Location: Paris Arrondissement 7, Paris, Ile-de-France (Paris Area), France, Europe

Accommodations:  Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Library, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-5)

My sisters and I looked long and hard for this elegant, spacious (1150 sq. feet) gem in the best part of Paris, and we were overjoyed when we found it. Our stone courtyard building is beautiful and secure, and located on a quiet shopping street, steps from the famous Café de Flore and Les Deux Magots. On your doorstep are Prada, Yves St. Laurent, Bruno Magli, and other premium boutiques, not to mention one of the best bakeries in Paris.

The elevator, handy for luggage as the apartment is 1 flight up, is charmingly old world. You will love the apartment's parquet floors, crown mouldings, high ceilings, marble, gilt, and lush designer fabrics. In addition to the 2 double bedrooms, the cozy, round library provides a comfortable and private sleeping space with a cleverly designed day bed that transforms effortlessly into a double bed.

The apartment was painstakingly renovated and then decorated in a comfortable, but classic French style. Original paintings adorn the walls. We have several pieces of antique furniture from the famous Parisian flea market, the Marché aux Puces. The wrought iron, four-poster bed in the Master bedroom was specially designed for us, as was the stained glass, and several other of the apartment's finer details.

Both bedrooms are lovely and spacious, and each contains a marble fireplace and a large gilded mirror. The freshly remodeled kitchen is fully-equipped, modern and functional, with a tumbled marble floor, custom-designed cabinetry, and Venetian glass fixtures.

    • We stayed in this apartment in Sept '09 for four nights. It was an amazing experience! The apartment was well appointed and spacious. It has a perfect blend of classical features and modern amenities. The location couldn't have been more perfect. It's two-minute walk away from St. Germain/Cafe de Flore and 15-minute walk from Notre Dame. Excellent grocery stores and bakeries in the neighborhood. Clothing boutiques right next to the building! Best of all, the owners were so helpful and responsive to any of our requests to ensure our stay in Paris was nothing but like being at home. Next year, we would stay a whole week!

    • We spent a lovely weekend in Paris and at this apartment in July 2009. The apartment is wonderful, very spacious, well-equipped with two great sitting areas, a dining area and very useful kitchens. I loved the feel of the place -- peaceful and restful, with lots of European charm and elegance. It's within walking distance of everything and surrounded by a number excellent restaurants, cafes and shops (shoe shops!). We enjoyed picking up food at the local markets and preparing our own dinners in the apartment with lovely French music playing and the huge windows wide open. I dream about it still, that wonderful feeling of being in a place and feeling so at home -- as if I lived there! Enjoy!!

    • To Whom it May Concern: A most wonderful stay was enjoyed by my dear friends and I when we had the pleasure of renting the Grenelle apartment for a week long stay in Paris. Impeccably decorated with beautiful furnishings, original artwork, and elegant but comfortable furniture; it was like staying in a first class hotel suite and yet having all of the conveniences of home. The apartment is in a quiet and exclusive residential area, however you are centrally located, fabulous shopping, dining and sight seeing are all close by. The apartment proved to be the perfect locale for a "ladies get away" to Paris and would be equally well suited for a couple or family with mature children. I look forward to returning and would offer my highest recommendation to those considering this property. All best, Jennifer S. Farrow Los Angeles, CA

    • I first visited the apartment with four close friends in the winter of 2004. We savored the authenticity of the Parisian experience living in "the 7th" with its beauty, character, fine restaurents and designer shopping. For evenings at home, we found delicious delicacies of cheese, chocolate, fruit, pastries, meats, and gorgeous flowers on the surrounding narrow, crooked, cobblestone streets. One of us even "tested" a chocolate displayed on a silver tray. Those are not for tasting! This was a funny and expensive lesson for the five of us. Nevertheless, I recommend the apartment with Five Shining Stars. It is truly exquisite and in a location that feels like old Paris, not touristy, while close to the metro and important sites that all travelers will want to experience. I look forward to returning to 18 Rue de Grenelle!

    • I would very highly recommend this apartment, or better stated, HOME, in the most wonderful part of Paris. From the moment you step in you realize you are somewhere very special. Impeccably appointed by one of the owners who is an interior designer. At the end of each day we were torn between eating in one of the many small cafes located conveniently near the apartment, or going 'home' and just relaxing in what feels truly like somewhere you would want to live. I will absolutely return. Because this is a beautiful place, I do not recommend that you take anyone who will not appreciate and care for your beautiful surroundings.

    • My first visit to the apartment was four years ago. I have returned several times. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and elegant. Its location provides easy access to great shopping, wonderful restaurants and the Metro. Traveling alone has never been an issue in this quiet, safe neighborhood. After many visits, it has come to feel like home.
