This is a wonderful place to stay to get away from the crowds. Everything was as indicated and we would recommend this property to anyone. Please note that if you arrive in Sorrento by either train or bus, you should take the Sita bus to Massa Lubrense as it stops in the middle of Sant Agata (about a five minute walk from Magnolia House). Magnolia House is on the marker posts and there is a sign in front on the street. If you take the Sita bus to Amalfi (Positano), it will let you off on the more main road about a ten minute walk from downtown with no sidewalks. Make sure and tell the driver where you want to get off if you take this bus. If you've chosen this to get a small town feel and get away from the big crowds, you will not be disappointed.
Owner response:Dear Carol and Gary,I'm so glad you enjoyed the apartment, you were great guests! Thanks you! Lucia

A lovely spacious well-furnished comfortable & exceptionally clean apartment! Hosts are gracious and generous. St Agata is a small town with some fantastic restaurants. Half-hour bus to Sorrento...about another hour to Positano (beautiful drives). An hour by train to Naples. The listing is accurate (wonderful shady terrace for hot weather) but the apt does not really offer a water-view .. and we did not see a gas fireplace (looked like a wood fireplace .. we would have used it otherwise). Enjoyed our 4-day springtime stay!
Owner response:Dear, Thank you for your lovely review, unfortunately only the terrace of living room has a terrace with a partial view of the Gulf of Salerno. I'm sorry if you not have used a gas fireplace (Is necessary only a new gas bottle). Best regards, Lucia & Francesco

The Magnolia House was a wonderful retreat during our 3 week European Vacation. We spent our last 5 days of vacation here. It was very clean, spacious, and wonderfully decorated. Lucia was very helpful with any questions I had. This was a great location to explore surrounding areas from. It was easy to drive up the Amalfi Coast and visit Sorrento and Pompeii. I would recommend this place to anyone in the future.
Owner response:Dear Julia, you are fabulous guest, really friendly, we hope sincerely, you return next year. Thank you, Lucia & Francesco

Magnolia House is a jewel. It is conveniently located a short walking distance from the center of Sant'Agata's main street (access to shops and bus stop), and it is beautiful. The idyllic Italian vegetable garden welcomes you once inside the property and lines the way to your peaceful, spacious patio just outside the apartment's kitchen. The rooms are immaculate, beautifully and lovingly decorated and the place provides a comfortable, warm feeling for guests. We used Magnolia House as a home base for a week of exploring Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. Once we got the hang of the bus system, we found it was very efficient and easy to use. We loved Stuzzichino's restaurant and had fun buying shoes from Raffaello in Sant'Agata. The people of Sant'Agata are friendly to tourists, and our hosts, Lucia and Francesco, were most gracious and helpful. If Sant'Agata weren't so far from California, we'd go there more often! Be sure to take the walk from Magnolia House up to the monastery at Il Deserto for some great views and an invigorating stroll. You can reward yourself with a glass of wine and a tasty dish at Stuzzichino's on the way back. Don Alfonso 1890 in Sant'Agata offers a world class (and very expensive) haute cuisine dining experience but if you have a special occasion or just love truly fiine dining, it's worth it. Livia, the chef's wife will personally greet you and invite you to tour the wine cellar and the other buildings that make up the estate.
Owner response:Dear Olivia, if California weren't so far from Sant'Agata, we'd go there more often! Be sure We hope however, at least sooner or later! Thank you, Lucia & Francesco

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The apartment is very roomy and the terrace is beautiful. I would have enjoyed just sitting on the terrace and reading all day, but there was so much to see in the area. The location is close to the bus stop and town center. Sant' Agata is a lovely community. We rode the bus to Positano and Amalfi one day - a very unique experience on the narrow roads and absolutely gorgeous vistas. Lucia is a wonderful hostess. The apartment was spotless and very well equipped. You won't regret staying here!
Owner response:Dear Carole, thank you for your wonderful review! We look forward to meeting you then yet again. Best wishes, Lucia & Francesco

Staying at Magnolia House was the highlight of our trip to Italy. Lucia is a gracious hostess, and the apartment is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We took many wonderful meals out on the beautiful patio. We highly recommend taking a hike to Crapolla. Ask Lucia or go to the tourist information office in Sant Agata.

05/11/2011 - 05/18/2011 Mama Mia ! Have always dreamed of finding a Italian village and becoming a "local residents." Sant' Agata and the Magnolia House completed our dream vacation, Owners Lucia and Francesco treated us like visiting family. The bottle of local wine, two glasses and fresh pasteries greeted upon check-in. The house is a very comfortable two bedroom. Sleeps 4, and a 5th on a pull out sofa. Fully equipped kitchen, English channel TV, secure private parking. Take your laptop to stay in touch with home via the Wi-Fi connection. You live outdoors using the front and rear patios. Took many meals on the patios, plus down town reading a book. Lovely yard with flower gardens aglore. Easy walk to the grocery store, bakery, shops and resturants. Bus stop is nearby for those without a car. Drive to Sorrento, Positana and beautiful Amalfi coast road only 10-15 minutes. Exploring Massa Lubrense (municipality west of Sorrento) makes for fun day trips. The views of Isle Capri, Gulfs of Naples and Salerno are beautiful. Beach access at nearby Marina Catone. Hike to the abandon church high atop village of Termni. So much to do, so little time. Best part of our stay was the interaction with Lucia's family; husband Franceso, daughter Annalisa, son's Roberto (lives in Naples), Carlos and daughter-in-law, Elano. Lucia invited us to have dinner with the family. The property abounds with lemon trees. Asked if she made limonchello. Answer was Yes!.. after dinner. Went out in the yard and picked 14 lemons. Proceeded to peel the lemon rin zest. Lucia shared her recipe for lemoncello. Enjoyed the finished product 2 days later. Recommended resturants......Ristorante Lo Stuzzichnino across from the dummo and Ristorante Da Cardillo, just a block from Magnolia House. Go and meet the locals at the bakery at 8:30 PM awaiting for fresh baked break, 2 loafs for 1 EU. Almost forgot the family small white dog, named Nuvolo. Ask Francesco to show you how the dog dances on it's hind legs. In closing the property location description was accurate. Listing pictures represent the unit. Property is very well maintained with pride. Have and will continue to recommend The Magnolia House to family and friends. Questions ? Our five-day stay at Magnolia House was the most memorable stop of our recent one-month vacation in Italy. The quiet and charming village of Saint Agate is an ideal location from which to explore the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento areas. The house is beautifully appointed with a fabulous kitchen and spacious garden patio. We were most impressed by generous hospitality of of our hosts, Lucia and Francesco - who provided assistance with transportation and a beautiful meal on our arrival. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable but always respected our privacy. Magnolia House was a wonderful place to begin our vacation in Italy. We hope to return soon.
Owner response:Dear John & Maureen, we hope you return soon, we are very happy you came to see "Sant'Agata sui due Golfi", ideal location from which to explore the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento areas. Thank you, Lucia & Francesco

Our family of three arrived Magnolia House on Christmas day night when the day was rainy and cold. Immediately we received the warmest welcome from Lucia and Francesco. The home was beautifully decorated with flowers in every corner. The living room fire was burning in the fire place. Lucia and Francesco even brought out a fabulous full coursed dinner to us. Our nine-year-old son Mark loved this vacation home and rated this as his best holiday home. We spent one week exploring Sorrento and Amalfi coast. All those small villages are irresistible charming. No matter you meet locals in grocery store or on the streets, everyone is willing to ensure you have a wonderful time. It was such a delightful holiday we would love to be back any time soon. Thanks Lucia and Francesco to provide us a wonderful home at St. Agata for our 2010 Christmas.
Owner response: Thank you! I'm really happy you've come to my home! It's been great meeting you, we hope to see you again. Goodbye Mark and Sherry, see you soon, Lucia & Francesco

We stayed one week at Magnolia House and felt as if we were 'home away from home'. Lucia and Francesco welcomed us warmly with a beautiful white wine and delicious pastries for our enjoyment. Magnolia House is spotlessly clean and the decor is very pretty. The kitchen is well equipped and the whole apartment very spacious. We had a hire car and explored the towns of Sorrento, Positano, Isle of Capri, and the many small villages dotting the hillside and coastline. We also drove to Pompeii one day and explored the amazing ruins there. Sant'Agata is a pretty little town only 5 minutes walk from the apartment. We ate at the restaurants and shopped in the small supermarket just around the corner. The views from around the town down to the coast are spectacular with blue skies and turqoise water. Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay in your apartment Lucia and Francesco, we would love to return one day and definately recommend Magnolia House as a great place to stay.

We had an absolutely wonderful time here! Lucia and Franco were the most gracious of hosts. A+++! I would abolutely recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a great Italian experience. I can't wait to stay there again. It was clean, quiet, easy to find and get to, close to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, really perfect in every way. We stayed the last week of May and I would readily have stayed there the rest of the summer had it been possible. You will love the house, the garden and it's owners. We certainly did!

Magnolia House's location is ideal for touring the Amalfi Coast and Masse Lubrense area. We rented a car and found the driving to be excellent. There are car parks in all the towns so it is safe to park. The apartment is well appointed and is ideal for a couple or small family. There are a number of good restaurants within walking distance of the house....so why cook? Lucia is very helpful with any questions or concerns you may have...very warm and welcoming.

On a scale of one to ten Casa Magnolia is a ten. You can’t ask for more. Not only is it a wonderful base for exploring the Amalfi Coast, but your hosts, Lucia and Franchsco, are specially warm and welcoming. Their gift of fresh flowers, wine and cheese, and lemons and herbs from their garden, made this beautifully decorated home, a true home away from home. It is large, immaculate and fully equipped, and the lovely patio and garden is a perfect place to relax. We both thought our ten days here flew by all to quickly. We recommend it highly!

Such a wonderful little place to come home to after a day at the ruins of Pompei, shopping in the little shops in the square in Amalfi, or just trying to find out where our baggage ended up from the flight over. The decor is very inviting, and there was even a Christmas tree in the living room. We didn't even have one at home since we were coming here, so it was a very nice surprise to find one. The hospitality of the hosts is outstanding. As one other guest wrote, they're there and friendly, but not intrusive. As soon as you need something, they're happy to make things easier for you. As for the area, it's beautiful, even in the heart of winter. I was out in a t-shirt with a light jacket at Pompei. And if you fancy yourself a good driver, the roads from Naples to S. Agata are a great pleasure, even if you don't get over 60 km/h. Make sure at least one morning to take a walk down the hill behind the garage. The scenery is breathtaking.

We just got back from a three week trip to Italy. Two wonderful weeks of that trip were spent at Magnolia house. The apartment was generous in size for two and would easily accommodate four. It has a large, wonderfully equipped kitchen opening onto a covered terrace which looks out onto a nicely landscaped yard overflowing with blooming flowers and lemon trees. The living room is large and comfortable and opens onto a terrace with partial view to the Gulf of Salerno. The location is central to Sorrento, Positano and sights and rugged landscape of the peninsula. There are shops and restaurants within easy walking distance and marked hiking trails are accessible for walks throughout the area. We walked to Sorrento - about 1200 feet in vertical drop over about two miles or so - a great walk with wonderful vistas. Our stay was overseen by owners Lucia and Francesco - a warm, generous and attentive couple who provided a welcoming of wine, pastries and fresh flowers and followed up with a prepared meal for one of our dinners. We ended up having dinner with them twice during our stay - once with us doing the cooking and another with Lucia doing the honors. We would highly recommend Magnolia House to anyone who wants to experience life on the Sorrentine peninsula in a really relaxing atmosphere.
Owner response:Dear Edward & Giulia, we hope you will, soon at "Magnolia House" Sant'Agata sui due golfi. Sincerely, Lucia & Francesco

January 3, 2009We loved our stay at the Magnolia House! The generosity of Lucia and Francesco with gifts of kindness over the Holiday Season (late December 2008) warmed our hearts. We loved Lucia’s baked goods and the holiday candies. The gnocci lunch brought by Francesco was a tasty treat on a gray day. We used the herbs and lemons provided from Lucia and Francesco’s garden to flavor our food. One of the family cats, “Chocolato”, kept us company and adopted us for the week. Our trip to the town of Sorrento with Lucia was an added “bonus”. We walked daily the four blocks to the center of the town of St. Agata for our fresh fish, groceries, fresh pasta, native fruits and vegetables and freshly baked bread. Being in a small Italian village allowed us to savor their charming way of life, including the local “ristorante” specialties. Staying at the Magnolia House and being the guests of such a warm and generous family afforded us the opportunity to “mingle” with a special Italian family for the week. No question, of all the countries in the world, best to do this in Italy! As for the house itself, it was tastefully and comfortably furnished and fully accommodating. The location was excellent in that afforded us to take day trips to Amalfi, Pompei, Ravello and Positano as well as being just a few minutes from the heart of Sorrento. We would highly recommend the Magnolia House to anyone visiting this area of Italy. In addition, visitors should consider the winter months to see this area since the weather is that of a Spring day, the costs are low and there are no herds of tourists jamming the streets and attractions. We would certainly come back!Bob Kaufman and Rosalind RoseinmannCape Cod, Massachusetts, USA

A friend and I just returned from a wonderful week in Sat Agata at Lucia and Francesco's lovely apartment. We had an awesome time and Lucia was extremely helpful to us on everything...we even had access to the internet which was really helpful in looking for information about restaurants and local attractions...she also arranged for 2 wonderful boat trips which were the highlight of our stay..one to Capri and the other to Positano and Amalfi...I would highly recommend these tours by a local company in Nerano..they came and picked us up at the apartment and returned us there after the tour... ..the apartment was very spacious and really nicely decorated with Lucia's personal touch...not sterile dorm room fare that many of these apartments have...Lucia obviously took pride in creating a comfortable and homey atmosphere for her guests... ...the outside terrace was a wonderful place to have breakfast in the morning and dinner at night..it faces a beautifully kept garden and was a peaceful oasis at the end of a busy day of sightseeing... ..Lucia also has another apartment next door to Magnolia House which is adorable as well.. it was really nice to be in a peacful town like Sant Agata rather than in the busy city of Sorrento...however, Sorrento was easily accessible by local bus which saved the hassle of finding parking in the city... all in all, we had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this lovely apartment to one and all...Heather Laschinger and Elizabeth Webber Canada

We just returned from our stay at Magnolia House. It was charming, with beautiful gardens. Lucia and Francesco could not be more hospitable. She arranged for us to visit Capri, Amalfi and Positano and it worked out beautifully. The area is accessible to all the tourist areas and after a tiring day of sightseeing, it was wonderful to return to Magnolia House. We would return as soon as possible. Our week at Magnolia House turned out to be the best of our three-week trip to Italy.
