Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1993
We are avid preservationists; renovating and rehabbing New Orleans properties for 20 years. We are always looking for those homes that have fallen into disrepair, but have good bones to work with. Our joy is finding that our work has breathed new life into these homes, our neighborhood and our community.
Why the Owner Chose Other New Orleans Properties
This property had originally been a single family home that had been converted to a 7 unit rooming house in the 40's. A fire had put the finishing touches to it. We knew within minutes of seeing it that it could be a incredible property if restored to it's original detail. Just one in thousands of homes with beautiful architectural detail rescued in our very unique city.
The Unique Benefits of this Estate
This property offers guests the opportunity to live like a native in a neighborhood that offers a slice of the true ambiance of New Orleans. With Pascal's Manale at the corner, the aroma of BBQ shrimp and the thought of a chilled oyster adds to the unforgettable Big Easy experience.

So I booked this incredible house for a 15-person bachelor party from Austin, TX. After a very long all-day drive, we collectively walked in the front door and our jaws dropped. Let's just say the pics in this profile DO NOT DO IT JUSTICE - it's gorgeous, and way bigger than I thought it would be. When it says it sleeps 22, they mean it. The bedrooms are all huge, many of the 7.5(!) bathrooms are private, there's a great dining room and kitchen, a pool (which was a little too cold in January), and a nice grill which we took full advantage of. If you have a big group, this manse is simply perfect. And the price is really reasonable, and you'll know it the moment you walk in. And see a freakin harpsichord and winding staircase. Kim/owners were very straightforward and super easy to work with. Easy walks to local bars, great food, and the trolley. Can't say enough good things. Thanks! Bobby Nall Austin. TX

This home is so lovely and well appointed, Kim has thought of everything to make your stay so comfortable. This home is a great place for multiple families, room for all to gather and quite spaces to relax away from the crowd. Short walk to the trolley, multiple cafes and front porch and pool area allow you to enjoy the New Orleans away from the French Quarter. A wonderful Christmas was enjoyed by all, Thank You!

We arrived to meet a very accomodating Kim at ths house. We were all blown away by the size of the house. It is huge. Also there are 13 beds in the house, another surprise as we thought since there were 7 bedrooms we were looking to sleep in 7 beds. Amazing accomodations, all rooms have their own bathroom fully loaded with towels, shampoo, etc. Every room also has a TV with cable (a huge plus for us wanting to watch college football). The pool was quite refreshing and a great place to hang out during the down time. About a block over is a great oyster bar with one of the nicest oyster shuckers you will ever meet. We took the rail car to Camellia Grill just west of the home and cabbed it everywhere else ($4 a person down to bourbon). Very quiet home on a great street. Thanks again to Kim.
Owner response:Merci! Our pleasure! Great times in the Big Easy! See you next time you decide to head our way!

We held a college mini-reunion here during Jazz Fest in May, 2011. It was a wonderful house -- nice to cool off in the pool after hot, dusty days. Lots of space for a gumbo night party, and easy to hit Pascal's Manale one block down. I wouldn't consider it walking distance to Tipitina's, but was proven wrong on a night when we could not find a cab at Tip's. The photos show how beautiful the house and furnishings are, but no one has mentioned the charming avant-garde touches -- absinthe spoons in the silverware drawer, bongo drums and a piano and an almost life size statue of St. Jude (fittingly the patron saint of lost causes) in the dining room. Walls are thick, towels plentiful. The only tiny negative was that we were given less keys than rooms, but that was a workable problem.

My family stayed here over Halloween weekend and had a truly wonderful time. The house is just gorgeous, the pictures don't even do it justice. Each room is decorated beautifully with wonderful attention to detail and the house is immaculately kept. There are several great places for groups to gather- from the kitchen, to the sitting room, to the front porch- there were 13 of us and we had more than enough space. The 7.5 bathrooms also make this a great place for a group to stay comfortably. The owners were wonderful and lovely to communicate with. The location is great- the best of Uptown is close by, with the French Quarter easily accessible by streetcar. The house is also right on the parade route, which would be perfect during Mardi Gras season. We hope to come back during the warmer months so we can use the pool! I highly recommend this property.

My family and I stayed at this location during the occasion of a cousin's wedding in Baton Rouge. This property was so large that even with 19 people in the house, there were times you felt that you were alone. Extra features like laundry room & pool were great and were used on occasion. We stayed for a week and were not disappointed. Located in a nice neighborhood, we were walking distance to a historic cemetary, the St. Charles street car line, and Loyola University. If you are planning a large event, you wont go wrong with this property. Whether you want to hang out at the pool, sit in the parlor or relax on one of the three porches, this place is great. If you have a couple with small children or someone in a wheel chair, this house could be ideal. Several of the bedrooms, such as the first floor and third floor have bedrooms with a master chamber and smaller sleeping rooms attached as well as bathrooms. We had a cousin in a wheel chair and other than the first 6 steps in front, she never had a problem getting around the first floor bedroom, bathroom or kitchen.
Owner response:Thank you for spreading the news. We are always happy when our guests are happy and they say so! Looking forward to your return trip to the Big Easy! Kim & Gilles

After reading a million reviews my husband and I chose to rent Beau Sejour for us to share with our closest friends and family while preparing for our Jackson Square wedding. I could not have been more pleased! It was PERFECT. This is a great place for pre wedding pictures, big enough for everyone to be comfortable, and the owners went above and beyond to make everything special. If you are considering this place for a wedding or a vacation stop looking at anything else. If a perfectionist like myself can use it for the most important day of my life....You will not be disappointed!

We were lucky enough to enjoy a week at this property with our entire family. There were 21 of us at the house and it was truly amazing. Lots of room, privacy if desired, areas for small and large group gatherings. The house was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Owners were great to work with.

The house - amazing. Quality of service from the owners - also amazing! We stayed at this house for 3 short days and I wish we could have stayed longer! We used the house as a place to for my entire family to reunite for the very first time! And what a great time we had! The house is very old and has lots of charm and character! The pool - was great! A great way to cool off in that Louisiana heat! The pic of the pool makes the area around the pool look a little small, but we had no problem fitting 17 people out there! Thank you for making our first reunion a memorable one!
