    • Finally getting to add my comments. It's been almost a month since our last visit and I already miss it. My parents, husband, dog, and I arrived on 9-12 and our adventure began. We relaxed the first couple days as we were there for the week and had a great surf and turf dinner on Sun. Mon. we kayaked the Au Sable and had dinner at Spike's 'Keg O Nails'. Tues. we headed to Traverse City and wandered around town and checked out the Harbor the old Asylum. Wed. was biking on trails at Hartwick Pines and was very close to a large limb that fell. Yes it did make a sound, a loud one. Thurs. we went to Sleeping Bear Dunes. The dunes were amazing and Lake MI was so clear and blue it was like a tropical location. My dog loved running in the sand. We had lunch at Glen Arbor at a little place called the Boondocks and walked on the shore at Pyramid Point. Fri. we ate ice cream in town at Dawson & Stevens and visited the Historical Society building for some very interesting facts. My mom and I saw some deer the very last night before my Dobe Sully scarred them away. He loved the long walks down the road and around the many trails. We biked down each larger dirt road in the association and met some of the residents. Sat. was the unfortunate end to all the fun but it was a great place to unwind. The weather was amazing, sunny and warm every day with clear skies to look at the millions of stars at night. A truly wonderful week. Thanks for everything. Melissa and Jamie

    • What a beautiful cabin. It was so much better than anything we had pictured in our head. The trip was a quiet weekend for my husband and I to celebrate our one year anniversary. Our dogs had a great time in the creek in the back and we had a great time just escaping it all. I love puzzles, so I was very happy to find a bunch puzzles in the cabin. Clean, tastefully decorated, and had everything we needed.

    • What a great place to relax and unwind with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed watching the deer and sitting and reading by the river. We visited Hartwick Pines State Park and loved the quietness and the beauty of the Old Growth forest. Thanks for the perfect place to get away from it all. Paul and Nancy Saxton, Grand Rapids, MI

    • We had a fabulous visit in early July. We brought our two grandsons, ages 5 and 7, and they were totally enthralled...they waded in the beautiful river for hours, snuggled in the hammock, and found a wealth of toys, puzzles and other amusements...they instantly fell in love with the "family" of stuffed doggies and tucked them all in every night. I'll echo other comments about how thoughtfully supplied the cabin is -- there wasn't one thing that we looked for that we didn't find. Many thanks for creating a perfect setting for a Michigan getaway. P.S. In addition to deer and wild turkeys, we were thrilled to see two giant pilated woodpeckers right out front.

    • There are so many wonderful things to say about this cabin (and the owners Ellen and Pat), I don't know where to start! My two sisters and I stayed at the cabin last weekend for an annual "sisters" weekend, where we left our families behind and could just share some quality bonding time with each other! This is the first time we've stayed at this cabin, but it will not be our last! The cabin was BEAUTIFUL inside and out, and was equipped with both necessities (linens, fully-stocked kitchen, etc) and other items just to make our stay more enjoyable (dvd player and movies, cd player and cds, flashlights, books for children and adults, games for children and adults, horseshoes, bird seed, hammock, a nightlight in the medicine cabinet, etc.) A nightlight might not be a big deal to some people, but personally, I believe it's all the little things that truly add up to show just how much Ellen and Pat care about the comfort of their guests! Also, we were very excited to see all the deer on the property, as well as two wild turkeys! Such beautiful surroundings, yet still close enough to town to buy groceries or grab a bite to eat! We will be back again; heck, we might even bring our families with us (I said MIGHT! LOL!)

    • Great place to relax! Cabin is very clean, Ellen has made sure everything was there to enhance an enjoyable stay. We saw several turkeys, and deer walked within 5 feet of the windows. Very nice location and walk down to the river.

    • Ellen & Pat, The cabin was wonderful! My wife and I had the most relaxing weekend. We were able to just unwind, watch a few movies, watch the wildlife outside and enjoy a nice fire in the stove. It was nice to have all the comforts of home while feeling we were miles from anyone. Thank you and we will certainly look forward to future trips to visit. Our visit 2/27-2/28/2009 Sincerely, Dave Clark

    • We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the cabin! Enjoyed the clean and nicely decorated cabin. The snow was beautiful and we were happy to see 9 deer pass by. Enjoyed the wood stove and leaving the nice cabin in good shape! We hope to return and enjoy the Au Sable river when the weather is warmer. Highly recommend this vacation spot for enjoying the wildlife and relaxing. Thanks!

    • The cabin was amazing! It did not get enough credit from the website. We saw deer, turkey, and two bald eagles. The cabin was clean and well-kept. The snow was beautiful. I can not even imagine what it is like in the summer. It is a great place for a peaceful vacation. We would definitely love to go back!
