning. This terrific and we loved the pic & feedback!

We have now stayed at this villa twice and both were quite pleasant experiences. The most recent was a semi-last minute decision to stay at Seabrook and the owner was very accommodating, as he had been for our first visit. The place fit our needs perfectly and it had everything we needed to make our stay quite blissful. The location is ideal for a wonderful Seabrook experience. I cannot think of a single recommendation that would make the place more accommodating. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

We replaced the heat pump/air conditioning today to keep the place in tip-top shape in that area. Take care & have a wonderful fall/winter! John

My husband and I, two of our friends, and 2 of our dogs had a fantastic 4th of July weekend on Seabrook Island. This condo made it all possible! I can't believe we were able to stay in such a nice place for such a great price. We really appreciated being able to book by the night as our vacation days were limited. The condo is close to all of the amenities of Seabrook Island. To top it all off, we were able to walk right out the back patio door onto the golf course and we had the best spot on the island to view the fireworks. Thanks John!

The pictures don't do justice to the villa. It provided the perfect getaway for my family...including our furry family members. It was roomier than I had anticipated, and everything that we needed was there! The villa also was well-maintained and clean. I can't wait to go back!

We were really happy with this little condo! The place was spacious, pet friendly (not many breakables), and had easy access to many of the islands features. We rented bikes, went to the beach, ate at many of the local restaurants. The owner was great--easy to communicate with and contact. The price was great. It's always easy to get to Charleston. But we only spend one day there, as the area has the most amazing restaurants. We highly encourage folks to visit the local market and the Rosebanks Farm Cafe and Farm. Great food--fun choices. We recommend this property especially to folks with pets! Had a great kitchen, we found most everything quite easily. My only comment that doesn't make this place "great" was that sheets on the bed were a little itchy to me--I'm spoiled and use really soft sheets. I would go again and bring my own, and I think this place would be perfect.

Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Fran & John grew up in Maryland. Since 2006, we reside year round on Front Range in Northern Colorado. We have vacationed in the 'Low Country' and beaches of South Carolina all our married life together. Fran's family has roots deep in the Charleston area. This photo was taken at Middleton Place Plantation, the site of the oldest formal gardens in North America about 20 minutes from our villa.

Why the Owner Chose High Hammock Villas:
We fell in love with Seabrook Island for its wonderful & uncrowded beaches, opportunities to play golf on its two outstanding courses and its proximity to Fran's family and the historical and beautiful areas in and around Charleston.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
You will be living a premier country club, gated community life style on the beach in the heart of one of most historic places in North America.
