  La Truffiere apartment at Le Diamont Noir is brand new and beautifully appointed, with lovely individual touches. It's just big enough for two, with a lovely private terrace. Colin and Sandra are wonderful hosts and the position is perfect; ten minute walk into the lovely village of Aups with its market, restaurants and shops, or 100 yards across the road to the supermarket for fresh bread for breakfast. We have to return, as we are two matches all in table tennis and three matches all in boule! It will not be a hardship; we simply adored it.

For those who have never been to Aups before- We are surrounded by hilltop villages,steeped in history, but Aups itself, has achieved the status of "village de caractère" So not only does it provide all amenities, you can stroll through history on our doorstep,following the tourist office's guided map which highlights and explains the points of interest, as you venture down the quaint old streets. Such a good place to have a coffee and watch the interesting local characters. La Truffière has been specially designed for 21st century living,and to provide a couple with a good base for exploring our region, and with a little touch of luxury for the times spent " at home". Pleased that you appreciated the finishin touches. We will look forward to welcoming you back.

  Un gîte absolument superbe, conforme en tous points au descriptif proposé ! Mieux même, j'allais oublier la bouteille de vin qui n'est pas sur les photos et que les propriétaires avaient posé sur la table pour notre arrivée ! Colin & Sandra sont très sympathiques et accueillants, à la fois désireux de répondre aux sollicitations ou besoins tout en restant très discrets. A 10 minutes à pied du centre du village, vous vous épargnerez le bouchon le jour de marché ! Et le gîte est également à une distance très raisonnable en voiture des fabuleuses gorges du Verdon (environ 25 kms). Et quand vous vous serez bien promenés sous la chaleur, vous apprécierez le calme de la piscine et la quiétude et l'ombre du parc ! Si vous hésitez...et bien n'hésitez plus ! Et vive l'Entente Cordiale Franco Britannique !!!

  Owner response: It is a great pleasure to welcome our guests from all over the world- and of course from France. Le Diamant Noir is ideally situated for the Gorges du Verdon and about an hour from the coast. July and August are busy monthsin our area, and Aups is truly bustling, especially on market days. the popularity has led to some very good stalls with a huge variety of local produce and crafts. It is great bonus to be able to go into the village on foot, with no need to find a parking space. Likewise the accommodaation is an easy walk back from town, after a night in the bars and restaurants! For those who prefer for things to be a little quieter, September abd October are lovely months and autumn is the Verdon is beautiful

  This holiday apartment is quite delightful and is provided with every possible convenience to make your stay comfortable and stress free. Its very tastefully decorated and makes a wonderful base to explore the surrounding areas of Provence. The owners Colin and Sandra are to be recommended for their warm welcome and hospitality and are always on hand to provide help and advice. In our case Sandra offered to return a dress my wife had bought so that on our departure day we did not need to take a long and time consuming deviation to our route home. Aups is a wonderful base to really get to know the beautiful surrounding villages and countryside and when you get back there is the large and inviting swimming pool waiting for you to enjoy. There is a well stocked supermarket within easy walking distance so that every catering need is easily provided. We spent a most pleasant week here and would certainly return and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone and if that was not enough we could listen to BBC radio 4 on the satellite TV system.

  I would definitely echo all the comments above. In addition, the apartment is a marvellous starting point for discovering the area by bicycle. There are rides for all levels of cycling – from small local rides to neighbouring villages of which Tourtour is a must, to longer dramatic rides around the magnificent Lac Saint Croix or adjacent Gorges du Verdon. The Bauxite route which runs near to Brignoles around the Lac de Carces is superb. If you prefer off-road cycling, there are some fantastic mountain bike trails in the adjacent woods and hillsides, often old, disused roads between villages – for instance Cotignac to Salernes – give you a glance of the countryside that few people see. There are many more to explore……

  On holiday so often the little things make a difference - in this property the little things were given a high priority from the beautiful and fluffy towels and the complimentary L'Occitane toliteries to the extra services on offer. Sandras freezer meals were a real treat. A superbly appointed gite - no equipment lacking, everything in excellent working order. Hosts made us feel welcome but were not intrusive - just right for us. Swimming in the pool smelling the lavender was bliss. A great place to relax and unwind. Restaurants in Aups varied and good value, Lac St Croix great for children and serious swimmers alike. In high season be prepared for high levels of traffic in the main villages and the along the coast. Sitting on the cliffs on the Cap D'Antibes makes the journey worth while!

  Myself, my sister and our respective husbands took over both gites for a week. We were warmly welcomed by Colin and Sandra and the complementary bottle of wine was very much appreciated after our journey. The gites were spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The pool area and garden was fantastic and we made full use of it everyday as the weather was beautiful. The small town of Aups is an easy 15 minute walk and we had some very good food and local wine on the evenings we dined out.The gorge de vendon was an experience, beautiful, but for me the journey was just a little too scary with narrow roads and very steep sheer drops!! Our trip to the Lavender fields however was lovely and well worth it they were stunning. All in all we had an excellent relaxing holiday.

  On arrival we were met by Colin and Sandra who welcomed us warmly and showed us everything we needed for the week. The gite was spottless and was presented beautifully. This was our first holiday with our new baby and Sandra had thought of everything - high chair, cot, cot linen, changing mat, even a cup, bowl and spoon. We felt immediately relaxed. We had pre-ordered some of Sandra's wonderful food - and it was ready waiting for us - as well as a few treats from Sandra and Colin. The pool was fantastic, the area is superb - so many places to go - The Gorges Du Verdon - 20 mins away, the town of Aups just a 10 minute walk - there is a supermarket opposite which was very useful, the area is full of the most beautiful villages - with wonderful french markets - and only 1hr 20 from St Tropez. In all an excellent holiday -

  We are a german couple and we spend our honey-moon at Le Genevrier. We have to say that we enjoyed it very much. We felt at home from the first moment on. Sandra and Colin are wonderful people who care very much about their guests, With their charme and humour they create a very relaxing atmosphere. Also the hole setting is very nice. We made wonderful trips into the region around Aups and will come back.

  We were not expecting too much from the weather, and were pleasantly surprised. We found the place easily, due to the excellent driving instructions provided by the owners. The accommodation was immaculately prepared for us, fully equipped with everything listed in the description and more, and was explained to us as much as necessary. We elected to have a first night meal provided - a good plan and most enjoyable. As a town Aups is something of a surprise. Multiple restaurants and cafes, some interesting shops, several bakers and a bustling Wednesday market. Everything is fifteen minutes brisk walk from the Gites. We needed some assistance from the proprieters during our stay, as our command of French is very limited. This was rapidly and willingly forthcoming. The major scenic attraction of the area is definitely the Verdon Gorge and lake. Just make sure that you plan your route so that you are against the wall, and not on the side of the road where the drop is - it is very very high, vertical and scary. Once committed there are very few chances of turning back. We enjoyed our time at this property very much and would definitely stay there again if returning to the area

  Michael and Irene : Northumberland U K Having had many hoidays in Provence over the past 15 years 'Le Genevrier' is certainly one of the best properties that we have stayed in Colin and Sandra seemed to have thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable, even a bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival. The property was imaculate , every piece of equipment that you could possibly need... a very comfortabe bed! towels and bed linen were all of excelent quality...and one of the best showers we have had when being in France! The pool was also a great bonus... managed a swim every day... and we also made good use of the bar- b- q It was an easy 10 minute walk into Aups where there was a good selection of restaurants cafes and shops, also a very good weekly market on Tuesdays There are lots interesting villages and places to visit in the area ...the Gorge de Verdon is a: must see

  Owner response: Just one correction. The market in Aups is twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Also between November and February there is a weekly truffle market on Thursday mornings.
