Our Beach front villa in Rocky Point ( Puerto Penasco) rests on the Sea of Cortez ( Gulf of Calif). Located in 'Las Conchas', a gated community just east of downtown. Your special family gatherings where there is peace and serenity, private quiet beach front getaway from the crowded condos/resorts. The Old Mexican architecture and cozy atmosphere of our villa home and the courtyard, porches are all relaxing and refreshing of your spirit. The beautiful pristine beach and the gentle breezes and soft surf welcomes you. Sit on our front porch and enjoy the view. Peaceful family environment is what we are about with lots of elbow room for the times when you want to be alone. Our villa is all walled in for privacy with parking for up to 6 vehicles inside our compound.
Villa Madre Del Mar can accommodate your stay from 2 to up to 20 persons. You can book one large casita,studio apt.(sleeps up to 4 persons) or book a town home that has two bedrooms and two baths, sleeps up to 6 persons and is right on the beach. With having 4 homes in our compound you can book as little or as many homes as needed for your size gathering. We prefer to book to only one party at a time and will talk with you in-regard to this. We want you to have your privacy.
The large center wooden door between The two town homes can be opened up to create one large home and with the high wood beam ceilings (18' up) creates a beautiful open and warm feeling to the villa's great room areas. Very spacious and open feeling all around you.
ALL units/homes at Madre Del Mar are decorated with old Mexico tradition and the beach in mind. Traditional in design and very colorful, with many porches and shaded areas, with many windows through out. All rooms have beach views. As our guests here at our villa, we offer our services to make sure your stay is just what your wanting it to be. If problems arise we are here to help you and we have someone here daily ( if wanted) to check with you on any needs that may arise.
Family reunions are among our favorite bookings, intimate weddings or Spiritual / church retreats. We are open fall, winter, spring and most of the summer.

- Air Conditioning : Four separate vacation homes, 4 air conditioning units make up the one large home / villa.... All units have AC with-in 3 years old, seer 13.

Our family chose to build a home here due to the pristine beach front, the quiet serene atmosphere and only 4 hours from Tucson or Phoenix.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our location is quiet and private. Our villa is gated and walled in. Our young families enjoy the coral reefs in our area of the beach and also walking and kayaking in the estuary that is only a couple of blocks distance from our villa. The birds are numerous and we see a great deal of dolphins swimming almost daily from our beach front porches and windows. Lots of elbow room here at the villa. You can be together yet have your own privacy when you choose to due to the accommodations and lay out of the villa. We have a large film library and satellite TV, wireless INTERNET access and direct calling to and from the USA. We are only 6 miles from town yet close enough to get to where we need to go easily.
Our villa is located in Las Conchas gated comunity just east of the city of Rocky Point ( Puerto Penasco) on the beach front.

I am Kathy, a daughter, a sister to 10 other siblings, a mom to two and grandmother to six. I live in both Tucson and Rocky Point. I love taking care of the villa for our family and guests. We think family! We enjoy sharing our home with other family and friend gatherings. Our Villa is directly on the beach front in the most desired area of Las Conchas on the far east end. Originally built in 1985 and renovated in 2005-present. A traditional Mexican Home with courtyard, overhangs, potted plants and cozy atmosphere. Madre Del Mar is a beautiful very large home taking in 4,500 square feet under roof and twice that in parking and courtyards, all walled in.
You will love visiting with us ' Me Casa es su Casa ' as we say here in Mexico. Our love for family gatherings is enhanced with our special free services that we offer in concierge servicing for all kinds of activities for water sports, cruises, spa, beauty and golf. My wife and I booked a week in one of the casitas near the end of September. It was everything the website said it would be and more. It was clean, well furnished, and a great home away from home. The owner is a wonderful woman who was always helpful and did everything possible to make our stay a great one. The beach is absolutely incredible, sandy, big, and the water is clean and warm. Because there are three kayaks at the home, two singles and one double, we went kayaking every morning and went out every evening to watch the sun set. The property is only 10 minutes or so from town, where we enjoyed exploring. We enjoyed the local market and highly recommend a local restaurant, La Curva, which has great local food. We flew into Phoenix, rented a car and drove to Rocky Point. The drive was beautiful and uneventful. We plan on going back next year with some friends. I whole heartedly recommend Madre del Mar.

We've been staying with Kathy at Madre Del Mar for almost 2 decades (since 1993). Great house with separate condo's which makes large groups easy. Close to the end of of Las Canchas so there are nice places to walk. House is always clean - never had an issue with that. A wonderful porch to watch those awesome sunsets from.

We love Madre Del Mar! We have gathered our extended family at this beautiful desination for many years. Our daughter was married this past summer at the bottom of the steps in a beachside, sunset ceremony! Madre is far enough from the city for peace and quiet and close enough for runs in for necessary items or visits to restaurants. Madre also provides close access on foot to an estuary. We also rent kayaks for a couple of days and at times are fortunate enough to have them in the water as the dophins swim by. We have NEVER had any problems at the border or in town and have been going to Rocky Point annually for more than 30 years. Our ages range from babies to 80+ years and we all love our annual visit! I stayed in this large compound for five days with 9 friends, and it was more than comfortable for all of us. We gathered for meals in one great room and for lounging in the other, with plenty of space in each area. Everything was as described and pictured (though we didn't get internet most days) and the house is full of unique decorative tile work. We used the kayaks and the grill and cooked many meals without a problem. The rooms are all big, furnishings comfy, and owners helpful. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone able to walk up and down lots of stairs!

Yes, we were presumptuous enough to arrive on Christmas day; so what does Kathy have waiting for us? Marcos, our own personal chef, with the biggest and best shrimp scampi a family could possibly desire! We traveled 2500 miles to find a warm spot on the beach for our 19 family members to celebrate Mom and Dad's 50th anniversary. We all very comfortably fit in the units of Madre Del Mar. Kathy arranged for Felipe to meet us on Sunday to discuss the week ahead. Felipe is a boat captain, and we had plans to visit Bird Island one day and to fish another day. Bird Island was a wonderful experience! On the way, we spotted a pod of dolphins. We slowed the boat as they swam right off our bow. The photos we got are amazing! Then we spotted 2 whales, just moments later. Felipe again took the time to maneuver us close for excellent viewing. Then, at Bird Island, we snorkled with some of the nearly 4000 sea lions that make their home there. The pups were 2-3 months old and it was amazing, swimming and interacting with sea lions just inches away. We enjoyed a few restaurants in town; all were both affordable and very accommodating of our large party. A few to recommend-Hacienda on Fremont Ave., real good Mexican food; Latitude 31, nice burgers in the bar; Pollo Lucas, fun outdoor seating and great chicken; Al Capone's Pizza, good pizza, great staff! Our fishing trip yielded a huge catch-11 fishermen caught some 400+ fish; rock bass, trigger fish and a lone flounder of 4-5 lbs. We arranged for Felipe to pass our catch on to Marcos, who served us 3 different fantastic fish entrees, right at Madre Del Mar! (I'm not a big fish fan, but loved the meal!) And make sure flan is your dessert choice! For our breakfasts and lunch, we found 2 supermarkets in town(Super Ley and SantaFe) that had most anything we needed. Also, try out 'Reggie's 8/12', right off Fremont, behind the Pemex station, has great doughnuts, breakfast burritos and coffee! I pasted 2 links to maps below: it will come in handy, if you'll print out a map before you arrive. We never were lost, but it a took a day or so to find our way around. Felipe was a treasure, helping us locate places in town, and even a Phoenix shuttle, as we sent our 23 yr. old son home early, saving us an 8 hr. trip.

We stayed at Madre del Mar for a week in March and it was beautiful. The home was great for our group. We would recommend this home to larger families- but the upstairs rooms would be just perfect for a couple. It has two separate rooms separated from the main house. The house is right on the beach and it was so nice knowing that an ATV wouldn't be blazing by the kiddos. We loved it.
