20 minutes from Paphos International Airport, situated in a quiet residential area equidistant from Paphos Harbour and Coral Bay, you will find Villa Kalandia. Villa Kalandia is a luxury villa that accommodates 6 to 9 people. It has 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 double and 1 twin; a double futon bed in the lounge area and a single futon bed in the twin room (with option to move). Each room has access to a balcony via patio doors (with child safety locks). Hair dryers are provided in all bedrooms. The master bedroom has en-suite facilities. There is a family bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom. The ground floor is open plan with a fully fitted kitchen that includes a dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. The living area has a dining table, seating 8 people. There is a lounge suite, TV with android viewing, DVD and CD/Cassette/Radio. FREE child facilities include cot, high chair, two stair safety gates, cot linen, infant toilet seat, cutlery and plastic cups and plates The villa is fully air conditioned for the comfort of our guests during the summer months, converting to a heating system during the cooler season, complemented by an open log fire. Additionally, ceiling fans are installed in all rooms. The colourful, mature garden consists of a beautiful pool that is bathed in sunshine all day and is surrounded by a terrace containing sun beds, tables, parasols and BBQ. After watching a beautiful sunset, the garden and pool are fully lit for a romantic evening. The Villa is a non-smoking establishment, although ashtrays are provided, for guests wishing to smoke outside. Linen, house and pool towels are included. The pool is cleaned twice weekly to ensure safe bathing. There is no preferred changeover day. Arrival and departure times are 4pm and 10am respectively. However, should no other guests be arriving or leaving the Villa on your dates, then the times would be flexible at no additional cost. We will confirm these details closer to your holiday. We recommend car hire, or alternatively, the local taxi firm that we recommend are always available to take you to the shops, beach, restaurants or local attractions. They will collect very promptly from the villa or your choice of venue. They are also bookable in advance. There is a timetabled bus service into Paphos which runs approximately every two hours. Emba and its surrounding area. The villa is situated in a small quiet close in a residential area in the village of Emba. The local supermarket stocks a full range of products, from local produce to Heinz Beans! Adjacent to the supermarket are several food outlets selling traditional Cypriot food, fresh fish and a bakery. There are local Tavernas within walking distance. The surrounding villages of Lempa, Chlorakas and Kissonerga also have a variety of local restaurants. Coral Bay is a few minutes’ drive away. Its high street is full of bars and restaurants. It has a character of its own and is full of life. A few minutes’ drive further on, leads you to the sandy beach and water sports. Paphos main town and harbour are in the opposite direction, where facilities are abundant. There are two contrasting areas, The Harbour - with its many restaurants or Bar Street - for club land and bars.
Places to visit and activities The island has something to offer all ages and tastes. The Troodos Mountains; for skiing in the winter and sightseeing and walking in the summer. There are many vineyards on the slopes where you can sample a variety of local wines and purchase at very reasonable prices. Day excursions are plentiful - jeep safaris to Troodos or the Akamas Peninsular, day/sunset cruises, fishing trips and guided walks. If more lively activities are preferred, jet skis, paragliding, water skiing, scuba diving. Go-karting, golf, cycling and horse riding are all close by, as well as a water park. The established family coastal path is ideal for walking, jogging, cycling and blading. There are many historic places to visit - The Mosaics, Tombs of the Kings, Baths of Aphrodite and the Kykko Monastery, just to name a few.
The spacious bedrooms are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans. Patio doors with child locks lead onto balconies. The rooms have fitted wardrobes. Hair dryers, bed linen and towels (house and beach) are provided in each room. A cot is available for our younger guests. A single and double futon completes the sleeping arrangements. Golf was popularised in Cyprus in the late 1990s, so it is a relatively new sport to the country. The Cyprus Golf Federation was established in 2000, its main objective to promote and manage amateur golf on the island. The golf courses on Cyprus are clustered around the popular tourist areas of Paphos and Larnaca, in beautiful valley and hillside locations.
The Tsada Golf Club can lay claim to being the first grass golf course built in Cyprus. Completed in 1994, it is located 20 minutes from Paphos and is elevated 550m above sea level, ensuring a calming cool breeze during the warm summer months.
The Aphrodite Hills Golf Club is located near Paphos in Cyprus, overlooking the Mediterranean, taking its name from the birthplace of Aphrodite, which it overlooks. Aphrodite Hills has been described as an award winning 18 hole championship golf course and academy.
The Secret Valley Golf Club is probably the most prestigious golf course in Cyprus, located in the famous area of Petra tou Romiou, the birthplace of Aphrodite, 18 km east of Paphos and 49 km west of Limassol.
Ski: The Cyprus Ski Club was created on March 2, 1947 and since then it has a leading role in the development of skiing on the island. The first lift was built and operated on the eastern face of Mt Olympus using primitive equipment, while a second lift was built in 1951 near the 'Dolphin' restaurant, to the west of Troodos Square (the remnants of this lift, which was powered by the engine of a Ford truck, can still be seen).
After the independence of Cyprus in 1960, the Ski Club developed into its modern form, with a ski Federation under the auspices of the FIS, and four regional clubs (Nicosia, Limassol, Troodos, and Famagusta) competing in various skiing competitions. Until 1968, mobile lifts operated by the British Army were used, but in 1968 the first lift owned by the CSC was built at Sun Valley 1.
