Accommodations:  Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)

Atlantic View Hideaway is located on Marshall Point in the scenic coastal village of Port Clyde, America! This special spot on the map is the defining feature of this charming Maine cottage. The rustic, yet fully-stocked general store, Monhegan Ferry, public landing, ice cream store, galleries, lobster pounds, local seafood gourmet, working harbor, schooners, Drift Inn Beach, spruce-wooded foot paths, the stunning beauty, and most of all, the friendly community make this a truly magical vacation. Once you have strolled around the village of Port Clyde, you will never want to leave!

The land ends at Hideaway and there is nothing but open ocean! A few doors down is Marshall Point Light House. This historic lighthouse offers the most amazing little museum worth hours of fun for everyone. Outside from the beautiful grounds are spectacular views of harbor, islands and fishing boats. Walk the bridge, have a picnic, pick raspberries, play, or paint a picture!

Just a few steps in the other direction is Cottage Lane, running down the harbor-side of the point. This is where you have shared use of our own Marshall Point Landing dock and pier. (ask about renting the mooring) Calmer waters are on this side. It is perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, and sunset picnics. Of course, this verbal walking-tour of Port Clyde will never compare to the real thing! Imagine too, the ocean breeze, the wild roses, the salt mist, and spruce scented forests...

After your lovely walk you find yourself back at the center of Marshall Point on the wraparound porch facing the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, only 75 feet away. Watch the lobstermen hauling traps and the schooners sailing by from here! The covered porch is a very popular spot in the summer. Coffee in the morning, then read the afternoon away; later, work the jigsaw puzzle and when evening arrives have a lobster bake. Endless old-fashioned porch days are guaranteed!

Walk inside and you hear the sound of a screen door springing behind you! You will notice the wonderfully worn pine-plank floors, exposed posts and beams, and an open-airy design. There is a living room with a granite fireplace, TV den, and kitchen. Back center is a conveniently located full bath/utility room with washer and dryer.

The eat-in farm kitchen is open and expansive with a 9-foot pine dining table, wood-burning stove, antique sink, butcher block and granite counter tops, breakfast bar, and lots of cheerful sunlight. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and supports large gatherings. It is a great space to cook in too!

Upstairs are two very large bedrooms, one small bedroom, a sleeping loft, and a full bathroom. Each bedroom faces the ocean, so let the sound of the breezy waves lull you to sleep. Hideaway Cottage is colorful, cozy, and comfortable upstairs and down! It will not be hard to make yourself at home.

Out back is an acre of spruce, a tiny brook, mossy granite ledges, a blueberry patch, fairy trails, and our personal favorite, up in the night sky, the most brilliant view of the Milky Way anywhere on earth!

    • I stayed at the house in 2003 I went to Maine, I loved going back in the forest behind the house and building fairy houses. We went down to the beach and swam and went to a church fair down the street. Going to the light house that Tom Hanks ran on in the movie ,Forest Gump, was really exciting!!! I rode my bike in to town every morning and go thot chocolate. We had lobster every night. the back yard had a huge forest that seemed like it would it would never end!!! i had a great time in Maine, it was my best vacation ever, and i go on a family vacation every year. I think this is a great spot to stay and you should try staying there one time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Holly, I so glad you finally got a guestbook! Your ocean home provided us with the best vacation we have ever had.The view, the ocean, the spacious home was so neat and clean. We spent every night on the deck eating and smelling the ocean breeze! The little fishing village of Port Clyde was sooo friendly and quaint just like in the movies! The whole family walked to the little ice cream shop every night for a treat. As we told you we can't book time for this summer--But next summer or fall you can count on us to be yearly vacationers at your beautiful "hideaway" on the ocean. Thank you for sharing your dream home with us! Tom, Joyce and family
