Wonderful House to Enjoy Sunset Beach

We've stayed at five houses on Sunset Beach and this is our favorite! The decor and layout are perfect for relaxing and enjoying time there. My daughter and her husband really liked having the upstairs apartment for family togetherness and when time called for a nap or bedtime for their three year old and 15 month old. Eating at the table on the front porch is a memorable experience as is relaxing in the rocking chairs there. The beach is a short distance away, easily walkable in a few minutes. Sunset Beach is our favorite North Carolina beach for its uncrowded family nature and the entertainments of Myrtle Beach are well within an hour's drive- closer to a half hour to some. Becky is a wonderful host, very easy to communicate with and that adds to the enjoyment of her house. All-in-all we had a great time and the house was a big part of the experience.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well maintained. I was also impressed by the well-stocked kitchen. The owner was very helpful. We also liked the layout with the separate bedroom and kitchen upstairs. I would definitely recommend this property.

This was our third year renting for a 3 month period in the area and Sunset Beach is by far our favorite place. Bugsys Island Karat was clean and well maintained. We truly enjoyed our home away from home and were able to have our children and grandchildren come for weekend visits. The location is wonderful and we loved the short walk to the beach. The fully equipped kitchen made for many home cooked meals during our stay. When we did go out our favorite places to eat were The Boundary House in Calabash, River City in North Myrtle Beach and The Italian Grille right there in Sunset Beach. The 2 floors made it easy to entertain children with a movie and adults watching sports at the same time. Becky was a delight to work with and we will keep in touch for future visits to Sunset Beach.

We had a wonderful stay at Bugsy's Island Karat. The house was well maintained, we enjoyed the front and back porches on the house. It was so close to the beach and felt comfortable with our children walking down to the beach by themselves. The beds were very comfortable as the new couch downstairs (which we love-I want one just like it!). We definitely hope to come back next year.

This house is great for families with older children. The upstairs apartment gives them their own space. The property is always clean and very well maintained. Any problems are always promptly attended to. The owners have always been helpful and friendly. We have stayed in this home for a number of summers and have never been disappointed.

A group of friends rented this property in order to attend a wedding on the island. It was perfect. There was plenty of space and the upstairs area was perfect for the the couple with a child to allow for early bed and wake up times. We also appreciated the beach chairs and toys that are provided since most of us flew in. If we return to Sunset Beach we will be back!

A group of friends rented this property in order to attend a wedding on the island. It was perfect. There was plenty of space and the upstairs area was perfect for the the couple with a child to allow for early bed and wake up times. We had a wonderful time at Sunset Beach! Bugsy's Island Karat was the perfect place for us to stay. The house is well decorated, was very close to the beach and especially provided the unique sleeping combinations of a Queen bed and twin bed in two of the rooms; excellent use of space! We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of Sunset and the convenient drive to Myrtle Beach for shopping. Becky was a pleasure to work with!

After years of vacationing at Ocean City, MD., I decided to try Sunset Beach and absolutely loved both Sunset Beach and Bugsy's Island Karat. The house was immaculately clean, spacious, and the upstairs living area is awesome! The beach is a very conveniant 5 minute walk away, and once there you will find one of the cleanest beaches around. The island is very quiet and family oriented, and was definately a refreshing change of pace. Becky was great to work with, the price is well within reason, and Becky even called once we were settled in to make sure everything was O.K. Can't wait to go back next summer, and for many after!

As one of my daughters summed up our stay -- "it was Awesomeness". The house was spotless and very nicely decorated. The bedrooms were perfect for our family (6 adults and 3 kids) and that top floor bedroom/den/kitchenette was a terrific surprise and deserves better promotion in the description. Becky was very flexible to work with and responsive to any needs -- she not only called us upon our arrival, but when we found the outdoor shower valves were not working well (corrosion problem) she had the plumber at the house within a few hours and repaired before we got back from the beach. We are already making plans for a return visit to Bugsy's and another great family vacation.

My family and I loved vacationing at Sunset Beach and had such a wonderful time at your beach house. We also loved the upstairs suite and how close you are to the uncrowded beach. The home was very comfortable and we all had a very relaxing week. We especially enjoyed the upper level deck, taking in the view, and just enjoying being together. The owners were great to work with. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone seeking a very well maintained attractive home for relaxation and fun with family and friends!

I have stayed at a number of places at Sunset Beach but none is nicer than Bugsy's Island Karat. It is comfortable, very clean, relaxing, all you could ask for and more in a beach house. When the whole family is going I don't even need to compare, this is the one. The price is right, the location is great, the rental process is simple, there's nothing not to like. Don't miss a chance at this one!

Loved, loved, loved this place! My sister and her family, and myself, took my mom and her hubby here for her 70th birthday. She and hubby had upstairs apartment to get away from the kids. It was perfect size for us. We rented bikes - which is a must! Driving is silly for such a small, cozy island. The beach was barely a block away -- just close enough to be convenient for carrying stuff and far enough off main drag to be quiet. It had tons of beach toys, boogie boards, beach chairs, three porches (front, back and on roof) so we could all have our own space, and kitchen stocked with lots of plates, cups, cooking utensils. It was well kept and had a very helpful binder with tips on where to go in the area. My only complaint was that the grill was completely skanky and falling apart, and I couldn't bring my dog. But neither of these things could spoil such a wonderful week!

Bugsy's Island Karat is an excellent place to stay. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed and the home was spotless and very clean. The home has a very unique layout which included a second unit upstairs with a small kitchen. Great for a large family or two families sharing a home. It was also very close to the beach, which made walking to and from it very easy. Great if you need to go back to make lunches. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. The crows nest had great unobstructed views and was refreshing after the beach. The owner (Becky) was very pleasant to deal with and responded to questions and emails promptly. She was also very helpful in making my stay pleasurable. When I return to Sunset, I'm sure to contact Becky first.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the beach. The house was better than expected. The living room upstairs allowed the grown-ups to "get away" from the kids. We just returned from a wonderful stay at Sunset Beach--and Bugsy's Island Karat. It is mid-October yet the weather could not have been better. The beach is beautiful, wide with white sand, and we were even able to enjoy the dolphins at play in the ocean. On the short walk from the house to the beach we came across a deer standing in the brush. Becky's house was more than we hoped for, extremely clean and stocked with all the comforts of home. The kitchen was well equipped which made things so helpful for cooking breakfast. The layout of the home is perfect-with a completely separate area upstairs which is perfect for people who may want to sleep in late or just have some privacy. All in all this trip was a huge success and we would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay a Sunset Beach. Becky was very easy to work which certainly added to to this pleasant experience.

Our Stay at Bugsy's Island Karat was excellent. A variety of things contributed to this very fine vacation experience. The house was super. The layout of the house lends itself to a wide variety of activities. From card playing to Yoga, the house accommodated all our needs. The water pressure in the showers made rinsing off and bathing a real treat. I watched developing Thunderstorms from the fourth floor crows nest early in the morning...The families enjoyed movies and dining together in the main room on the second floor. It was wonderful. Shopping is close. The beach is a huge magnet for more activities. Walking and biking on the flat sandy beach was an activity we enjoyed everyday. We surprised a family of deer early one morning as we crossed the dune going for our morning constitional. (Gone Pictures too!)We had great weather and the waves provided superior bodysurfing and bogeyboarding throughout the week. To repeat, It was an excellent vacation!

what a beautiful, up to date, clean house. plenty of room for 11 people. the setup is perfect. the upstairs master suite with kitchen, living/dining area, and kitchen is like a condo of it's own. the crows nest is cool to go up in and check out the surroundings. you can see the ocean and the pier. the house is a short jaunt to the beach, better the any of the oceanfront houses because they aren't really ocean front, there is a huge section of dunes you have to cross by boardwalk (same one you will use) just to get to the beach. stay at this house instead and you will be pleasantly surprised. the town is very laid back. and sand dollars are easy to find for those beach combers who love that kind of thing. great buggie boarding beach also, though surfers will work their buts off to catch short waves. the front porch is a large and is a great place for family conversation and games. boogie boards and sand toys, as well as beach chairs are provided in the guest storage on the ground level. there is a sink down there for cleaning fish (if you desire) and an enclosed outside shower to get the sand off before you go inside. parking is great. there is room for at least six cars. becky will take care of you for sure. nothing hidden. just a great time at a great home.

This was my second visit to Bugsy's Island Karat. The house is very spacious and tastefully decorated. The private, upstairs apartment is particularly nice and provides a getaway from other guests, when needed! This is a great house and provides everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Sunset Beach will always be special to my family because we spread our Mother's ashes in the ocean in 2006. Sunset Beach is a wonderful vacation destination -- the beach is beautiful and the island is peaceful and quiet -- and this home is an equally wonderful place to stay. Visiting Bugy's Island Karat is the true meaning of a vacation. The home is beautifully decorated as well as having all needed ammenities. The location is perfect with a view of the beach from the widow's watch, as well as a great location for walking, biking and traveling around the island. If you want a great family vacation home, Bugsy's Island Karat is the perfect place to visit.

We stayed at the beach house this year over our Easter break. Took our grandchildren with us and the upstairs apartment is such a convenience, lots of space for everyone. Our week at Bugsy's Island Karat was wonderfully relaxing. As soon as we walked in the door we felt warmly welcomed by the atmosphere the decor created. My husband and I especially loved the privacy the upstairs suite provided. My daughter and her boyfriend had such a great time that they became engaged while there! Becky and Phillip are extremely accommodating to work with and I would recommend them as landlords and their lovely home to everyone who is looking for a great beach vacation!

We have vacationed at Sunset Beach, NC the past 5 summers. This is our fifth rental and is, by a large margin, the nicest home. It is furnished as a home, rather than as a rental and has every amenity you would want. Four couples rented the home and there was enough room and privacy. My wife and I stayed in the upstairs area where we could escape the group when desired. This would be a fantastic home for a family and grandparents staying upstairs or a family with teens where you could each have your own needed space. The distance from the beach was literally a four mminute walk. This is a great rental home.

We stayed at the house the week of July 22nd, 2006 and have been to Sunset beach twice before. This house was nicely decorated, well equiped (it even had a beach cart...) and has a great layout. We especially liked having the separate living area upstairs. Most everyone that stopped by commented on how nice the house was and how well decorated it was compared to the homes they had rented. I would recommend renting this house. Sean

This was our families first time to Sunset Beach. What a great beach for families! The house was very well equipped, clean and very convenient to the beach access. Our family has been vacationing at Sunset Beach for almost 20 years. Bugsy's Island Karat is one of the nicest homes we have rented. The house was very clean when we arrived, the furnishings lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed for the week. My older children loved the private upstairs room. We could see the ocean from the roof deck and we even saw a shooting star on three different evenings! Thank you Becky for sharing your beautiful home with our family.

It's hard not to love Sunset Beach, especially if you seek a quiet beach vacation on a beautifully clean beach, Sunset's a wonderful place to unwind. We have stayed at Bugsy's Island Karat three times over the years. Our most recent trip in June was the first thru vrbo. Bugsy's a great vacation home away from home. Setting up on the top deck and watching the ocean or the setting sun makes relaxation easy.

This is our family's third consecutive year renting Bugsy's Island Karat. It is a beautiful home and very well maintained. The layout of the house is exceptionally nice. Our children bring their friends along and my husband and I enjoy the upstairs apartment where we have complete privacy. There's a great view of the ocean from the widow's peak. I also love rocking on the front porch while listening to the ocean and feeling the wonderful breeze. The unique feeling of island seclusion is created by the one-lane drawbridge. We love that feature! The wide beach is pristine and peaceful. Truly a family beach! Philip and Becky King are caring and responsive landlords.
