Year Purchased: 2005
I am Professor of Ophthalmolgy with over 40 year connection to Hawaii. I attended University of Hawaii Manoa campus, Honolulu, when there was only one University of Hawaii. I have owned a second home in Hawaii since 1984. I travel the world teaching my specialty including in China and Nepal every few months.
Why the Owner Chose Kehena
When I first walked on the property my mouth dropped open because it was so beautiful. Statues decorate the lawn and there are beautiful construction details such as hand carved doors from Bali.
The Unique Benefits of this Villa
The home is located 200 yards from Kehena black sand beach, which is visited by pods of spinner dolphins year round and pods of whales from about Thanksgiving to March. Less than four mile sdrive on same road is parking area where one can hike to view the current lava flow into the the ocean. A must see. There are many other sites such as hot ponds and geysers within a few minutes drive.
