This lovely, secluded A-frame Home is located on a 1-acre wooded lot in the private community of Otis Wood Lands, in the southern Berkshires, less than 3 hours from the New York metro area and Boston. The house has 3 levels. On the main level, you can relax in a living room with a TV/VCR, DVD (no TV reception), cathedral ceiling, and sliding glass doors that open to a wood deck. In the fall and winter, make a fire in a wood-burning Vermont stove. In the summer, eat your meals on the deck shaded by the trees that surround the house or relax on the lounge chairs with your favorite book.
The main floor also has a fully-equipped kitchen with a dining area that seats 8 people. The Master bedroom and a full bathroom are on this floor. One floor above is a large bedroom with a skylight, a double bed and twin high rise/trundle beds. The lower level contains a bedroom with double bed and a full bathroom, a recreation room with a pull-out sofa bed, ping-pong table, darts, and a TV, VCR, and DVD (no TV reception).
As part of a private community, you may enjoy the outdoor, heated swimming pool, tennis courts, and swim in the pristine lake from a sandy beach that is fun for the whole family. A 2 minute walk from our front door leads to a hiking path through Otis State Forest to beautiful, secluded Upper Spectacle Pond.
Enjoy the variety of pleasures that the Berkshires has to offer, just a short drive from Otis: concerts at Tanglewood; dance at Jacobs Pillow; plays at the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Shakespeare & Co., and numerous other summer stock theatres; art, natural history, and local cultural museums, including the Norman Rockwell Museum; shopping at the outlets in Lee and antiquing throughout the area.
There are as many enjoyable outdoor winter activities, including downhill skiing at slopes for beginners at Otis Ridge, and for more experienced skiers at Butternut, Jimminy Peak, and Catamount. There are several cross-country ski areas, where you can also go snow-shoeing. The public school in Lee has a fantastic slope for sledding.
Fall foliage is phenomenal. You can drive or hike to beautiful vistas in the state parks and forests or just drive along the country roads and take in the scenery. In the spring, the wildflowers bloom. Visit the Berkshire Botanical Gardens or simply walk along the roads of Otis Wood Lands to enjoy the fresh spring air. In any season, the house and Otis Wood Lands will provide a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
