Overlooking the most beautiful valley in Rabun County, my mountain home is comfortable and cozy. Many mornings the valley is filled with fog that clears out as the sun warms the valley. The views are spectacular from the deck that runs the length of the cabin.
The house is warm and nurturing on a quiet, paved mountain road. The living area includes a fireplace and great views. The master bedroom has its own door to the deck where a hammock hangs for cozy comfort. The second bedroom on the main floor is filled with books for curling up and reading.
A fully-equipped kitchen makes meals easy. Or you can cook on the charcoal grill on the deck. On the downstairs level, the rooms include a sitting room, two more bedrooms - one with two queen-size beds and the other with a queen - and a bath.
There are three satellite TVs in the house, two upstairs, one down, featuring HBO and Cinemax, in addition to regular satellite channels. There are three DVD players in the house. The house is stocked with games and books, as well as hiking and wildflower guidebooks. We have a growing collection of DVD movies. Nearby at the Ingles grocery, movies are available for rent.
We are 5 miles from Sky Valley Ski and Golf Resort; 30 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountain Railway in Dillsboro, North Carolina; 20 minutes from Highlands, North Carolina shopping; 40 minutes from the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Black Rock Mountain State Park is just across the valley and we are 10 minutes from Persimmon Creek Winery and the Georgia Wine Highway.
The Chatooga River put-ins for rafting are in several places in Rabun County. Hiking, horseback riding, great fishing, shopping for antiques, viewing waterfalls - all are available nearby.

$125 cleaning fee for up to 6 guests, $145 cleaning fee for more than 6.

I live in Atlanta and am a clinical psychologist (and a beekeeper in my spare time). I like to hike mountain trails and look for wildflowers. I have three grown and married daughters and love to spend time with them. I also bake bread every Friday with my grandson.
Why the Owner Chose Clayton
I bought my mountain house because of its proximity to Atlanta. I can leave the city and be in the beautiful peace of my house in Rabun county in less than 2 hours. I also wanted a house big enough that all of my children could come with their husbands at the same time and there would be room for them. The north Georgia mountains have always appealed to me, both for the easy availability of hiking and the many waterfalls and rivers.
The Unique Benefits of this Mountain Cabin
I love the deck at my mountain house. The view of the gorgeous Wolffork valley changes each hour and I find it relaxing to sit and watch. I also love that my property is within easy driving distance of mountain communities that are full of festivals, quaint shops and fun activities.
