Dismantled log by log, beam by beam, they were moved to their present sites and lovingly restored. Although fitted with modern amenities, one can still sense the grand sweep of history they have witnessed and share the wonder of being part of it. Great places for meditation. Or for that matter, weddings, honeymoons, reunions, retreats, or just relaxing, pleasurable escapes.
Each house has a distinct character, with lovely views of valleys and ridges. Each is fully furnished. There is a private tennis court and swimming pool.
With mountains and valleys and two great rivers, the Potomac and the Cacapon providing a dramatic backdrop, there is so much to do, so much to experience: golfing, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing, tennis, and antiquing.
Then there are the fabled mineral baths, which have long drawn health and pleasure seekers to their rejuvenating waters.
