Location: Coral Bay, USVI - St. John, Caribbean (within walking distance of Coral Bay) View Map

Accommodations:  House, 3 Bedrooms + Attached Unit, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 4-7)

Welcome to "Coral Bay Outlook." The Outlook is a lovely, hillside villa overlooking one of St. John's most spectacular harbors with views of the British Virgin Islands on the near horizon. All the best beaches in the National Park are just a short drive away while the restaurants and small shops in the Village of Coral Bay are within walking distance.

Our villa is located on two floors - a main level with two large bedrooms - and a lower, garden level with a separate guest apartment including a second kitchen and one bedroom. You may rent the entire house which sleeps 7 people and is perfect for two couples who want privacy or a family traveling with another couple or in-laws. Or you may rent the main level (upstairs) for up to 5 people or the very affordable guest apartment (garden level) which suits a couple. You will find the views are superb from all levels.

We have comfortably furnished our villa in natural rattan, dark woods and tile. It comes fully outfitted with linens, guidebooks, beach supplies and more -- everything you need for a carefree vacation. There is a completely equipped kitchen for gourmet cooking and a Weber gas grill for outdoor grilling on the deck.

We are situated on a hillside about 200 yards from the harbor’s edge. Assess to our property is on a private, paved road (a luxury in St John). The villa is surrounded on three sides by lush gardens with palm trees and jasmine flowers. It is convenient to the village, but also quiet. Two large decks overlook the harbor and there is a shady patio on one side. From the decks, you can see boats traversing the harbor, catch the rising sun, and enjoy the afternoon shade while looking at the lush British Virgin Islands - Norman Island, Tortola and Peter Island - in the near distance.

The main level of the house has a 'great room' with a large outdoor deck running the full length. The great room includes a living area with a TV, VCR, DVD and stereo, an eating area and a modern kitchen with dishwasher, stove and microwave. There are two large bedrooms - one with a king bed and the other with a double bed and a single bed. Each bedroom has a private toilet and sink and there is a semi-outdoor, tiled shower with a spectacular harbor view. The house is wired for internet and most of the time, the WiFi service is excellent.

The lower, garden level has its own entrance and large deck with panoramic views. It has a long living/dining area, a kitchen, 1 bedroom with a queen bed, and a full bath. It is furnished in the same Caribbean style, bright and colorful.

The whole villa is available for rent or it can be subdivided into the upper 2 BR level or the lower, 1 BR garden level.

The legendary National Park beaches with white sand, calm water and stunning snorkeling are just minutes away as are many of the park's best hiking trails. Also nearby are a wonderful variety of restaurants, including Skinny Legs, Island Blues, Miss Lucy's, Aqua Bistro, and Shipwreck Landing, many with live music in season. Kayak rentals, snorkeling equipment, and information on boat charters is all located at the harbor's edge.

Come relax and have fun - on our deck, in our garden, or in the sea nearby.

Why the Owner Chose Coral Bay

We enjoy sailing but the season in New England is very short so ten years ago we started sailing in the Caribbean during the winter. We fell in love with the Virgin Islands and especially St John with its uncrowded beaches, soft sand, clear water and spectacular snorkeling. When we wanted to buy a vacation house in a warm place, we decided to buy in the US Virgins and chose the village of Coral Bay because it is the prettiest part of this beautiful island island, and it is also the most convenient place to reach the best south shore and north shore beaches in the National Park.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We have made every effort to make our home very comfortable for us - and for you! We like to cook; sit on the deck and admire the view; get on line and catch up on our email; go for a swim; hike in a beautiful place; explore ruins; snorkel; go our for dinner, and also just stay in and relax. The Outlook is convenient for all this and more. It is truly a place to get away from it all in comfort - and yet still have instant, excellent email/internet service in every room of the house.

Owner's Map of Coral Bay

Hi
We live just north of Boston, Massachusetts in the historic seaport of Salem. We love living near the water and sailing during the summer. I head-up a regional, non-profit organization that works in collaboration with the National Park Service on trail development, historic preservation, and heritage education projects. Andy works in media research and technology at MIT. We have one daughter.
Cheers, Annie & Andy

    • Our stay at Coral Bay Outlook was fabulously tropical and convenient. By the end of our stay, the house felt like a home. Everything is tastefully decorated in island style. The kitchen is well equipped and designed for multiple users. The house really has an open feel to it that is hard to perceive by looking at the pictures. My favorite feature of the house is the marvelous indoor/outdoor shower. You enter the large terracotta- tiled shower from the inside, but once in the shower, you have an open rooftop and magnificent view of the harbor. We lived on the deck with its fantastic view of Coral Harbor. I think my husband could have sat there all day watching the boat arrivals and departures. Although our visit was in July, we had great tropical breezes our entire stay. The house is convenient to markets, Lily’s Market and Love City; restaurants, Island Blues (our fav), and Miss Lucy’s (don’t miss the brunch), snorkeling gear rental at Crabby Shack’s, deli food and sandwiches at Big Belly Deli, and of course the beaches, both North and South. The house had chairs, coolers, and beach towels for beach use. The outside of the house was well landscaped with a “patio” area with table, chairs, and a bench. I really loved the coral and shells built into the outdoor steps and wall. All six of us were very comfortable in the house, with two of us bunking downstairs in the garden villa, and the other four of us upstairs. Both up and down stairs have decks and great views. You just won’t get the same laid back island feel in Cruz Bay—Coral Bay Outlook is the place to stay.

    • We had a wonderful stay at Coral Bay Outlook. We originally looked for something less expensive in Cruz Bay but luckily for us those plases were full. Coral Bay Outlook was a much better value. The location is great. Close enough to the North and South Beaches. The view is also great and the cottage is decorated nicely and clean and comfortable.

How do you begin to summarize a week in Paradise? What an enormously special place, and what an honor to be able to spend some time here. The house is magnificent; well equipped throughout and the location and view are wonderful. It is a fabulous place to call home for ten days. The nearly constant tradewinds gave it a sense of timelessness, and the feathered residents of the area added more local color: bananaquits, frigate birds, thrushes, pelicans, and even some species that travel all the way to New England. Then there are the hikes in to some undisturbed beaches and the coral reefs teaming with beauty and diversity. Hard to describe the experience in words....So much to explore here, and even in ten days I feel we just scratched the surface. I'm sure we will be back.

Thanks for a memorable time here! The house is well equipped and we're grateful for the beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas that were available. What an amazing view & location! Easy access to stores and great restaurants. Our kids (ages 2, 4, & 6 yr) loved little Maho Bay - such a gentle place to swim for our little ones. We hope to come back and stay in your lovely home.

A spectacular six days! Each beach more beautiful than the next - snorkeling, 'restauranteering'(Shipwreck!), hiking, swimming, but best of all sitting on the deck in the morning having breakfast, reading, and falling in love with the view. What a wonderful place!

We thought your house was just perfect from the 3 of us. The open air shower was the highlight by daylight or moonlight! Next, the constant breezes--no need for AC. I can't think of a thing that you are lacking and we cooked a couple of dinners. Thirdly, great views with easy access to market, etc.... We would recommend your house and definitely come back. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise.

We are back at the Outlook for a long weekend, and I wish that we had more time. This house and the island never cease to amaze me - beautiful views, perfect temperature, cool breezes, wonderful swimming, interesting snorkeling and fun dining with good live music. I'm delighted to see in our guest book that all of our guests have enjoyed this house as much as we do. It is a great place to spend time relaxing, and it is also a good 'jumping off' spot for exploring some of the best beaches and dining on the island. If you come, I'm sure that you will have a very pleasant vacation.

We loved every moment of our stay here - we don't want to go! The house was just what we needed - perfect size with all the right supplies. The view and ocean breeze were our favorites, morning and evening. Our highlights here: Salt Pond Bay, Maho Bay Camp, Salomon and Honeymoon Beach, great local flavor at "Skinny Legs" and Lucy's brunch was just fantastic. Our best meal, though, was right here. We cooked on the grill and ate on the deck - just can't beat that!! Thanks for all the perfect details that make this place feel so much like home.
